I feel so obligated to take pictures, when I put my phone away I worry I’m missing capturing a moment and memory. I realized because of social media I feel anxious truly living life. I think many gen z people can relate to this POV.
@shen8171

Same, I used to get this way too. But then I thought to myself, how often do I rewatch those concert videos I took? The answer is literally never. Unless it’s a picture of my mum, someone else I love, or a really special place, I don’t think there’s any need. I can just take one picture then actually enjoy where I am. The more you do that, the brighter the memory will be in your mind- and I think that’s more special than loads of photos at times💗

@@shen8171 Agree! I now started to implement this a lot in my life. Just shoot a 10 second max long vid to remind me about that day or place and then put my phone away and enjoy the moment, only that way would that picture or short vid be a beautiful memory. I'm also trying to save up for a good camera as I'm slowly realizing that capturing these precious moments is more valuable than I thought. I'm doing it not just for me, but for the future generations!
@oatmeal789

I use to be like that. But taking pictures and capturing every moment of my life just added burden on my mind. It made super attached to them and sad that those moments are gone. “Less is more” is truly a life changing word. Now I’d rather be fully present in those moments and keep them in my memories. Now that I don’t try to hold on to every aspect of my life my mind is more cleaner and at peace.

Zeyno Pasvan if you say that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, you mean that other peoples situations always seem better or more attractive than your own, but really this is how everyone feels - the people on the other side of the 'fence' probably see greener grass elsewhere. the moral is to be content with what you have.

First, my friend...good for you :) Second, those you see on social media are not "living their best". 99% are made-up, and people on sm rarely - if ever - show their real day-to-day. It's all an illusion. However, good job for leaving social media. I left as a bday present to myself in 2018, and I can't ever imagine going back to it. It's truly a life-changing difference, and a good one. Books are awesome ;))

Whenever I used to feel inspired or moved by a KZfaq video and was about to comment, I always became a little dissuaded by the fact that there were already so many comments, and that mine wouldn't be seen. That forms part of that social media culture you spoke of, the 'is my stuff good enough to share/say' feeling because we are comparing constantly. But I realised with time, that whether or not the video poster sees this, someone else will and it may make a difference to them. Anyway, thank you for this beautiful video, and you are very wise and enlightened for a 24 year old. I often yearn to live in the country, even though it isn't an easy life. Love and light xx

When I was your age I had a friend in high school. We were not in the popular group. He had more difficulty than I even though he came from a well off family. We would go on a hiking trip every year. We lost touch after we went to college. I guess he still couldn't find happiness after college while I ended up getting married. He decided to end his life. I too had difficulties but could not understand his choice. Now, almost 50 years later, I still think of the experiences he missed out on having. My life has drastically changed maybe 5 times in all these years and I am a totally different man now than when I was younger. Be patient with yourself. If you are draw to this channel and Paola's story it is because life touches you and you are more alive than most, so you feel more. Be patient and kind to yourself. Life has many more good than bad experiences for you. Learn to find simple things that bring you happiness like Paola. Those experiences will begin to fill your soul. Blessings young one.

When I watch your videos, I feel like I'm getting a break from reality and is like a breath of fresh air. I've wanted to live in the forest since I was little, run with long dresses through its trees, stop near streams and dance with the fish, watch the sun set and the stars rise again. I don't know, watching your videos makes me think that it's possible, that I dont have to follow what everyone else is pushing on me (college, city life, social media, traveling the world) and just live how I want to. Thank you for your videos.

I totally agree, with only the caveat that I was always a hobby photographer anyway, even back when film was so expensive for me that I couldn't ever take as many pics as I wanted to! Hence I've always liked perusing various accounts on Instagram and posting pretty photos of my own now and then, little anonymous memories of moments in my world. But funny thing is, back in the day if Instagram had been, say, a magazine to which people would submit their amateur photographs, well, the pleasure would've been much the same! The fast-paced, hyperactive and overly complicated milieu of Facebook was actively damaging and alienating. I've begun calling people on the phone again (and sending emails and letters) and though I've gotten some bemused reactions, for the most part people seem to really like it. :-)

Whoa! It’s been a strange year going from a flip phone a few years back to making videos, and I can say I have enriched my life in many ways through this + realized how important it is to keep a balance when it comes to social media. When I started making videos I felt like I was nurturing my inner child, taking great joy in finding beautiful ways to showcase everyday objects and activities through the lens of a camera. I shared what I was excited and passionate about, because it was one of the best ways to keep me feeling positive and happy last year. This was a challenge to maintain once my channel started to grow. I felt a lot of pressure to share more and more details about my personal life and relationships (the good, bad, and ugly). Sharing these things seems to be associated with being authentic online, but I do not believe that is necessarily true, and can deter more shy or introverted people from opening up or sharing their art. I believe you do not need to share intimate details that would feel invasive to your privacy, especially when it isn’t relevant to what you are creating. Instead, through my words I like to communicate my heartfelt thoughts and trials of daily reality. But when it comes to imagery, I wish to capture everyday beauty - and that passion for art is the most genuine and authentic thing that I can offer other people ❤️ My definition of authenticity will always be: sharing from your heart and celebrating things you love, while respecting your own personal boundaries. These videos are short films, exploring art and imagination and ideas. And that is why it brings me joy to share them with you, and connect through reading your stories and thoughts. I value that more than any other part of this channel.

Thank you again and again for your comments. I am unable to answer my dm’s on IG so please comment below and I will respond if I am able. My name is Paola, I am Puerto Rican American, and I am 24 years old.

I’m trying to break myself of my KZfaq addiction. Yet, here I am watching your videos, curious about your lifestyle. You’re not just living alone, you seem interested living in a different time. I was in my late 30s before I could afford a place of my own. I loved my tiny two level utility near the ocean. It was a great experience, lived as I pleased and also faced a lot of my inner demons. Grieved much loss I experienced in my childhood and early adult years. Now I live in a state park with my partner of 20+ years. Not all has turned as I hoped, but with his support, I got my master’s and have a happier career as a teacher. Still, I will be honest, I miss my little place.

I go on social media to live vicariously through others who actually have friends and lovers. @@tychopanda Hello, I would not say that I am happy since I have some problems to solve, however I can say that I am better than before, I understand what you say and I must admit that sometimes I do feel alone, but I felt very lonely when I used the social networks, I think the key is to understand and learn to be your own company, nurture your being with things that you like and begin to value the time you spend alone, over time there will be opportunities to meet the right people, until that time comes, I hope you find the best way to live your reality in a healthy and happy way, I currently maintain the KZfaq social network, I think that not all social networks are bad, you just have to control the content you consume, good luck 💜

I got a degree that could get me in the corporate world but I just don’t feel like that is what is meant and aligned for me. I resonate so much more with a calm and slow life. I hate that every job says you have to be able to work in “a fast paced environment” and do as much as possible, when I just want to slow down and take my time to do things well. @Linda I agree completely, though I'm 63, that's how I lived as well. I brought my children up in the country because I wanted them to know the quality, simple life, to play outside and to know what real working is. They all are successful and hard workers, just wish technology hadn't changed to this point, drawing them into the fast changing tech life. But, this is what they call, progress.

Hii poorba.... Actually i also have been suffering from anxiety because I see alot on social media about big house, billionaire life, luxury car and women doing Skincare sometimes i also get obsessed with all these things btt having seen her video about simple life I feel these things are more important than having luxurious life... Nowadays people are much aware about money, looks and skincare btt no one is actually focusing on clean water, Air and food

@@khushbookhushboo6323 Yes dear🤍 and I think By cultivating thoughts for a simple joyful life we can actually find big happiness in small things. and that also motivate us to freedomly nourish our soul with goodness because then we don't have much insecurities or big expectations 🥀 Calmness is a thing most people often don't find it to be focused much initially but as life goes on we learn it's important. 🌼 Paola's video really helped me to learn the skills of living life (mostly peacefully 🤍) I came across the true concept of life and it's beauty♥ I hope my words radiated some good feelings to you. Wishing you a life you get satisfied with ❣

I do love the aesthetic, but at the same time when I see these "cottagecore" version of being outdoorsy and down to earth I feel a different pressure from the glamour of the city, like it has to be perfect and pure. That everything is polarized and I get what you mean about yearning for city life in the country and vice versa. For me this is why I am moving to a small town with lots of nature. Small enough to have "country" aspects, but big enough to have community, friends, things to do.
@ruok3351
@ruok3351 Жыл бұрын
Believe me, she knew exactly what she was doing when she moved to the country. It's less about yearning for the simple life, but more about the creating an online persona to earn a living. Straight up business. Like if I'm a photographer and I want my content to be dark and urban, sure as hell Im not gonna keep on living in a sunny place with lots of palm trees. I'd move elsewhere.

@@ruok3351 I don't think it's a bad thing at all, as long as she feels suitable of living that way. Life isn't easy anyway, so create a social media persona that vividly represents yourself would also take efforts. She also stated that she wants this channel to be about happy and thoughtful days of hers, not daily struggles (like the majority of people out there who uses social media). Key point here is that she dared to live her life, while finding ways to sustain it, and I do find it's inspiring, whether it's business or not
@tme98
@tme98 Жыл бұрын
@@duyhiep0808 Well, she says the problem with social media is people end up feeling inadequancy. If she only portrays the "nice" "perfect" ambience of her setting, she is actually contributing to it. I agree with Ruok and Staria here, there was something "off" about this video appearing "too" perfect. It's like a romantizised version of life and not a realistic one.
@duyhiep0808
@duyhiep0808 Жыл бұрын
@@tme98 Yea i get what you mean, she doesn't really do a great job of portraying the realistic life out there. Maybe that's why i don't feel attracted to her channel enough to watch it on a daily basis. But then again, I don't have anything against it, whether business or not. She does her best, and whether it's suitable or not, the result will speak for it, and it's up to her whether to adjust things or keep it that way for personal purposes

I appreciate you keeping this a calm and happy space. The internet can be such a negative space and misery seems to love company so it’s often hard to avoid. I find myself unable to read the news as I cannot help reading the comments which are always full of negativity, sometimes I long for an actual newspaper where I am influenced only by the story and not others option of the story.

Emily, decades ago I stopped reading newspapers, reading magazines, watching any news whatsoever, etc. The trade off of maybe one good uplifting story wasn’t worth all the other horrific images and horrific stories. Even when I go on my email I have all these cut out cardboards that I place all over the laptop screen first so I don’t get inundated with all the negativity and horrific images they purposely put on there for all of us to see. I always say structure your life in such a way that works for you to maintain your happiness and joy. And meditate 🧘 often. Namaste 🙏.
