Hashtag United are a one-of-a-kind football and esports club, based in Essex, England. Formed in 2016 by Spencer Owen as a group of mates playing exhibition games, we now play in the 7th tier of English football, the Isthmian League North. We won our league in our first season in non-league football and were looking good for a second promotion when the 2019/20 season was voided, but after the 2020/21 season went the same way with us top of the Essex Senior League, we were eventually awarded promotion based on PPG over the two part seasons. In 2023 we won the Isthmian League North and will now play in the Isthmian Premier!
We merged with AFC Basildon Women in summer 2020 and formed our women's team, Hashtag United FC Women, who play in the 3rd tier of women's football, the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division, after they also won their league in 2023. We also now have 40+ youth teams, reserve and development teams, an inclusive team and a walking football team...plus our esports team who play FIFA at the world's highest level. Sometimes when a defence is out of form they make mistakes because they’re trying too hard to make up for it and you feel bad for them. Can’t say that about the Tags defence at the moment , they genuinely look like they’re not bothered at times. Pedestrian.

This isn’t fifa. Teams don’t just jump through the leagues. Hashtag have just hit a league that is genuinely competitive and a decent standard, and so far barring the last few weeks are holding their own. They won’t go down, they won’t go up, they’re just consolidating and finding their feet

I’d like to acknowledge two players who have been fantastic in these times of turmoil Camilo Restrepo and Pedro. Pedro has shown so much spirit running up and down the wings to attack and defend and Camilo has been a spark with his creativity if it weren’t for them I’d be terrified rn

As someone who doesn't often comment, I feel the quality of the squad this season is so varied. It seems like 45% are capable at this level while the other 55% just don't seem ready... Something that has stuck out to me this whole season is the lack of decisiveness when finishing, there is always an extra touch, always a slight delay, and always enough time for the other teams defenders to get in position. Will keep supporting, hoping they iron things out.

Defence has really fallen apart since Ted Curd was recalled. It was always going to be tough but there’s no doubting their commitment. Devs’ experience and knowhow is proving valuable during this difficult period.

I was at that game, and.....it was just one of those days! The early goal in the first 30 seconds was a real kick in the nuts, but we did come back well from it, had a few chances of our own and looked to be getting back into the game....then we conceded the second and what was already an uphill battle became a mountain to climb. Combine that with a big crowd (Hastings' biggest crowd of the season) of over 2,500 people behind them, coupled with (it has to be said) a rather dodgy pitch, it was always going to be difficult afternoon. But, hey....like I said to Alfie when we were chatting in the bar at the end of the game, realistically, the goal this season was always to not get relegated and stay in this league, and we are on course to do just that. The people who expect us to win every game and get promoted every season (or worse, calling for Devs to get sacked) are either deluded, or just don't understand _how tough_ this league actually is! This league ain't no pushover, and the fact that we've been within touching distance of the playoffs for most of the season shows what an amazing job Devs is actually doing. Yeah, we're in a rough patch of form right now, but this is where we need to show our support the most. Personally, I'm just disappointed that you didn't show my beer getting yeeted into the shadow realm by a perfectly aimed wayward shot at the end of the second half! That got the biggest cheer of the day lol!

Randall doesnt look like he's up to pace unfortunately. Halford's experience and game management would have been vital here. Theres a fair few vital names missing, still a lot of points to play for. Up the Tags!

I was at the game and it was my first time seeing the boys live. Super proud of the effort! One thing that the video doesn’t get across is just how noisy the Hastings fans were. They were almost deafening! Looking forward to seeing the boys turn the results around. I will see them again at Lewes away 👍🏻

I was at the match. Hashtag looked much smaller then Hastings, they were being out muscled. It looked like men against boys sometimes. On a muddy old field like that you need big tractors running about, not electric scooters.

Really tough times for the team, I hope the players keep their heads up. Better times will come. Having said that, too many cards are being conceded. Mistakes happen, but getting sent off is rarely a mistake. That has to improve to give the morale of the team a chance.

Commenting end game now, cant say the boys played bad, but just not good enough. Some tough 50/50's lost. The game was won and lost in the first half. The ref wasnt doing us any favors eaither. People thinking Halford would have had pace to deal with these strikers are silly… if your on a bad run of form you go back to basics tactically. Hastings are a good football side. You get behind the ball. Very simple. You don’t try to press in their own third. Childish tactics. Managerial error. But in Devs we trust regardless

Everyone keeps commenting on the defense struggling lately, but nobody is seeing that our midfield is providing them no cover whatsoever. We're essentially playing 1CM with 2CAM's, we're really missing PK & Max, the impact they have on ball retention & coverage is really understated.

Comments show how stupid most of the fans are tbh, very little ball knowledge. With the midfield set up the way we have it, we should be pressuring the middle of the park and not even allowing heaps of the set up balls that they play through. Instead they completely ran the middle of the park and had acres of space. What are our 2 slowest defenders meant to do against their fastest player when a ball gets played over the top? It's just poor game management from Devs and poor pressure from our midfield to allow it to happen at all.

Was still in that corner of the ground at kickoff so had a great view of their 1st goal and even with my Hashtag bias I didn't think it was a foul on our defender unfortunately. After that 1st goal and couple of other scares we seemed to deal with their man and his pace well, pushing him wide to stop his runs through, just unfortunately switching off for that one moment that let him through for their sceond goal. Credit to Hastings has to be grudgingly given too. You could tell they'd done their homework on us, keeping us off our left wing for huge portions of the game thereby stifling our best creativity that comes from Nathan and Sak, while trying to exploit our weaker right side of defence when they could. The red card then killed the game and that did look very soft from where I was standing. A positive: I believe that second half was our first 45 minute shut out since the first half at Dulwich which I thought was a good achievement with ten men and the form we've been in.

Their first goal is 100% NOT a foul. Not a chance. The second yellow for Sam is absolutely a second yellow and deserved to be sent off. The only decision the ref got wrong was not sending their boy off towards the end but by that point the game was done.

Refs have such a hard job, especially at this sort of level and I think the ref had a good game, but he had such a good view of the multiple kicks into a players stomach area while he is on the floor, that has to be a red card every time

I think the red was correct. I think curd really help us this year & now we don’t have that keeper to make big saves, we have one who can hardly clear it, he made it a corner… missing PK in the middle too

Would love to not be negative but I think haysom found his level last year hope I’m wrong but I’ve seen him struggle all season and not sure if he’s good enough for this calibre of football, missing PK quite obviously also feel as if hashtag could be better by being abit more direct, don’t know if there’s been a falling out with tenola but not sure why he’s not starting games LMP looks decent but I just feel like the squad is missing physicality up top… again obvious to say but losing the lad from last season on the wing has hurt hashtag badly him and sak would of been a menace… it also seems like all the top teams in this league have 1 real special player who’s just looks like they are playing a level below don’t feel like hash tag have this… can’t blame devs think need to get on the recruitment lads.. but on the plus side you’re a victim of your own success to stay up this season and finish mid table would be a good achievement can see such a vast jump In quality compared to the previous years.

Firstly, if you want “Devs Out”, then you’re not a hashtag fan. Go away and commenting your actual club, not this one. Secondly, this club will not walk over this league like we did in past seasons. Please do understand this league is where we belongs and we found our match against the clubs that wanting to be at top levels and getting promotion to National League South. The attendances & standards is twice more than Isthmian North which we need years to be promotion contenders. Thirdly, you are not in control of which players you wanting them to leave or dropping next games, that’s the management team decisions. Not yours. My opinion of Hastings game, poor start again which we need to improve on (again) and be clinical with our chances. I know the pitch looks wobbly but they can’t use it as excuses. I like the togetherness (which they used often) after the red card, this is what we all thrives on. All players are committed to back each other’s and they will win the game. I know this current team can win against Chatham, Horsham & Carshalton on a good day! #BelieveInTheTeam!

Commenting at half time, defense hasnt given up alot of chances, however the chances conceded i think just need to be dealt with better. Offensively we dont look terrible, but we really should have at least 1 goal. Cmon boys UP THE TAGS

Didn't Nathan Smith use to play centre back earlier in his career? Surely has to be a decent option at this point since there's clearly a desperate need for more pace at that position.
