Loved your reaction. The songwriter for the film is Savan Kotecha, a well-known established songwriter and producer who has written for Ariana Grande, One Direction, and numerous other performers. Nicholas Galitzine sang the lead vocals on all the August Moon songs (there is an album), and he plays the guitar and piano. He did have to train for the dancing. Lastly, the shifting color of lighting when they are saying goodbye is to mimic the colors of the painting Unclose Me, which made them feel everything. It's a beautiful moment in the film.
