Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play? Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day The sun is up, the sky is blue It's beautiful and so are you Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play? Dear Prudence, open up your eyes Dear Prudence, see the sunny skies The wind is low, the birds will sing That you are part of everything Dear Prudence, won't you open up your eyes? Look around, round Dear Prudence, let me see you smile? Dear Prudence, like a little child The clouds will be a daisy chain So let me see you smile again Dear Prudence, won't you let me see you smile? Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play? Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day The sun is up, the sky is blue It's beautiful and so are you Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play?

@bellodrade it's not as if the lyrics were unintelligible, there are quite easy to understand and just as easy for everyone to Google if they really don't understand the words. I would like to think that all those likes are from people who just like the lyrics, as opposed to the "see what I can do" comment from the individual who posted it.

It's been reported that because Ringo had left the band for a spell that Paul did the drums for this and Back in USSR. But there's been some discussion that the Dear Prudence track has two drummers and it sounds to me that Ringo might've been asked to help fix this track after he returned. It sounds more like Ringo drumming at the end than Paul, it has Ringo's signature style which Paul couldn't really imitate. When I listen now, it sounds like two drum tracks were used, Paul's for the first 2 min 49 sec, then it's likely Ringo took it from 2:50 onward. Even has a subtle difference in the drum tone.

Back in the Days of Art of human Beings. The Beatles are such a gigantic example that Art does not mean being a virtuoso on your instruments. It is especially the Feeling, the Message, the Composition. Their Music was and is forever gigantic.

Don't worry many people don't think an artist means only being a virtuosos on their instruments. In fact theres millions who don't care if you can play at all, and listen to mechanical twitterings gobbing behind bland pop music tracks. But Im not talking about that.
@greenlightwilly
@greenlightwilly 3 күн бұрын
So true. A fact lost on many who think that instrumental and vocal mastery is what makes great music. They must be competent musicians, yes, but they must also have the inspiration, vision, ability to execute - AND, know when to accept others advice to improve the piece. Beatles had all of this in spades. And a producer and engineering staff who could deliver on their parts. I am 72 yrs on and still marvel at them. Particularly this song. Which IMO is great art. And as great art it has the important quality to carry us beyond our normal state of mind into another place that seems somewhat familiar and different at once. Many are tempted to explain or deconstruct this and other great pieces - trying to divine the essence of it. McCartney is often asked what some of his songs 'mean' and although he can recount some facts surrounding it he usually ends up just conjecturing as to its 'essence'. IMO, artists just act on the ideas that pop into their heads - particularly song writers. The creative process is a mystery and always will be. And it's distinctly human - something that AI will never recreate.

Media is very selective on what it focuses on. I've often thought that, although yes they were growing up and growing apart and things got nasty at the very end, they still could produce something like Abbey Road as a swan song. And don't forget that Paul was part of the studio version of the Plastic Ono Band in its infancy. No doubt they had rows like friends sometimes do but there's no denying that they didn't let their tiffs interfere with their art. We all just must accept that that they had grown up into men and as artists didn't feel they wanted to compromise as they had before. That's normal and natural.

Aren't we lucky it occurred to someone to take these home movies?! How wonderful to see an individual shot of Jane Asher at ease and smiling, in her eternal place among the Beatles entourage. What a time that was; a time that will never be repeated in the same way. Here were the Beatles and friends in seatch of inner peace, in a remote part of the world, Rishikesh India. While in another remote part of the world, a war was raging in Vietnam, along with its utter violence and destruction. Lots of credit to George Harrison (RIP) for leading the Beatles on this endeavor. If only George could have successfully appealed to world leaders of the time into joining him and his bandmates and friends on the same interior journey, in which case, there probably would never have been a war in Vietnam. In retrospect, Dear George certainly seemed to be on the right track. (What about these days? Are we...on the right track?)

What, like the Beatles didn't then split up amidst bitter recriminations and personal feuds that lasted until JL's death and beyond? Great model for world peace, I must say. And what role did hardcore drugs play in all this again? Total and utter romantic-delusional codswallop! Oh, and by the way, for those who live there (close to 1.5bn people - soon-to-be the world's most populous country, if not already) India neither is nor was it ever "a remote part of the world" - not even Rishikesh situated on the Ganges river. As for Vietnam , how, exactly, does its 100 million people living on the border of the world's other most populous country comply with your definition of "remote"??? A Western-centric worldview accompanied by a heavy dose of Orientalism thrown in. Well done for total lack of self-awreness or perspective. Maybe that's why this vision of peace and love that you are so quick to ascribe to the Beatles never quite took off: it has little-to-no link with reality!!! So, in answer to your question: no, you are clearly not on the right track.

Amazing to listen to all these years later, still as great ever. Pure Lennon at his greatest. The "look around" refrain is stunning. The guitars are perfect. The coda with Ringo's fantastic drumming and Paul's extraordinary bass knocks me out.

...here's something I wrote as a response to a comment below referencing how virtuosity itself does not necessarily qualify as great art. 'So true. And it's distinctly human - something that AI will never recreate.'
