I was at an Eagles concert at the Forum, just after it was remodeled when Glenn Frey was still with them. The tour was called The History of the Eagles. Glenn Frey was the spokesman for them at the time He said to the crowd, "How many of you are Beach Boys fans?" I am screaming Yes! Me! Glenn Frey then said "They were the pioneers, we are the settlers. " Such an iconic moment! Love them both!

Because your undermining the need/importance for Carls lead in absence of Brian here. Carl literally held the group together.. Back then the standard/caliber of the show, was INDEED on Carl's shoulders. He was the best, most well rounded singer in the group, and im sure Brian would've agreed to that as well. Therefore when Carl was still alive, especially at this time, he WAS the BBs. Every great group has a lead, doesn't take away from all the players. Rest easy, Carl 🕊️

Ed Carter (left of Carl) on bass. Ed was a touring BB from the late 60's. He also played guitar and even on some BB studio albums. Jeff Foskett (right of Bruce) who was a touring BB, plus a member of Brian's touring band and the Mike & Bruce BB's in the 2000's. Jeff added the falsetto parts that Brian used to do. On piano on right side of stage, Billy Hinsche (Carl's brother in law, and as a teen the band Dino, Desi & Billy). He was a touring member for many years on guitar and keyboards. Also toured with Brian's band. Mike Kowalski on drums.

They grew up a couple off ramps south of me on the 405 (we all were there when it was being built). They were pretty much the backup music for my life (after my low rider gangster doo-wop renegade period) and was much more fun at beach parties vs VFW hall gang occasions ( but that Est L.A. music will never leave me and as is as important to my soul)
@chrisfreeman99603 жыл бұрын
Those really early years are fascinating to me. Great that you were there. There are some recent books that have been written about those times. Performing at local high schools, gigs performing forr local department stores, teen parties, or "hops", as they were called. That early period where they were a local L.A. phenomenon, then branching out to the rest of the country. The next chapter is the British Invasion, and how Brian was up for the challenge. He began writing some of the best music the Beach Boys ever did in the 1964 period, and after. Their musical themes expanded beyond surfing and cars. Most of the American pre-British Invasion rock 'n roll acts didn't survive the change. But Brian kept them afloat. Still, that early '60's period, the kids from Hawthorne, 1961-1963, is fascinating.

Gran documento!!
