Personally liked the 2015-2016 spurs team better, Aldridge was integrated beautifully and he wasn't exposed on defense cos 40 yr old Duncan was still so effective in the paint. Manu TP9 were aging but stll contributed. But the biggest factor (other than LaMarcus) was Kawhi's emergence as a superstar, dude lit the league cos he's so good both ways. 2014 team was fantastic, but 2015-2016 could've won a chip any other year (OKC series was reallly close, and GSW was having a once in a lifetime season)

i dont know about all that . but they were in the zone as one unit like i have never seen before. That was literally the finest basketball i have ever seen and the best passing i have ever seen, and the best display of teamwork i have ever seen. It was mostly just being in the zone. and you can tell that was the reason because the next year they tapered off quite a bit. it was because the year before they lost to the heat barely and it really really really stung them. there is like a whole documentary on it i seen before.

as a side note. when people talk about lebron losing to the spurs this year. i find it ridiculous. when they blame lebron for losing to this spurs team in 2014. it kind of illustrates where a lot of people get misguided when having the goat conversation. a lot of people consider wins and losses when having the goat conversation and its so ridiculous. this is a team sport. the difference between lebron, or jordan etc is so minuscule. and the 2014 spurs team shows you how much more relevant the team you play on and the competition you face is. In my opinion duncan should be in the goat conversation. if the difference between kobe , lebron, and jordan is miniscule than (duncans leadership) being able to make all the other 12 players on your team minuscule better. to keep it simple look at it like this. kobe avg 27 points per game, tim duncan 23. a difference of 4 points. but duncan makes everyone on his team score 2 extra points where kobes teamates only score 1 extra point ( if that he was a poor leader imo) then thats +12 points to kobes 27 for a total of 39 and plus 24 to duncans 23 for a total of 45

Splitter was a huge part of the 2014 championship run I agree he's very underrated. He was a terrible rebounder, however. He was an incredible defender, great hands and great passer (way better than Bogut), was crafty around the rim, and was exceptional on the PnR.

@Chris Williams The thing is that in a way they did something never seen before... If we speak of iconic teams in NBA history : There was the 60s Celtics which were dominant as hell. There was the Showtime from the Lakers and their superstars leaded by Magic. The 80s Celtics were strong as hell being able to attack defend against any given team and/or superstar. There was the 94 Knicks which were (in my opinion) one of the greatest defense ever created. The Bulls during the second three peat were the same as the 80s Celtics : dominant in offense, strong in defense, well balanced between the two sides etc... The lakers of early 2000 decade were dominant, mostly thanks to Shaq inside and the young Kobe. The Heat of early 2010 were incredible through their capacity of playing high quality and clever defense and good offense through their superstars. The Warriors of 2016 (for the regular season) and 2017 were so dominant, defensively and offensively with their ability to play small ball, shoot 3s consistently etc... But the 2014 Spurs were the "first" time in history we saw a team being so selfless, able to create better chance of shoots each and every possession only by moving the ball. Whenever it was hard, the previously cited teams would get the ball to their go-to guy and go away (KAJ, Bird or Parish, MJ, Kobe or Shaq, Lebron or Wade, KD or Steph etc...). So in a way, it was the first ever team to play full team-basketball and at a high level or consistency and IQ. So I understand why some people say they are the best "team" since all great teams from history are addition of great players without real heart (i'm not saying Duncan, Ginobili, Parker or Kawhi are not great players ^^). PS : Celtics 88 are not the best Celtics team in my eyes, I prefer the 86 one :)

I think it's just about unanimous at this point that Pop is by far the best coach. He gets along great with his players and makes just about any player in the league buy into his system. One of the greatest coaches of all time.

Yeah, they're so underrated because they don't have two star players. I don't know if kawhi could lock down Jordan... maybe. We'll never know. That one matchup would decide the game, so it'd be hard to know for sure. Manu couldn't take pippen, unfortunately. Rodman on Duncan would result in rodman getting his ass eaten. Rodman is a great defender, but Duncan's post play is brutal. We'll never know for sure, and even tho I've been a bulls fan for life, the spurs are incredible.

This Spurs team has the record at winning the finals by 70 points...the Warriors best team won at their best by 60 points(2nd best). so yes....the 2014 Spurs would most likely have beaten the 2017 Warriors with Durant by a few points per game maybe around 6 pts. And both times both teams happened to play against a team with Lebron on it. Lebron said twice that 2014 Spurs were the best team he ever played against and the second time he said that was after the 2017 finals.
