"The Battle of Evermore" is a folk duet sung by Robert Plant and Sandy Denny, featured on Led Zeppelin's untitled 1971 album, commonly known as Led Zeppelin IV. The song's instrumentation features acoustic guitar and mandolin playing.
The song was written by Jimmy Page at Headley Grange while he was experimenting on the mandolin owned by John Paul Jones. Page explained in 1977 that '"Battle of Evermore" was made up on the spot by Robert [Plant] and myself. I just picked up John Paul Jones's mandolin, never having played a mandolin before, and just wrote up the chords and the whole thing in one sitting."

I am completely stunned...HOW is this possible?? The Wilson sisters not only captured the essence of this amazing song, they took the vocals all the way to those goosebump places that I thought only existed on the Zeppelin Four version. Ann even nailed the 'Ring-wraith' shriek at the end with that slap back echo!! "Bring it back! bring it' bring it bring it, bring it baaaaaaaa!!"

Hi , of course Heart cover's this the best Ann and Nancy are spectacular but I just found out something ...please check the version by Get The Led Out with female singer Diane Desantis ....they do very well but sadly Diane passed away last year from cancer ...such a lovely voice ...heartbreaking ..!

I only remember the mid 80s photos of a band my oldest friend who had started his teenage rebellious years in 72 in US Vietnam war army fatigues and an Afghan coat.Having morphed into a blue tinted glasses wearing denim dungarees hitops ELO fan he raved about Heart (remember to be an all girls I thought heavy rock group was unheard of nay inconceivable back then) me being a young punk rocker was unimpressed only remembering the look of girls ....hilarious backcombed hair a la van Halen bon Jovi with makeup. To see how amazing and skilled I could go on and on....fantastic....they look supreme as well.

I saw Heart do a live cover of Led Zeppelin "Rock and Roll" in the early '80's. It was an astounding performance. Maybe '79? Not sure.

This rendition is so moving. Add real sounds of thunder to key moments to bring out the desperation of war and emotional ending… that of nature trying to bring back balance
