Okay, I see this comment on basically every single video about beta Minecraft and nobody ever explains what they mean. Wth is more complex about modern MC compared to the older versions; I've been playing since 1.2.5 and I have noticed no real complexity changes at all. The way you mine blocks is the same, the way you build is the same, the way you farm is the same, the way you fight is basically the same. There's nothing complex about the game at all, there's just more of it. I've even went back to the older beta/alpha versions, and while I did have fun, there was very little I did different in terms of the actual gameplay, even the supposed "vibes" that are supposed to be there invoking a feeling of loneliness wasn't all that different than playing a modern world. The only difference is that there were just less physical things I could do, less blocks to build with and less mobs to interact with. I feel like this entire narrative of "older MC used to be better" is just a serious case of nostalgia, of wanting to go back to knowing very little about a game, about wanting to be a kid again, about wanting to go back to a time when Minecraft was the biggest indie gaming the world and not just "a Part of Microsoft". I'm really not trying to be mean or anything, but I really feel like people are missing the forest for the trees here and are ascribing a simple wish for a nostalgic past to Minecraft being ruined by complex systems and esoteric design as of it was an A-train game or something.

I'm going to explain that here because I am one of the people that thinks the newer versions of the game are more complex. First of all, (and maybe only for my and a few other people case) I haven't really played the game after 1.13 release which was 6-7 years ago. The reason is because I was limited to xbox 360 version which had less mechanics, blocks and things to do overall because the world was very small. When I got my first PC, I started playing minecraft on version 1.8 and stopped enjoying the game at around version 1.10 (the update where polar bears were added) and when 1.13 released I came to a conclusion that game changed a bit too much for my liking. I don't like how 1.13 added so much things like buried treasures, shipwrecks and faster swimming even though these are good changes. And after that, I haven't played Minecraft for another 5 years. I wanted to come back to the game in 2023 when update 1.20 released, but sadly, I got to the point where I didn't know what to do because of the amount of new features that were added after 1.13. I didn't enjoy playing the game as much as I used to when I was younger. Beta versions of Minecraft were really limited in terms of amount of everything basically and it's the thing I was used to and can't get un-used to. From what I can see, I'm not the only person that has this problem or feeling. Another thing is the nostalgia that just hits me whenever I turn on version 1.0 or even older ones. I love getting back to my old good memories where I was playing the game on xbox with big limits which I really hated back then, but now, I view it as a good thing. Seeing something old and outdated that brings amazing memories is one of the best feelings and the only game that does that well is Minecraft's old versions. There you go :) Also, sorry for my weird english.

Well yeah, not that it got more complex. There's just much more stuff in it than it used to be. I grew out of the game, but I really love coming back to the old versions to feel the nostalgia. That's all from me :)

@@Briskeeeenthe sheer number of blocks mobs and systems that have been added are really quite overwhelming imo, they’re nice for builders but I think the reason some people prefer older versions is because it’s easier to just sit back and play without really thinking too hard EDIT: I also think that the way people play modern Minecraft has become so optimized that it feels like you’re /supposed/ to build huge industrial farms and get op gear with the best enchantments whereas when you play these older versions I don’t really get that same feeling

yeah beta is just simply beta. everyone will have their own reasons for playing it. for me its just the slow pace and blank canvas vibes. it's just nice to do something because you want to do it, with no outside influences or anything else. it's a completely open-ended world with no set direction or path you need to go down.

i know in golden age mc that adventure update is frowned upon, but i cant imagine how cool of an update it mustve been in the moment, it added so many things im sure people got on that day and were hella excited to play

i'm not very good with the whole story telling aspect, i think it would be cool to have sort of an arg type of series/video at some point but aaa planning and executing are rough sometimes, especially with limited motivation xD

yeah i really wish i could go back to my first world, it was a realm with a highschool friend, only played it about a month but it would be really cool to play it and explore it again
