A common misconception of the Battle of Milne Bay is the first land battle defeat of the Imperial Japanese Army. It was actually the first land battle defeat of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The Aussies were fighting the Imperial Japanese Special Landing Forces (Japanese Marines).

… so in the photo with the two soldiers sitting on the tank the tank in the background was destroyed by my great Uncle. I did some research earlier this year and have a photo of the tank with his name on the caption on the photo. They were wrong when they said they were destroyed by anti tank fire because my Grandparents have a newspaper with a photo of my Uncle throwing a grenade at two tanks. So I believe my Uncle destroyed both those tanks with a grenade saving his battalion.

No. The tanks got bogged and were abandoned. The sticky bombs they took didn't explode. They had left the anti tank rifle behind because it was thought too heavy. This newsreel isn't factual. Yes, he probably tossed grenades in but not when the Japanese were inside it.
