Best episode of the whole series. -the picture of Carmy and Chef Luca from Denmark was saying, without saying, that CARMEN is the chef that was so much better than Luca in the story Luca told Marcus.

@@fakudanyeah, I had just assumed this from the fact that Carmy sent him to work there with Luca. I guess the picture is just to hammer it home for those who missed it, and apparently A lot of people didn't catch on.

I think it also confirms that Carmy is using his personal network to arrange these opportunities for his team. After the stress of the last show, this episode makes your heart happy and light. Love the comment about the show being about kindness - you don't see that very often on TV. Its usually about conflict or it is sugary sweet. This feels geniune

Seeing Richie really understand that his best skill is being good with people, but also learning juuuust when to dial it back was so cute. He's really personable but he just loves talking to people so much and making them laugh that he kinda shoots himself in the foot. He'd be the kinda staff you would genuinely look forward to seeing cause you know he isn't putting anything on, he's just really excited and charismatic in his own weird Richie way.
@pabloc88087 ай бұрын
Richie and Carmy are polar opposites in that aspect and that's why they need each other, Carmy is obsessed with surgical precision and perfection in the work, but that makes him neglect the human element, and that's where Richie comes in

I will go to my grave saying this is the best episode of The Bear. This episode made Richie one of the most sympathetic, empowering and redeemable characters in the whole show. The scene of him singing along to Love Story at the top of his lungs, intercut with him finally discovering his true purpose, is one of the most uplifting moments this show has managed to produce. After producing one of the single hardest episodes in all of television to watch, this episode is a relaxing soak in a bubble bath.

I love the realization that Richie has in this episode where he realises that the restaurant they are opening is his all or nothing too, like if he wants to work the job he just worked, The Bear needs to become the best restaurant in the world, and he has the power to help it become that
@pabloc88087 ай бұрын
I'll do you one better: for Richie to keep his job, The Bear didn't have to become the best restaurant in the world, their actual goal was getting the money to pay Cicero, and getting a star (Syd promised Cicero they'd get one). Richie's determination to turn The Bear into even more than just that doesn't come from him wanting to keep his job, it comes from him wanting to be better for others and for himself. Purpose.

This episode was one of the best episodes of television I've seen in a while, it's so heartwarming to watch a broken man who thought his life was basically already over realize that yes, he can pick up the pieces and start over, it's never too late. Also, surprise Olivia Colman is always a joy
@zoc.69227 ай бұрын
I love that Richie found out what his strengths were. Richie and Tina both are older and felt sidelined. Last season, Tina dealt with her jealousy towards Syd and wanted to learn so in return, Syd and Carm got her training and Tina started prospering. This season Richie deals with wanting to find his purpose and it all gets explored here. Richie is really good with people in a way that elevates the restaurant. He became one of my favorite characters. I love that it ended on a high note given how sad the previous episode was.

Like God's appearances in the bible. This episode set "Chef Terry" as some kind of omnipotent being. Like "Chef Terry is always watching", and then the sous coming down and bring orders "straight from Terry" like a prophet.Then when we see God is in this sort where time stands still place, very ethereal and calm, and departs true wisdom to the protagonist. Then exits by no volition of anyone. Truly a divine deity.

Using the Taylor Swift song is also representative of Richie’s change. Earlier in the season he tells his daughter he needs a break from T. Swift. He’s been going through the motions in life at least since Michael died. Even with his daughter, the most important thing in his life. Once he finds purpose he’s finally present with things going on around him, including hearing and enjoying the music his daughter loves.

I like to believe that Olivia Coleman was especially cast for this because of her own experience in the industry. She has been such an inspiration for me because she didn't find her big break until she was older, and before she was a cleaning lady. Her life and chef's Terry story hammered home something so important to me. Is never later. Failure is never the destination. As long as we're alive... Every second counts.

I feel like season 1 was a more cohesive season to be honest.. like one of the best seasons of television I've ever seen. This second season is incredible too. It's hard to decide which was better for me though because season 2 had higher highs and lower lows than season 1. Like some bits were super good in their own way but not quite as impactful as season 1. And then parts like fishes and forks... just wow. Higher highs and lower lows. That sums it up for me. But ya, just being honest, I feel like season 1 was somehow more cohesive, but not necessarily better. I don't think season 2 is necessarily better than season 1 either though.. I could go back and forth for hours. I just love them both so much in their own way I guess.
