My dad was an M60 gunner with marines in Vietnam. He was at Khe Sahn from the day the siege started. Said he didn’t change his clothes for 77 days. He had to hop and run out of his fox hole and trenches to take a shit and run back in so he didn’t get picked off by a sniper. I don’t know how he survived but he’s a beast.

Yeah, my dad fought with George Washington. He too had to run from spot to spot to avoid the Red Coats picking him off during his bathroom breaks.

I have unmeasurable respect for those who lost their lives, and for our injured Viet Nam Vets. I served in the military from 1968 to 1970 in Germany. I have friends who lost their lives in Khe Sahn in July 1968. My brother came back with Agent Orange and ptsd. I cannot forget the nightmare.

Not to mention the US war crimes committed in Vietnam. Despite all their superiority in weapons and technology, the Americans underestimated one thing: the morale of the Vietnamese and their stamina and will. The war ended in disaster and flight for the Americans.

Thjs is a simplified version. Our troops were in danger of losing. Westmoreland even considered using nukes. At one point, our troops were so low on ammunition, there was hand to hand combat. The enemy even got ahold of some of our supplies that were dropped in the wrong place or dropped in haste, ending up in enemy hands. At one point, our soldiers were hungry, out of ammunition, and demoralized. But they held on and won, only to leave the area. God I hated the way politicians fought this war.

At that time the only way to defeat the Vietcong was to wiped out the whole Vietnam. Becaused the Vietnamesse people embraced and crazy about the promised of Communism. You thinked the US can't do that?. The US can killed and wiped out the whole country if they want. The US can dropped a 5 to 10 Atomic Bomb and the whole Vietnam will be vanished. But the US is not crazy to that. The US win in WW2. That was a huge war. And you thinked they can't win against Vietnam?. The can send a hundred thousand of their soldiers if they want. Why send only 11,000 soldiers? Becaused the reason why the US decided to fight the Vietcong was to stop the wide spread of Communism in South East Asia. Not to win against Vietnam. During that time, one of the main concerned of the US were South Korea and the Philippines.

Wow! The communist Vietnamese took a pretty sound ass whooping at Khe Sanh! The Marines lost 244, while the Vietnamese lost 15,000? That is a 60:1 kill ratio. That is epic! bro the khe sanh battle also contain operation scotland and some others. you guys lost battle of khe sanh because it was build to protect svn and cut the hcm trail and then it was destroy ( the us nearly use atomic bomb at khe sanhh), and the us cannot estimate the exactly number of communist casualties and they often exagrate the numbers of the communist casualties.
