i held the aluminium handles one in hand....a friend bought he blade hq exclusive, i think....it is superb...expensive AF but for a hot minute i considered it. It is very cool! tbh...i never had a decent tanto yet...i have sharpened many for friends....but back then i was younger and thought tanto's look silly, tacticool! and now...i guess it comes with age.... 0.4 mm bte is ok....0.6 not so much. for me....the sweetspot would be 0.4 mm bte at 15 dps! I can live with that comfortably. performs well enough for any use and is still stable enough for even "hard core edc tasks" that's like "jumbo shrimp", right?

I just saw Metal Complex's video on the ZT0545 (which I just got on sale, which I thought was more fair than the typical asking price). It seems the old guard of US knife companies are not sure how to keep up. I'm not even sure how Spyderco can get along with just releasing more Para 3's in new steel types (I know they're doing more than that, but it can feel that way sometimes). I want them all to succeed but I'm not sure what the right answer is for them. Maybe the large factories just have too much overhead for today's market compared to the smaller shops like TRM, ABW, and Tactile. Maybe their path to continued relevance is partnering with these smaller shops to help their throughput, almost like an American OEM akin to the Kubey's and QSP's and Reate's of the world.

Hogue has somewhat stepped into that role. I agree that there should be more options for a USA-based OEM. The Taiwan factories are pretty good, but anything onshore would be a good thing

heh, I like the 0545 also but it seems MC was less impressed. It sounded like more of a meta-comment than anything about the knife itself. For me, it’s thin and light enough to be a back pocket carry but also long enough for a front pocket carry (in the way I like to rotate EDC knives). So, that’s neat. In fact, I have a lighter carry today, so it’s front pocket. Sounds similar to the way you carry this Bailout.

Go to a benchmade dealer or call one and ask them for the friends price on BM... MOST dealers will give you a 30% off retail or 20% off map... if it's a dealer you have a relationship with most will give you 30% off map or 40% off retail.

Interesting version of the bailout. However, IMHO that FDE colored blade would look better on the bailout that has the woodland green handle. The gray blade that comes on the woodland green handle would look better on the blue handled version in your video. Might buy the blue version and swap them out. Just my 2 cents.

I agree! I think the grey would look better with the blue also! My biggest complaint is the color coordination! 😎👍🏼🙏🏼🖖🏻

This type of steel (the m4) is not technically a stainless steel. Do you find that this might be an issue or is the steel good enough that I shouldn’t worry about it even if I take it close to bodies of water?

Salt water? I wouldn’t recommend it. Other bits depends on how much exposure. Damp and humid may be worse than having it in your pocket when you’re by the river. The cerakote coating protects all but the edge so your primary concern is losing edge to corrosion. So many variables make it difficult to accurately answer your question. The coating makes it more feasible for this knife versus an uncoated knife. Hope this helps! 👍🏼🙏🏼🖖🏻

@@adoseofdrew Thanks for the help. How would you recommend I take care of this type of steel to avoid corrosion? Would rinsing with fresh water and drying it off help avoid any issues?

@@Banlara1702 I don’t recommend water. Rubbing alcohol can help displace the water and reduce any film left by drying. There’s several EDC fluids you can use like EDCi and the like that I’ve found that works well 👍🏼🙏🏼🖖🏻

Yes benchmade is using cpm m4 not ingot m4.

Your video is solid, However, your bailout may be a replica. The thumb stud is shinny black and should be dark gray. And your pivot screw should be flat at the top instead it looks domed in your video. I say this because a seller just sent me a knock off replica from ebay and it feels very different comparing to my real one. The description said it was genuine. So I'm still fighting for my refund. You should take closer look friend.

I bought mine directly from Benchmade. I’m not concerned about counterfeiting from them. I no longer buy knives from large online swap-meet sites. I recommend knafsale if you’re having difficulties getting good originals. You often get what you pay for. 👍🏼🖖🏻🙏🏼
