Good JOB! Two thing: being a Registered Respiratory Therapist I sure understand the use and benefits of Oxygen. Second being 68 years old, after diving on Nitrox I do Feel Great (like an 18 years old LOL).

Definitely a must have cert to have .I dive nitrox as much as possible even if I have to pay 5 dollars in Egypt.Always diving in the UK with nitrox at the Gildy

Nitrox was one of my favorite certs. It always sounded so mysterious and turned out to be amazing! We did it with a deep dive so got the practical experience along with the math. Speaking of feeling great, once, I got a call from my instructor telling me the dive master had a nitrox tank that he was giving me for my air tank (someone on the dive was not certified for nitrox). Let me say, 36% on a 20’ max depth night dive makes for a helluva buzz to keep you up all night. 🤣🤣🤣. I agree Mark - it’s wonderful. Cheers.

Doing a live aboard in Thailand, upgrading my advanced open water to include nitrox was the best. Study for it was easy easy to do on the boat or beforehand. The use of a gauge straight forward, the adjustment for higher O2 good. What it meant was longer dive times at 30m sort of depths and doing 4 dives a day. Best trip clocking up 32 dives pre and post Nitrox on the liveaboard the best. Well worth it.

Love Nitrox!! I dive with Nitrox wherever and whenever it is available - I feel less tired and it helps with seasickness. With Nitrox I don’t end up ascending with lots of air in my cylinder due to being out of bottom time. Love it! 🐳❤️🐬

Absolutely like nitrox. Not only on a liveaboard with lots of repetitive dives. But as a deco-mix. Most benefiting from being able to do deeper stops without further ongasing the slower tissues. And speeding up the deco at all.

I think the use of nitrox is solely dependent on the type of diving you do. If you do a lot of deep diving, sure. If you are a treasure hunter, scavenger, etc., most of your diving is going to be 30' to a max of 50'. Great to have the cert because you will need it on some dives but you won't need it regularly.

I have been told that nitros does make you feel better after a dive. I certainly feel tired after an air dive. I will sign up for it this winter. Which means I now need an oxygen analyzer. Oh well, it’s only 💰

Just got Nitrox cert in Dec. Then did a bunch of Diving in Mexico. One place in La Paz uses Nitrox, but not only did they not ask for certification-but I think nobody else even knew we were using Nitrox! One dive was only

I don’t understand the question. Are you suggesting your dives should have been deeper because you were diving nitrox?

@@leehouston4395 I guess I didn't word that correctly. I was trying to point out that neither dives were deep enough to approach oxygen toxicity levels. But it still seems pretty "sketchy" that some people didn't even know what they are breathing?

@@windman657 Your nitrox cert course should have taught you the importance of verifying the mix yourself before a dive. Even if you're not asked for your certification, it's still on you to verify the gas mixture.

#AskMark So, a "stupid" idea to me as I'm watching this video. Since pure O2 is safe on the surface and it is the first thing to do if someone is bent, wouldn't it be a "good" precaution to, as soon as you are back on the boat, take a few breaths of pure O2? (skipping over cost and not doing the dumb thing of depleting the O2 on hand for someone showing symptoms - as these are things that could be planned around.) Would it help gas of Nitrogen? Or if not pure O2, why not on the boat kill the rest of your Nitrox tank down to, say 200 PSi?

Why nitrox needs special training ?

Because of the added risk that comes with higher percentages of oxygen. On standard air, you don't really have a depth limit (apart from your recreational limit of 30 meters). When you starting bumping up the oxygen, the gas you breath may become toxic at a certain depth, so you have to be trained on how to calculate your MOD (max operating depth) and how to analyze your gas.

I was in an accident, rod right tibia-replaced right hip- t10 11 12 fussion c7 fracture and short term memory loss, a doctor already shot me down but do you think a Nitrox argument might work or too much damage?

As an American I have no concept of meters. It would be helpful if you spoke in terms of meters and feet. I just learned that 60 m is about 200 ft

The the world uses the international system of measurement (Système International d'unités), in this case - the metre. If he was converting for strange units like feet, hands, cubits, or furlongs, he would be there all day. As an American, you will just have to get used to converting from the old and obscure system your country uses to what the majority of people use. I hope this doesn't come across as rude, just giving you a likely explanation as to why he does not. This is a reality you will have to accept, or forever be asking for - as the majority will rarely change for the minority. Trust me, as a Brit, I have long lost the battle and given up on English spelling vs American English spelling with some international customers!
