The best reaction to this beef by far. The thing about Em too, he never tried to be no gangster. He knew who he was. To shed light on the OGs to his white fan base, I always respected him for that.

Drake on the other hand loves the attention fame brings him and is always in the lime light taken pics, in videos, or clinging to whoever is hot at the moment (see sexy red). There are literal clips of millie bobby brown at age 14-15 saying drake is texting her often about boy issues. If any father hears that a grown man texting his daughter hes getting curb stomped. Then there was drake dating a 18 year old model plus him kissin and oogling a 17 year old fan at his concert. Point being, drake had a track history of his dirt, thats why it hits harder. Plus kendrick is like 5’5. Not saying its impossible, but bro isnt intimidating by any stretch of the imagination

The conversation about Drake’s weird accent switch up is actually a problem I see throughout the Black community, especially with boys as they become men. I grew up on the Southside of Chicago, but I grew up in an Upper Middle Class area in a Jack and Jill adjacent community where everyone from Bronzeville, Kenwood, Hyde Park, The Highlands, and South Shore came from well to do families, attended the best schools, and all the kids and families always did activities together as a community. Once the boys started becoming teens and eventually adults, they all started speaking differently to make themselves sound more “hood” as if they didn’t go to high tea at the Four Seasons and drive luxury vehicles that their parents bought for them (something my family couldn’t even afford). We talk a lot about code switching to adapt to white spaces, but we don’t talk enough about Black people putting on a weird blaccent they learned from the media to assimilate into other Black spaces, regardless of whether they are mixed or not.
@dblr4931
@dblr4931 3 ай бұрын
So true. My son is 16 years old, he has never been to a hood of any sort. Once he turned 14, he began speaking a certain way. I speak very properly to the point that I have been made fun of all my life for "sounding white" so he hasn't been around people who speak that way. I had to ask him about it and told him not to speak that way around me. But he does with his friends. It sounds so forced with him. Weird.

@@dblr4931 We need more representation of Black people in Black spaces speaking freely in general. When I watch older videos on KZfaq of James Baldwin or MLK speaking, they speak with such eloquence and have such distinct voices. James Baldwin grew up in poverty and in the Black church in Harlem, and MLK grew up in the Black church in Atlanta, so they were not raised around any white people to learn how to “speak white.” They just spoke. I don’t know where this idea started but we need to show the range of experiences and voices in our community, not paint all Black people as one thing.

Those of us who knew Drake before he was Drake, and he was just Jimmy from Degrassi, we always knew he was corny and appropriating Black culture. Degrassi was such a white show too. I realize a lot of Black Americans didn't know about Drake until Wayne, so they had no idea how much Drake was faking. Drake was a celebrity kid, from Canada, raised by a white woman; he knows nothing about the Black experience, especially in America. Drake is not like us, this is why he can paint himself in blackface, call Black people racist, make jokes about slavery, and call Black Americans slaves.

THANK YOU KEV!!!! Everything thing you said about why you stop rocking with Drake like you used to was the EXACT same reason for me. Kendrick literally just described in words how many of US felt. So, while I was very much in supportive of Cole stepping away and choosing peace and maturity. I was also hear for Kendrick shedding light on Drake's BS and his clearly inappropriate relationships with teenagers. IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Cause I'm sick of this "he is falsely accused" ish. There are by far way more people who get away with sexually assaulting and/or grooming victims than there are people who are falsely accused. Don't believe me, ask 10 women if they have ever been sexually assaulted or abused and watch how many say yes. I bet about 6 of them and then ask then if charges were ever made or if they even told anyone. And watch how many say No. And it's because of this " it's false accusations" mentality. I'm not saying believe anything but when there are clear breadcrumbs left for you to see that something isn't right, 9/10 it's because something isn't right. This need for people to turn a blind eye to people who are clearly problematic is ridiculous. And what's sad is a lot of these people are parents, these poor children have no protection out here. True, but there's no such thing as a minor white woman. That would just be little white girls...and yeah, Drake likes 'em young. He starts grooming them early. He'll have a couple of chapters in Millie Bobby Brown's book in ten years. It's coming.

@rozwynn2349 2 ай бұрын
I was a fan of Dram and when that happened I was so horrified. And then in some interview he was asked about it, and Drake's response was "all music inspires other music". It would have taken nothing from him to give Dram his flowers for that and it would have pushed his career further. That didn't sit right with me and I stopped paying Drake any attention then so I missed all this stuff with the minors and the shots at all the women that he dated that dumped him I don't see how people stayed a fan of this "man" operating in bitter feminine, petty energy

34:04 And that's why it's called *racial ambiguity.* Don't get me wrong: if you got black in you, and you identify as black, then so be it; but don't act like y'all didn't notice that both Jhene Aiko and Kehlani stopped using the n-word. I respected kehlani for standing up to the full whites who thought that by hanging out with her they had an n-word pass, but it is very telling that she not only stopped using the word, she removed a song from all streaming services that was titled with that word.
