Yes! Watching the process is far better than constant chatter! I'm with you on these crumb quilts; they are fun and oh sooo liberating! And, when we consider the amount of $$$ we spend on fabric, all those scraps add up! This is a great way to maximize scraps, and exercise our creative mind (break ALL the rules 😲)❣Lindsay, Sacramento.

Rocky, YES, I agree! I'm an artist (painter) that experienced a devastating injury years ago. Standing in front of large canvasses painting with my arms extended out in front of me just wasn't working for me (serious spinal & neck injuries), so I got out my sewing machine (Phi Phi), dusted her off & put the petal to the metal❣ Now, I can't imagine not quilting! My approach: large, colorful, abstract art quilts which has seriously challenged my patience 🤣 too many times to count. If I suddenly feel like a quilt is not going quite the way I had hoped for, out comes the seam ripper. Or, a partially assembled quilt may be on my design wall a couple of months, due to design roadblocks, before I move forward and get it done! If I've learned anything during this quilting THING, it IS patience (something ive never been good at 🙄). I've been quilting for 25 years now; my Seam Ripper and I are the best of friends. Hey, I've named my sewing machine (actually I have 3, but I refer to them all as Phi Phi [Fifi]), but I need a name for my Seam Ripper (how about Jack the Ripper; Jack for short?). Weee, quilting IS FUN, but it CAN/DOES test one's patience! And, Sew On. Lindsay, Sacramento❣

@@lindsayschilling8707 I can relate. I have an old neck injury that acts up, and some days I cannot sit at my machine. So I always have some handwork going. Right now I have a vintage looking hexagon EPP quilt going, and I have several quilts in my sewing room I am working on. I have so many scraps, I am going to try crumbs. It looks fun. I had to learn patience as well. After years of running around, (4 kids, house, job, school), I am retired now and find it hard to just go slowly and enjoy the process. I work on that every day.

I’ve been looking at chrome quilting videos for several weeks and gave up after several. I finally just located yours today, Christmas Eve afternoon, and it’s the one that makes most sense for what I wanna do. I have a lot of little pieces. I have never done crumbs Sewing before, and I have never ever wanted to, but now I see The crumb drawer of purples and turquoise and another drawer of Green and blue crumbs and I cannot give them away as I see a quilt out of each of these piles. But I’ve never figured out how to put the odd tiny pieces together until I saw your particular video. I’ve watched several of your videos and really enjoy them, but as other said this one, just watching and not listening to any words, was the most helpful of any. As they say a picture is worth 1000 words. That said, I do enjoy your videos when you’re talking and explaining things.

Mark, you are so so so right about this being relaxing on tough days!!! I have mild ocd, and stress induced anxiety. Nothing the requires meds or treatment. Just that, sometimes I need a chance to step back and decompress. Surprisingly enough, more often than not, that involves quilting! I have had people ask me how can that be relaxing w my ocd? Well I dont know why! But it is!! Quilting is the one thing that in 17yrs, my ocd has never taken over! Its my "me time" my "relaxing and serenity time". Right now we are remodeling 2 houses in 2 states and getting ready to move in 2months. So i cant really get to my quilting stuff easily. But i can get to my scrap boxes. ( yes plural, I hate to waste fabric!) So the other night after seeing you do crumb blocks, I got out the scrap boxes and went to town.... 16 blocks later it was 4am and I was completely relaxed, and had no idea I had gone so long!! I know what I will be doing on winter nights on the farm!! Thank you so much for your inspiration! And for your service to our country!!!

These are my favorite quilts. When I make clothes for my kids I save the big scraps not knowing why. Now when I make a quilt from them it will bring back memories of those clothes. So it becomes not only a colorful quilt but a memory quilt for me. ;) Weren't these known as "Crazy Quilts?"

I have the same drawer. Because of what you mentioned, I am having a hard time not working with a plan. You helped. Knowing it will take time to finish it, knowing it will be a one block a day or week or month, gives hope to the scraps that want to live! I do have a great idea to share: put a couple of finished blocks in the quilt. Make it a true I Spy quilt.

I've just discovered TQM a day ago and really am getting into it. Today I, too, started noting the firearms on the sewing table... a different one in different videos. I've seen several videos and yours is the first comment I've seen that even mentions it! Surely others have noticed it so I'm not only wondering about its presence in the videos but that there's been very limited comment on it.
