Thanks for your great reaction! It's fantastic so see new generations discovering the musical greatness of the Gibb Brothers. They have always been sort of under appreciated in modern music, which is such a shame. The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988. The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1966. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin'. From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bdSZi7aZnNy7gn0.html Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ja6PnZxhy6mtm2g.html, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rMx4iLZmssyUYIU.html. From their Still Waters album, Smoke and MIrrors: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g7ppqbV5uL2ykp8.html. From the 1960's I've gotta get a message to you kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eadkdqyfqdS4m2w.html.

Great reaction. Love to see first time reactions, when someone hears a song they love then realise that the Bee Gees wrote it. Happens often

@Honi Mama - The first song is unusual but "1941 mining disaster" was written when the power went out and they were in a dark staircase. It made them think of being in a mine. Just before they wrote it there was a mining disaster in Aberfan, Wales that killed over 100 children and also some adults. That influenced their song. I see you were startled at Robin's unique, beautiful voice. Maurice was always joking on stage and his twin Robin (fraternal not identical) also had a tremendous wit. They always tried and usually succeeded in making Barry laugh. They sang "Too much heaven" here in their normal voices instead of falsetto. The brothers wrote "Heartbreaker" for Dionne Warwick, "Islands in the Steam" for Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, "Guilty" and "Woman in Love" for Barbra Streisand, "Come on over" for Olivia Newton John, "Chain Reaction" for Diana Ross (The Supremes), "Immortality" for Celine Dion, and others. Jaye here mentioned Barry's childhood accident and terrible burns. Robin was also almost killed in a train wreck at 17 years old when a rail missed decapitating him by inches. Over 50 died and he helped pull out bodies and rescue the injured. The horror stayed with him for life. They also had an older sister Lesley who could sing but chose a different path in life, and a younger brother Andy who was a solo singer but died at 30 of a heart infection.

I LOVED your reaction. Many covered their songs from the time they were teens, and they could custom write for anyone, so when the disco backlash happened, they took so time off from being Bee Gees and focused on writing and producing whole, VERY successful albums for other artists, including Barbra Streisand, Kenny Rogers, Dionne Warwick, and Diana Ross, then relaunched their career in 1987 with YOU WIN AGAIN. Please react to the official video. They never quit. Their story is very inspirational. And... there is a 4th brother, Andy Gibb. Please react to his first #1 I JUST WANT TO BE YOUR EVERYTHING.

Just a melodic played acousticguitar and three brothers singin' so, so clear and beautiful. Noone can compare to them, doin' so. And believe me, you have no idea, how many songs they've written for other supastars as well. For excample, check out Diana Ross with 'Chainreaction'.
