@HappyhorseKZfaq the Monte Marte acrylic paints are best- the consistency and the hues are wonderful- that’s the brand he uses- Also- the liquitex “Basics “ brand is very good- Expensive brands are not necessary- I’ve been following him since his very first video here- and prior used many brands of expensive acrylic- and found the Monte Marte and liquitex “Basics “ to work best- you notice he doesn’t use mediums- and water- He only uses water to clean brushes between darks to lights and color changes- also- wets bristles and then wipes excess off leaving bristles “damp “ There’s so many channels like The Art Sherpa where she promoted so much propaganda to her viewers- regarding buying expensive brand acrylics and the expensive brushes- all for monetary gain- Also the acrylic brand “Arteza” is very good- offers beautiful hues like the Monte Marte brand- sets of mixed beautiful colors- like the artist here talked about - he uses already pre- mixed colors- this achieves the beautiful clean colors within his paintings- And he doesn’t use black- he mixes compliments- to achieve - like dark greens (if you prefer limited palette) he will mix green and red- and adjust to create darks for the underpainting of foilage and leaves - The underpainting- is darker- and using the compliments of lighter - adjusting the darkness and such- Too many painters- have followed KZfaqrs and use “black” and the painting appears to garish- muddy- dark- There’s many oil painters who follow Bob Ross for example- and they buy black paint from another brand instead of the Bob Ross brand- Bob Ross never used black- his “midnight black” is a chromatic black- meaning it’s a combination of compliments mixed together- these painters ruin their look of the overall final painting because of using Black- giving that dark- garish- flat - some times muddy look- This artist has very clean color mixes- within his paintings- that’s why so many are attacked to his paintings- I think Apple Barrel acrylics are thin consistency? The liquitex “Basic” brand are cheap- but thick like the Monte Marte that he uses- consistency is key - to achieve painting like this artist and achieves better results with the many techniques-

@martinechamoux1051 look throughout his playlist- he has many lessons on various mountains- He is posting the phases of basic foundations for beginners- and of various ways to manipulate the brush to achieve various effects and why- As he stated- he is creating tutorials for beginners from start of basic foundations- in order Refer to his long list of videos here- there’s many tutorials of different mountains-- Here he is demonstrating the “dry brush” glazing effect achieved by manipulating brush AND consistency of paint- over dried product- to achieve the effects of distance - fog- and can be used to create hue effects- The idea is a basic foundation (in order following his prior lesson of how to handle- manipulate the brushes…, Refer to his title- The Beginners Series Cannot jump ahead- paint a mountain without knowing the basic foundations of handling the brushes- and how to create different effects- as seen here- mountain scene- created using dry brush technique- to achieve depth and fog- Tree- create texture to give illusion of bark The wall- create texture to give illusion of rough wall- This is about - use of the brushes- The takeaway here with this lesson- to create a mountain- the method is to first scrub in the shape- keeping in mind from the color mixing lesson- values changes while scrubbing in shape of mountain- next step is to use the “smear” method- using the painting knife- over the (scrubbed in mountain shape-) smear using knife- to create illusions of (highlights and shadows) further forming the mountains - characteristics-(shape and form)….
