Today we take a close look at the Bavarian Rapier by Arms and Armor.
Check out all of our rapiers, including the Bavarian here: www.arms-n-armor.com/collections/rapier
As always, our swords are entirely made by us at our shop in Minneapolis, MN out of 6150 carbon steel, hardened and tempered to 50-52 Rockwell. Our swords are made to look, feel, and function just like the historical originals on which they are based. Check out our full selection here: www.arms-n-armor.com

I live in Jodhpur, a city which was once a kingdom renowned for its sword-making. Post the British weapons ban law, our sword market was devastated and now there's hardly any swordsmiths left. I love how there are still people dedicating there lives to keep this ancient tradition of sword-making alive from across the world. My best wishes, and I hope to purchase a sword from you in person one day ♥

So cool to see this posted. The sword in the video is actually the one they made for me and it’s even more impressive in real life. Thank you so much, Arms & Armor! You guys are the best!

That looks perfect. Imagine if our ancestors seen a sword of that quality. Youd be making them for kings

We try :-) our whole goal is to make a piece that if a person from the past picked it up they would recognize the feel and function as if it was made back then.

Good to see a reproduction rapier that's actually sharp for once! I don't know what it is, but compared to reproduction arming swords, it seems like a much higher percentage of reproduction rapiers tend to be practice swords. It has really annoyed me, so it's like a breath of fresh air to see a sharp! This girl looks like she'd be a good cutter too! I suppose the original would be considered a rather early-ish specimen at c.1550, but very nice nonetheless.

this type of hilt is very similar to that of the Munich town guard sword and it also make them a bit easier to wear than those with massive straight cross guards

Just everyone knows, if you buy a quote on quote scabbard from Arms and Armor, you’re really just getting a Flimsy Leather Sheath with no belt loop or any way securing it to your body. And the Sheath doesn’t hold the sword in very well either. And pieces of it keep flaking off and get stuck to the sword.

SOunds like you have had a bad experience with one of our leather scabbards. Send us an email and we will do what we can to help.

Beautiful blade. Though the beauty of it would be wasted on me, my own personal view is weapons should fall more in line with "Utilitarian Beaters".

@Nathan (et al) Other than custom work, how would you rate the cutting effectiveness of the different A&A rapier models currently offered? Sadly, there aren't enough video reviews of these swords out there.

They all cut pretty well for rapiers. The narrow blades styles like the Bavarian and Italian 3 ring are less forgiving than the wider styles like the two ring and French. But I have seen several folks cut water bottles with the narrow blades. Practice and form are important.

what kind of bluing do you use? how durable is it?
@armsarmorinc.4153
@armsarmorinc.4153 6 ай бұрын
Its a commercial black oxide finish using chemicals and heat so about as good as a blued finish can get. But all blued finishes are susceptible to wear and scratches.

The form could be seen in either place the one this is based off of would be more in the Netherlands than Italian peninsula.
