Nod to the cinematographer here, that tracking shot of them leaving the pier and heading out to sea was awesome.

Bat cave was loaded with Burrough's B-205 computers. Had to be a slew of light chasers arrays. I recall reading about they used a stepper motor or gearing system with contacts wired in different banks of the 192 #47 bulbs to creating the blinking.

Given that as the batmobile pulls up you can see the cave entrance it looks like the peir is right by the entrance to batcave.
1- We have a ladder and a stairway. Nope , we still need a Batpole. 2- It looked like that pier had its own batcave to the right. 3- they had that red police light in between them, in case they needed other boats to get out of their way or pull over. 4-If they didn’t have those little signs on everything, we wouldn’t know what the hell they were working on. 5-Robin’s gloved hand mashing, works great on that computer. 6- Dr. Evil totally ripped off the submarine idea from this film. 7- I wish computers still went “DING” when they gave you an answer. 8- Jim Rockford probably watched them take off from his beach trailer. 9- I like the unspoken communication between them. Batman jumps into the driver seat and fires her up. Robin undies the two lines tying it to the dock, without even being told. 10- They probably keep the Batboat in the water at all times, because Batman sucks at backing the Batmobile up, with the BatTrailer attached to the Bathitch.

If a US Navy submarine had seen the Penguin's pre-atomic submarine, the US Navy captain would order his crew to stop the Penguin and his crew, and they would have helped Batman & Robin in their capture.

Takes a lot of trust on Batman's part to leave Bat Boat tied to the dock like that with no security around to make sure no on does anything to it or the dock....
@ace9422 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking that. I wonder if perhaps there was a device in the bat belt that needed to be close otherwise the boat would not work. Still would not prevent someone from stealing it though.

The same pier location that the "BATMAN" movie (1966) was filmed at, for the Bat Boat scene, was later used on CBS's "THE NEW ADVENTURES OF WONDER WOMAN" in the 1977 episode, "The Bermuda Triangle Crisis", that was directed by Seymour Robbie.

another fun fact, Burt Ward nearly got killed driving with the stuntman in the batmobile, they took a hard turn and the door swung open, he grabbed the gear stick to hand on and screwed his hand up pretty bad, he often went to the hospital in that show as he did a lot of his stunts.

I have to admit, I like both the Batmobile and the Batboat. Both mean business. That’s why I could never stand the campiness of this series and movie. I think the goofiness undermined this show. That’s why we got more serious movies and series in the 80s and 90s.
@dalethelander37812 жыл бұрын
To be fair, the series was very faithful to the "New Look" Silver Age Batman titles of the time c. 1964-68. William Dozier and Howie Horwitz adapted some comic book stories for the series.

@@waltertomaszewski1083 The second season took a few wacky turns, the first season was pretty solid. Personally, I think "Hi Didfle Riddle/Smack In The Middle" is an excellent opening, considering that it had money (the largest budget for a 1-hour pilot up to that time) and plenty of time to tweak it in post for the test audiences and for airing. "The Joker Is Wild/Batman is Riled" Whereas, you can see the cost-cutting in the second season and the third...WHEW!
