In the 6th century, a group of missionaries settled outside the walls of Cremona, Italy, with the intention of converting the pagan Byzantine army to Catholicism, in the name of the martyred Saint Vincent. A church was built in 1120 to commemorate this event, then completely rebuilt at the end of the 16th century after ownership passed to the Barnabite clerics. The new tower retained the old bell from 1580, flanked by a larger bell that was later stolen during World War II. The state paid for the new bronze as war damage in 1950.

The two bells have been standing still for thirty years, as quintals of pigeon guano have clogged the holes in the ropes, settling them to the ground. Access to the bell tower is quite dangerous, due to the huge amount of live or dead birds. Accessing it was a difficult and dangerous task, but in the end we found a beautiful old bell.
In the 14th century there were two churches very close to each other, run by two different religious orders. One of these orders was rightly suppressed by Pope Pius V in 1571 and the Church of St James passed to more serious priests. These new priests also obtained the second church of St Vincent, which they decided to renovate by demolishing the other. The medieval Romanesque church was rebuilt, preserving the original walls that are still there, while the interior was filled with beautiful Baroque works. These were mostly transferred to other churches when it was deconsecrated and used as a hospital in 1780. With the reopening in 1806, the church regained some of its riches, which, however, came from other closed churches. The altar is the original one consecrated in 1600 by Bishop Noble.
