Let’s talk about the benefits of Gotu Kola. Gotu Kola has been used as a natural remedy for thousands of years. It’s very popular in Indonesia and other countries. It’s known as the “student herb” because students have used it to help sharpen the mind and boost cognition, memory, brain function, and brain circulation.
Benefits of Gotu Kola:
1. Studies have shown positive effects of Gotu Kola for neuron dendrites. Gotu kola may help reverse damage in neuron interactions.
2. It has potential cognitive benefits, including:
• Increased memory/learning
• Increased acetylcholine (a neurotransmitter)
• Increased attention/motivation
3. It has potential neuroprotective properties, including:
• Protecting the brain from oxidation, toxins, heavy metals, etc.
4. It can increase telomerase activity by 8.8x. Telomerase is an enzyme that keeps adding DNA to the telomere. A telomere protects genes from being damaged. The shorter the telomere, the higher the risk you have for diseases. A telomere maintains gene stability and decreases the risk of age-related diseases.

Thank you for revealed wonder of Gotukola. Without knowing such immense benefits we just had herbal Gotukola in each plate in my little age because I love the taste of the scraped coconut mixed salad of Gotukola. We had a home garden with natural growth of it. Under the dried coconut leaves it grows very well. The poisonous chemicals added to the farmlands was the main threat for the natural growth of this wonderful plant in Sri Lankan lands. Anyway, I was able to gain academic achievement without much efforts. There is no doubt of the influence of Gotukola. Thanks to my loving mom, still growing Gotukola by her self in their home garden for our kids.

Oh, I'm so glad you've done this one. I've been supplementing Gotu Kola, on-and-off for quite some time and have felt that my mind, which has been extremely stressed, has sharpened up and the anxiety levels have decreased. Frankly, I'm nearer to my old self, though possibly, potentially better. It is advised that there is a break period from supplementation, which I've followed. I take a course of it, then drop it for about a month. Also, I'm hoping to grow it and looking for the best way. Gotu Kola - Centilla Asiatica or Manduckaparni - is hardy to zone 7. Considering I'm in East Anglia, I'll have to experiment a bit and see how and where it takes. Having Asperger's Syndrome, it appears to have been some benefit in that my communicative abilities seem to have improved, the nervous problems have diminished. It is also recommended for wound healing. It is said to improve the circulation to the skin. As I also have X-Linked Ichthyosis, an inherited complaint, I am looking into this as the skin is easily cracked, especially in winter.

@@melissafeds1344 Indeed. Just like a salad. Hold them all together and cut ‘em all into small pieces. Keep it a side and get sufficient amount of coconut powder with small red onions, tomato slices, green chillies with lime juice and salt. Mix and stir these first and then stir it with GOTUKOLA pieces. That’s all. Yes pregnant women usually take it.

Today I plan to make that Cauliflower Crust pizza and I’m enjoying the benefits of the intermittent fasting. I eat from 12-6pm only and when I eat, it’s mostly vegetables and lean meats. I’m down about 22 pounds overall and Saturday I wore a belt on a hole I haven’t used in five years. Covid weight was real. I was up to 238 and busting out of my size 36 board shorts. I’m 6’0. Now I’m approaching 215 and looking to stabilize at about 205 and jump back to my size 34 board shorts respectfully and not forced. Changing my eating patterns, amounts and types of food has created some conflict and confusion in the home (wife) but I’m not entirely sure why. However I’m seeing her make independent efforts to change her eating behaviors as well. So I’m happy to see this. Thanks for the great content and a great new way to relate to food and nutrition. Lunch is a small steak salad. Dinner tonight is the cauliflower crust pizza. We shall see !

'Gotu Kola' is a Sri Lankan sinhalese name for a cup shaped leaf with a long stem. There are at least two varieties found in Sri. 'Gotu' refers to cup shape and 'kola' means leaves and it grows abundantly here in Sri Lanka and was known to be bestowed with numerous health benefits. Usually the leaves are eaten raw, chopped into smaller pieces and mixed with chopped onions, scraped coconut, salt solution and lime added to taste. Gotu kola had been in the Sri Lankan menu for thousands of years.

I am thrilled to hear about Sri Lankan herb gotu kola in Dr. Burg’ channel. Wow. We eat almost every day in Sri Lanka as a salad mixed with grated coconut. Also juice is used for many health benefits. I don’t know about Indonesia but Gotu kola meaning also in Singhalese which is main language of Sri Lanka. ‘Gotu’ means funnel shape. ‘Kola’ means Leaves in Singhalese. Singhala is spoken only in Sri Lanka. This is good for eyes too. It is in our staple diet.

@@lynnharrison5483 All Sri Lankans eat Gotu kola always. Even small children. But of course I have not eaten everyday without a break for years. In fact I have not eaten anything like that. Not even rice. How can we do that ? God has given many vegetables to eat! But gotu kola is so commonly eaten by Sri Lankans. It is a tasty salad for us. I am not living in SL still we import this to UAE and we Sri Lankans buy from Srilanka vegetable shop. We have never heard of bad effects on liver. When I was a child my mother used to give this juice before going to school because I used to get tonsillitis a lot. And anemia. But of course I didn’t drink it for years. Salad we eat many days a week. We never cook them. Except juice in rice and milk to make our ‘kolaknda’. Meaning leaves porriage.

I like your videos because they are very informative. Gotu Kola has been used in India for thousands of years particularly by sages. It enhances deep thinking needed to connect with God. Ayurvedic texts have extensively described its properties many thousands years ago. I wonder why there is no reference to it in your video. This is the first time I am hearing Indonesia and Gotu Kola connection. It is possible that many herbs were introduced to other parts of thw world during Buddhist period.
