Christopher Nolan (director of the movie) consulted an astrophysist with every depiction of space, fourth dimension, entering a black hole and the spacetime continuum. This movie is the closest to what any of those would look like. It's the most astrologically accurate movie out there at the moment.

This movie single-handedly inspired me to be a physicist and motivated me to work hard on math (which I used to be not so good at). 8 years since then and that childhood curiousity instilled in me still hasn't worn off. Now in my second year of university studying physics and I'm considering specializing in gravitational physics! Thank you Christopher Nolan! You're truly an inspiration.

@@maxgeorge1463 To be honest I watched 2001 a space odyssey and read all the books as well with the film actually being first, and I can safely say that the 2001 a space odyssey book is miles better than the movie. I feel that it's pretty much a status quo that 2001 a space odyssey must be the best sci-fi film ever made and a masterpiece in every regard. Upon my first viewing of 2001, I was definitely left with a strong impression, but the more I thought about it and upon trying to rewatch it, it just felt empty. And after I read the book which is an absolute work of genius my whole experience with the movie crumbled to dust. I feel like the movie is so lost in its grandeur of painstakingly long scenes of ships floating and beautiful space scenery and revolutionary special effects that it kind of forgets to tell a story. There is an eerie vibe to 2001, but not in a good way and rewatching it was an absolute chore with all the overly dragged scenes. Meanwhile I have watched Interstellar 7 times and I can still get a great level of enjoyment and emotion every time I do. It feels so much more grounded in human emotion and tells a beautiful, heartbreaking but hopeful story about love being able to cross the boundaries of time and space. It doesn't get lost in its cosmic wonder and never goes off track with its story, and it all culminates in the most memorable ending to me that makes me shed tears every time. I honestly can't even compare the two movies. I don't feel like 2001 is a story as much as it is a revolutionary but mostly experimental project, or what feels like one.

It was a hot summer day in 2021. Everyone decided to go to the beach however I wanted to do something different. I saw that my local cinema started to play older legendary movies like Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings and... Interstellar, which at that point I had never heard off. I was like: I like space so you know what, let's go to it! The moment I walked in that movie theatre it already felt special, just walking in from 40 degrees outside to a nice cold cinema and already that ambience sound playing in the room. I walked into the cinema hall and saw that there was one other person sitting there. An older guy from around the 50. He told me before the movie that he already watched it around 15 times and that he was really happy that he could relive it in the cinema's just like 2014. I had 0 expectations for this movie, because I had never heard of it before. I hadn't even watched the trailer, I was like you know if it's really bad I'll just walk outside and go to the pool 1 kilometer away from there. Then the movie started, I was stunned. I am 100% sure that you can't experience this movie then same when you watch it at home on a cheap tv. For the whole movie it just felt amazing and what a watch this is! When the movie ended me and the older man just had a look at eachother and we knew exactly what we both meant. To this day it is still one of the most unique experiences in my life and I just wished that cinema's did this more not only because of covid, but because it's just a special experience. Will this comment get lost in here? Probably. Do I sound pathetic after typing all of this? Probably, but I don't mind. I just wanted to share my experience and I hope y'all can have this same experience once! ✨

My all-time favorite quote is from Interstellar: “We’ve always defined ourselves by the ability to overcome the impossible. And we count these moments. These moments when we dare to aim higher, to break barriers, to reach for the stars, to make the unknown known. We count these moments as our proudest achievements. But we lost all that. Or perhaps we’ve just forgotten that we are still pioneers. And we’ve barely begun. And that our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us, because our destiny lies above us.”

I started studying art and cinema this year. It teached me how to really look at a moovie and now, i can see the complexity of each scene. Nolan knows how to bring signification with his camera settings and with the composition of the shots. Many scenes are made for a crush effect with the spectator. The look doesn't get lost and the music fits perfectly with the grandiosity of the shots. Nolan is a genius.

I walked out of the IMAX theatre speechless. Interstellar, to me, deserves its own category. It’s not just a “sci-fi movie”, or merely another “space film”, it’s an experience. Everything, the acting, the storytelling, the practical effects, the design of the props, the cinematography, and of course the brilliant soundtrack, worked incredibly well together. I was shook to the core for at least a month after seeing the movie, rewatching clips of it, listening to Hans Zimmer’s outstanding OST, and just being fascinated by space. Christopher Nolan is a genius, this film is my absolute all time favorite modern movie.

It is not very practical though. They didn't get spaghettified upon reaching the black hole and lot other physics bending things. But the the movie itself was outstanding. The music had me sobbing in the theatre and I was thankful for the darkness as I would have been embarrassed for being teary eyed.

Anyone who calls Interstellar overrated is probably one of those people who can't sit through a film that doesn't have cheesy one liners, clichéd plots and pointless, uncoordinated action scenes in the first three seconds. Interstellar is a film that opens up your mind, literally! First time I watched it I spent 4 good hours after the movie thinking about how irrelevant humanity is in the grand scheme of things. We are but a speck of dust in the universe as a whole. If I have kids, they'll definitely watch it

I sometimes divide movies in 2 categories. The first is for movies with such deep meaning and maybe incredible visuals or acting. They might not touch us emotionally but they represent the greatness of films(movies like "The Master"). The second category is for movies that just manipulate our feelings. Their plot might sometimes weak but nonetheless they have a deep impact in us. Interstellar is one of the few exceptions where a movie belongs to both of these categories. A movie that has a production, visuals, plot, action sequences, acting and soundtrack so amazing that it shows how far and how deep cinema can go, and at the same time give you depression for a couple of weeks and you can't stop thinking about it all day because it made you feel something you've never felt before

I’m so glad to know I’m not the only one who was so profoundly moved by this movie. There has never ever been another movie that gave me the extreme emotional experience I got from watching this. It was such a range of emotions...from the creepiness and loneliness of being in deep space so far from home, to the completely alien nature of black holes, to the human emotion intertwined with hard scientific theories like general relativity. Theres this song that just changed my life forever. Its not like other songs, its not pop, rock, punk, none of those. i dont know how to explain what it feels to be listening to it. Its just a endless loop, it never ends it makes you cry, anger, depression, but its not ment to. It just does. While you may think this is just a regular song and you may ask why i am so big about it. Its just reminds me of my past. And my future, you will know what i mean when someonething happens when you realize everything isnt easy, and we wont be here forever. we are so lucky to be here. Its been a million years since we were created. And i ask, why arent we on mars yet? We are just staying here in this planet. Under the atmosphere. Nobody wanting to go farther. Just staying here. Waiting for death while the sun devours us in 7 billion years. We should be farther into our galaxy. Maybe even farther into our universe. I know, we do have NASA & SpaceX, Rosmoscomos, blue orgin. ETC. but thats just 1% of us. We need to work together, We need to be willing to explore more. Not just the sea, Not just our planet, not just our solar system, nor star nor galaxy, but our universe. We need to go father than ever before. More than anyone has ever explored. We are willing to land on other bodies of solid rock, or even dust. We need to explore more before we fade away, or are we? Thats why i want everyone to help. So we can make that 1%, to a 100%. We are not the only living beings. We could be stuck in a 3D altered dimension controled by other beings. To prove that, we need to reach out of our solar system, out of our galaxy, out of our universe. And explore whats beyond. Listen, and you’ll see what i mean maybe. And lets explore more, remember do not go gentle into that good night. Its day one of exploring more.

I wouldn't be surprised if some little kid draws inspiration from this movie to become an astrophysicist and wins Noble or does something ground breaking.

@Coder boi You don't have to feel bad or anything. You can still be curious and try to be an amateur enthusiast and do it as a hobby. I am planning to buy my first telescope.

I remember seeing this film in the theater with my dad. I was about 11-12 years old, so a lot of it went over my head at the time. I watched it again for the first time since then last year, and I was crying by the end of it. Since then, it’s become one of my absolute favorite movies
