Another great song from this era that nobody reacts to is "The Little Girl I Once Knew." Amazing structure to this song, which has some similar orchestration to California Girls, especially with the organ. It's one of Brian Wilson's great underrated songs. Yes, you know Roth's remake. This is the REAL THING!

Glad you mentioned that one, I live that one! the vocals are outstanding on it, radio stations hated the 8 couts of silence twice in it and that's what held it back from climbing the charts higher.

It sounds familiar because its 60 years old & just one of those songs that are in the lexicon of world culture.....they have fans all over the world & almost everyone has heard it once, somewhere, in an ad, an old ad, a movie, etc, etc......anyway, great reaction...do "god only knows" next😃😃😃

David Lee Roth has a great cover of this song. Did you know Paul McCartney conceived the Beatles song "Back In The U.S.S.R." as a Soviet version of "California Girls."

The middle 8? of Back in the USSR is essentially a tribute to the Beach Boys. Chuck Berry's Back in the USA was a big influence on that song too.

The thing I always enjoyed about this song is that after the final break, it sounds like a whole army singing the chorus.

An iconic American song. They hardly get closer to the center of American music than this. I doubt you've heard the parody song the Beatles did, but "Back in the USSR" is this same song, just twisted a little for amusement.

Saw them live back in 1978 at the Ohio State Fair. The concert was a lot of fun for a 6 year old girl and her dad. I remember dancing up near the stage.

It’s such a happy song! The Beach Boys have lots of songs like this, they make you feel happy & summery 😎 Shout out to your mum! You’re supposed to reply to “I’m old” with “no you’re not, you’re wise” or something like that 🤷‍♀️😂

Check out "Heroes And Villains" by the Beach Boys. It's a little more complex than most of their songs but the interplay between the voices is amazing.

David Lee Roth was the lead singer in Van Halen for years and years. He's kind of like Kid Rock in that they can both put on a show but they can both really sing, too. I sure wish you'd play Davids' version, with video. You'll be glad u did.
