now power is needed at times but for people just starting and are new to hema learning the basics and keeping things slow at first is better than forcing speed and bad habbits

I like this video a lot. Calm, steadfast, thoughtful in your opinions, all very important. I like this trend of a wholesome, considerate presence for HEMA on the internet. Very much worth a subscription. Also, your drilling is very satisfying. As a big ol HEMA enthusiast who's spent the last five years stuck in bed, I appreciate the chance to appreciate and learn from the mechanics at play.

And to add to it hema is a peacfull art can it be aggresive sure but at the end of the day if your life isnt in danger there is no need to be aggresive or try and harm others but once again thank you very much

Well said, we do the same in kenjitsu, in our art, it’s not at all about strength but control balance and edge alignment on the cut⚔️

Hey thanks man it is something i enjoy talking about cause alot of people think that you need power behind everyswing. Dont get me wrong i love some power here and there but you learn to have that after you get better basics down it is a bonuse not the statest quo

@@matthewmaurer7290 right, the basics are sooo important, foot work, hips, I do everything 50 times slow with a boken before ever try it with a live blade, lol, great job!

@@armoredsweatpants3997 thanks man i do the same i also throw in new things here and there just to give it a go dosent have to perfect but helps haveing some experiance. So while one might not like a movment can learn a counter for it. Homestly so many things can be talked about for sword stuff and moves i could rant for hours on it lol. But thank you it means alot for any support

It was a long time ago, but my teacher in naginata always emphasized cutting in a plane, and cut like it’s a razor blade, not hit like it’s a baseball bat. I found it a good mental image, and early in it helped me move and cut in a more relaxed manner.
