I had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours with Brian Wilson back in 1989, and this is a good representation of how he bangs away on the piano. It sounds simple enough to the casual listener, but what is cool is the textured chords that he comes up with.

+Peter Beck: The Beach Boys fan club in England sent invites to each BB to attend (kind of on a lark), and guess what? Brian through Gene Landy accepted and actually went to their convention. My good friend Pete the Greek from San Leandro went to the event. They made a nice thank you plaque and sent it to Pete to send to Brian. Pete called Brian's office in Santa Monica and they said they would like for us to present the plaque to Brian in person. So we went. And we were allowed to hang with Brian for about two hours. Kind of amazing. Go to my Facebook page if you want to see a picture of us from that event.

Jem Beedoo they all strived for masculinity. Grew beards, contemplated changing the 'boys' part of the name, and Brian intentionally deepened his voice.

Jewish Dad yes it is. It comes with age too, but he also became obsessed with Randy Newman. That definitely played a role.

@@tommytwomommythat’s always odd as boys has always been used for any age, hence why in the military they’d say let’s go boys or come on boys or whatever. And the song the boys are back in town isn’t like literally about eight year olds or something. In the same way girls are used for not actual children so it is with boys. He might have intentionally deepened it as well but I think drugs and smoking and stuff probably also did that some.
@ComeAlongKay5 ай бұрын
@@tommytwomommyit doesn’t always come with age or certainly not that fast his voice deepened pretty quick and I’ve heard of other pop stars who mostly have kept their same voice way longer than that, I feel like Timberlake has and probably some others. Smoking will really do it from what I’ve heard. Also cocaine I think can and it wasn’t super rare a time if celebrities used that back then and I think it irritates the vocal cords. Actually somewhere in the middle his voice wasn’t too bad it has some gravel and soul to it but he still had some of his falsetto if he’d have stopped there.

It's practically a Brian Wilson solo album. He wrote and played most of the instruments himself. The album was originally going to be called Brian loves you. He does a duet with Dennis on this song and then Carl comes in on the bridge.

This comment made my day 😭😭. Yeah, I'm not big on the fart machine either. I really like it for the American Spring version of Had To Phone Ya, but that's about it. It's too much on Love You and ruins a lot of the songs for me. The alternate mixes that tone way down on the synths sound so much better imo.
