Second part of the video on some Beatles song solos now from 1965 to 1967. This time we used the Epiphone Casino, the Fender Rocky and the Gretsch Country Gentleman plugged into a VOX AC30/6TB. We hope you enjoy it!

It’s interesting how in this middle/psychedelic/65-67 period, when George was more interested in sitar, that Paul played a lot more of the intricate solos.
@AlexG-ok1zc2 жыл бұрын
Agreed, and I'd also argue that Lennon's playing was very underrated. Particularly his rhythm/chordal/fingerstyle playing.
@Mandrake5912 жыл бұрын
Paul’s lead playing was a little more flashy, but George had a lot of classic solos too, I love the way they all played. They worked so hard, so much dedication. A real band.
@beatleszilla2 жыл бұрын
@@Mandrake591 definitely not knocking George, he was clearly the better guitarist. Just an observation. Because once the White Album came around, George was back as a rock guitarist
@stevescontriano8602 жыл бұрын
It’s because Paul wrote the song. And he didn’t want George to screw it up. So if George couldn’t play the solo Like Paul wanted or as good as Paul could. Paul would do it himself. What do you think the Beatles broke up. Because Paul was writing all the music. Kind of like the man in charge. And the Beatles were sick of it. And Ringo was just sitting there thinking and saying you know me fellas. I’M JUST HAPPY TO BE HERE. PRETTY MUCH STONED ALL THE TIME
@moshikkz21582 жыл бұрын
@David Beckey In the Beatles repertoire George had much more great solos to his credit. Paul and John only had a few. If you take George's best lead work in the Beatles compared to the other two, well ... there's no comparison.

"Good Morning" is so Paul. I'm amazed I never realized that. "The Night Before" being Paul and George? Brilliant. Sort of foreshadowing the astonishing work the two did on "And Your Bird Can Sing"... As for "Nowhere Man", I've heard it was John for years, but George and John playing it simultaneously is a new twist (for me) that makes sense, and would explain the unique texture it has.

@@erictrafalgar5021 George started to get into Indian music, I think he even had aspirations of becoming a recording artist over there. Also with the case of Taxman, George couldn't play the solo so Paul had to fill in. This was also the case with And Your Bird Can Sing with Paul playing the second guitar (not sure if George couldn't play the whole solo on one guitar) but either way you don't need a random comment to tell you what a phenomenal guitarist George was

Mal Evans went out and bought both of those Stratocasters for George and John. In fact, the "Rocky Strat" is the actual Strat that we hear on Nowhere Man. George painted over the Sonic Blue finish turning it into the "Rocky Strat."
