Catwoman being Falcone's daughter is comic book accurate Read The Long Halloween .. or watch the animated adaptation. It's one of the stories The Batman is based on.

I disagree on catwoman, outside of that one groaner line, I think the relationship between them was told through the score and the performances of the actors, you can feel the tension between them, Batman immediately becomes sympathetic to her as soon as he sees the rent past due letter in her apartment, he knows she’s a good woman who’s been dealt a bad hand, and he feels the need to help and protect her from herself and the world that could corrupt her. I thought it was really well told, and it felt earned to me.

Pretty sure it was "white, privileged" and it was supposed to be ironic since Bruce fits the description too, but was choosing to help and fix the city. Kinda similar to how the Riddler expresses his hatred for Bruce Wayne for being a privileged orphan without knowing Batman is Bruce.

The fact that the liquid was glowing green and made him rage out and lose control when he injected it made me think it was setting up Bane's venom

Huge applause for Paul Dano. His portrayal of the riddler was amazing.

9.5/10 for me.....I am so glad they decided to go with the Riddler with this movie because the Joker was getting a little stale. IMO, the Riddler was the best part of the movie, it was refreshing to see someone who could intellectually challenge batman and I would even argue surpass him. It combined some of the best elements of all batman media...it has the darkness and grittieness and the amazing fighting of the arkham games, the chemistry between the villain and hero from the Nolan Trilogy along with the movie being grounded in realism. Robert Pattinson also made a fantastic Batman and he never overdoes his persona like Bale did. I also like how dark the movie is (lighting wise i mean), it really captures the spirit of Gotham. Great Movie!!

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who loved Gotham City in this movie. Easily the best on screen depiction of Gotham I've ever seen. Every section of the city felt ridden into the ground with crime and litter, and like you could get mugged and shot at any corner. Damn incredible movie. I didn't expect it to be so good.

I watched this movie Friday , and couldn’t help but feel in awe. I’ve been practically forced to watch all the Marvel Movies because my friend is a huge Marvel Fan Boy. But this Movie was just genuinely amazing. Despite the long runtime I was enthralled the entire way through. The Music composition, the Camerawork, the plot, the characters were just so well rounded. This movie really set the bar for what super hero movies should be like in terms of quality. I’m praying for a sequel that builds more on Bruce Wayne’s character and gives us a growth between him and Alfred.

SPOILER ALERT FOR THE LONG HALLOWEEN!!!! Ok, Falcone being Catwoman's dad is a thing ripped straight out of Batman The Long Halloween, which Matt Reeves got inspiration from, for the movie.

I love this movie cause while it’s pg 13 it’s a HARD pg 13 bordering rated R and that’s one reason why I love this film

The Batman was definitely one of the best superhero movies we've gotten in years as well as one of, if not the best Batman movie ever made. I'm very much invested in what Matt Reeves has in store for the Sequel and if he really is going to be tackling Mr. Freeze, then I believe we'll probably have a villain on par with Alfred Molina's Doc Ock. I also hope we will eventually get to see Robin in this universe as well since Robert Pattinson is interested in that happening.

I agree with a lot of this, but I'll just mention that Selina saying saying white privileged assholes (or whatever) isn't disproven by Batman being there. Do you think the creators don't know that Batman is Brue Wayne? Of course they do, it's just that Selina obviously doesn't mean every rich white guy is an asshole.

I went into this movie expecting to be entertained, and came out thinking that was the best Batman movie I ever saw. So much good that it’s easier to talk about the bad, mainly it being to bright in certain scenes and shoehorning Joker, and maaaybe Catwoman’s line. Oh and surviving a point blank explosion. Everything else was spot on. Such a great movie. It’s atleast a 9.5 for me

I love that this movie actually got the noir Gothic aesthetic of Batman and Gotham unlike the Dark Knight trilogy which has no aesthetic going for it all that makes it feel awe inspiring

Not as good as Dark Knight, but man did I love this movie, especially how it focuses Batman's skill as a detective more so than a fighter. And I think that the fellow inmate in the end with Riddler is most definitely Joker and he might play a huge role in the sequel.

Just what I was looking for This movie for me was a 10/10 and I don’t regret that choice

The riddler wasn't taunting batman he was trying to get batman in on his plan. He thought batman would solve the riddles and agree with his ideals, that's why he left the clues.

I simply love the introduction of Batman in this movie. While still using the shadows, Batman, as you said, really relies on fear. I loved when he simply slow works towards that first guy, almost like Michael Myers. No smoke bombs or ninja stuff. He just strolls to the guy with out saying anything and then pummels the guy.

Pattinson's right about the armour. It IS just a few plates. However, the bad guys are all morons because they all keep shooting at his chest, instead of anywhere else.

This movie was AWESOME! Pattinson killed it as Batman! He’s my favorite depiction of the Bat himself (besides Ben Affleck). Excited to see what they do next with him. This movie shows that DC does better when being a stand alone and not trying to be a cinematic universe like Marvel

This is one of only a few if any superhero movies, since Raimi's Spiderman movies, that really showed a directorial vision.

"Something in the way" pretty much was the main theme for the movie. But the soundtrack overall was fantastic

Good video man. It was definitely a great flick. One thing it does better than the Dark Knight is that unlike the Dark Knight, it doesn't spell out any meta text or subtext in the characters dialogue, that was something that bothered me more about TDK as time went on. Catwoman being Falcone's daughter is from either the Long Halloween or Dark Victory comic (can't remember which, but DV is the sequel the TLH). This was a great modern take on Riddler, which has obviously been tweaked in the comics over the years, but him targeting corrupt public figures struck me more as the modus operandi of Anarky than Riddler, but like I said he has been tweaked over the years. The one thing that I thought was unnecessary was the Joker reference. I don't want Joker for a long time! He's been abused more than Keith Richards' liver.

The explosion in the church that Batman got very little damage from was just plot armour and really annoyed me - possibly because I was hit with a blast wave from an RPG in Iraq and now have metalwork holding my spine together, so I know it's not something you just dust off and a few minutes later.

That opening is fucking amazing! From The Riddler killing the Mayor, to Batman's feet stomping in that subway, just OOOOOOOOH!

I never clicked on a video this fast! I really enjoyed the movie! I don't read comics so I wouldn't know if this is a good "Batman" movie but it sure is a great crime story with an interesting plot and compelling characters in Batman and the riddler!

4:55 I wanted to talk a little bit about the Logan portion of the video because while I do agree that it was excessive, I think where the criticisms lies is a point of contention. The whole point of Xavier is that he's suffering from dementia, meaning that he's not in control of his mind and functions. This also happens in the Green Mile when someone else is suffering from dementia and is using racial slurs and F bombs. Feel free to disagree with me on this, but I'm not opposed to having strong language in my films, as there's an art to it. It can help enrich the performance when used sparingly, like showcasing how desperate a person is becoming to the point where they're losing all forms of composure and tact (like in Alien) or have it done the same way but for comedic effect (like in Planes, Trains and Automobiles). In a ways, it's like adding salt or seasoning to your meal. Add a little bit to your movie, and it can really spice up your movie. Add too much and the taste comes across as bitter, salty and not taste very good. That's the same. Now I understand it being used occasionally like at a point when Logan is at his wits end or when Xavier is suffering from dementia so obviously he's doesn't have control over himself. But then there's times where they could've used some other language for the scene but they just resort to dropping another F bomb. Maybe I like to take the Will Smith approach when it comes this topic but it honestly feels cheap and artificial the way they incorporate it into many of the scenes they use it. I count that as rather weak writing when you resort to that when the scene doesn't call for it. I get that Hugh Jackman took a pay cut to make it an R rated film. But the violence alone was enough to get it to become R rated like Gladiator. The excessive use of F bombs cheapens the writing and performances of the actors because how artificial it feels. But other than that, I do agree Logan is phenomenal and I love your assessment of The Batman. This review honestly won me over because I was starting to feel Batman fatigue for all the Batman content DC keeps putting out.

This is currently my third favorite Batman movie behind The Lego Batman Movie and The Dark Knight, as well as my current second favorite movie of 2022 behind Sonic The Hedgehog 2. An absolute masterpiece

The "revisions" you claim to Catwoman's backstory and the connection between the Waynes and Carmine Falcone aren't anything new nor specific to "The Batman". Check out "The Long Halloween" where these plot points are explored (they show Thomas treating Falcone's gunshot wounds) as well as the Earth One comic. Also, Zoe Kravitz Selina Kyle is straight up ripped from the pages of "Batman Year One"! She was incredible. Animated versions of some of these influences are available on HBO MAX.

I agree, I just watched the movie last night in theaters and honestly it was way better than me and my cousin expected because at first we thought it would suck complete ass, however this movie proved us wrong as it really was a very unique perspective to take a Batman movie by showing the dark side of Batman and Gotham making it a lot more realistic and it succeed in almost every aspect, however I don't think that Robert Pattinson's Batman has surpassed Christian Bale's Batman and the Dark Knight yet but this movie was absolutely fantastic and brilliant nonetheless.

I think there was a line that goes, "Sometimes, the worst possible crimes have been committed with the best of intentions", I don't remember the movie, though

Thank God this movie was made, and even more, thank God it’s killing it at the box office. It’ll hopefully encourage more like it

I was waiting for your review of this new Batman movie and it is super accurate.

I've heard mixed opinions on the action scenes in The Batman so I'm curious as to how I'll feel about them when I finally watch the film.

The reason catwoman calls Bruce Wayne and Thomas Wayne "white privileged" is because Riddler targeted them specifically. Bruce was the only one not killed and she used him because he was the only one left. I felt it made sense to me 🤷‍♂️

I like that Thomas messed up and a reporter got killed , it shows that Bruce is strong and good because he still keeps going and doing he's best.

I also think this is a MASTERPIECE. I it gets recognition it deserves next year during award season.

The bar has been set so low that we are intended to believe this was ‘brilliant’.

Noticed only two scenes (major one being Batman hanging and multiple villains shooting at him for an extended period or time) in the film where the villains seem to miss Batman a lot, seemed sloppy and takes you out of the movie. The explanation why they would miss is probably that the villains are proto-Stormtroopers.

Masterpiece movie. Loved it 10/10 for me.

I think it's a sad commentary on movies today that people, including myself, are fawning over this movie. This is an okay movie. Above average but only a by a little. If we got the occasional bad ass comic style movie people would recognize The Batman for what it is, a decent movie that could have been a lot better. Even if you liked it, as I did, don't pretend you're not a tad bit disappointed.

I just wanna point out my WTF moment from this movie, when the riddler is locked up and batman is talking to him from behind the glass, the riddler could 100% just lift that metal neck brace shackle thing right over his head, like wtf was that supposed to do, its hanging around his neck like a hula hoop, it looks like it should be on his waist instead of his neck!

I watched this video a few times and it never gets old, as for me I loved this movie (if it wasn’t obvious by my pfp), you already explained why the movie is great for me so I don’t see the need to say more however I will say that over time I’ve come to accept Batman surviving that blast at the church only because he covers his face so I can believe him not getting burnt. The Catwoman line is also fine for the reason you gave but also because it’s not “white privilege” and it’s actually “white, privileged” so it doesn’t come off the same. Your content is great keep up the good work and I’m excited for the sequel and spin-offs.

Nomz I'm pretty sure what Batman injected himself with in the final fight was meant to be a small dose of venom, a perfomance enhancing drug that Bane uses to gain his super strength in the comics.

Honestly, I thought the movie was fine, not great but not terrible either. I did like the detective aspect of Batman and how he searches clues for the Riddler's puzzles. And I did like the score for the movie. But the movie kinda suffers from the pacing, and it drags on from certain subplots.
