Psychedelics, such as psilocybin and MDMA, have shown promise in therapeutic settings for treating mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction. Research suggests that these substances can facilitate profound and positive shifts in mood and mindset, leading to therapeutic breakthroughs.

I would like to hear people’s take on what to do if they already took the shrooms and are working through trauma alone yet feel overwhelmed by the emotions. I’m determined to heal myself (mainly alone) but I feel raw and exposed and this is so unfamiliar.

Aha Alexander and Ann Shulgin are a prime example of how using psychedelics or having an interest in them doesn’t mean that you live in la la land at all. Some people just can’t . The conditioning of their brains through years of washing with the same rinse and repeat rinse and repeat rinse and repeat . Like I don’t think you can really use the argument that psychedelics are even remotely or comparatively more dangerous than... mostly everything. More people die using psychiatric drugs/medication or substances of other categories. But yeah Sasha and Ann. Amazing. High science. Articulate, intelligent and amazing people. Literally wrote the book on psychedelics... two in fact. TIHKAL + PIHKAL They won’t let me finish the books Dr Becky 🥺 England is so sh**** you have to get me out of here!

I understand your admiration for Alexander and Ann Shulgin and their contributions to the field of psychedelics. They are indeed well-known figures who have made significant contributions to psychedelic research. It's important to acknowledge that individuals can have diverse experiences with psychedelics, and responsible use, research, and open dialogue about these substances can contribute to a better understanding.

Why don’t you pray why don’t you start going to Jesus you shouldn’t be teaching the youth that using drugs is what gets some more in tune with their spirit in their surroundings!! ❤✝️🙏

I think this is a dangerous thing to spout on the internet. It's a literal role of the dice and can have loong lasting consequences. You are messing with receptors. And people react differently. Alcohol is the one drug with which we have the most experience. So if anything getting a little drunk sometime can be a good thing imo for an altered state. It doesn't last in the system the same way. But psychedelics isn't so safe imo. Different reactions from different people. Like with psych drugs I guess.

Your concerns are valid, and it's crucial to approach discussions about substances, including psychedelics, with a nuanced understanding. Psychedelics, like any substances, can have varying effects on different individuals. Factors such as personal history, mental health, and the setting in which the substances are consumed can significantly impact the experience.

@@dr.beckyspelman not only that, dna matters as well. For me talk of psychedelics became a gateway to normalizing psych meds "based on psychedelics" as they are considered safer than the latter. Which is not true, in fact the other way around.

Wow, it’s all so personal because I believe booze is the worst substance to mess with. The absolute worst. It’s an elixir we all should be much more wary of. Because it’s legal, folks think it’s safe. To each their own but I’m 3 years booze free and my life begun when I quit drinking.

@@arlecelarae654 That's great! I'm not for alcoholism or saying it is healthy, but fact remains it is safer and easier to stop (and with less ramifications than psych drugs). There's an annoying double standard where psych drugs are purported as safe whereas alcohol isn't (there's no shortage of information into why it isn't). In my mind the reasons for this are twofold. Alcohol is "free", there's no conglomerate of alcohol companies holding secret meetings in order to market their drug to vulnerable individuals. Secondly, admitting they're poisonous would be admission of their effectiveness being only their drug effect (of creating a sort of numbing and high) and that they have nothing in terms of hard evidence to offer in their practice - they would no longer be considered doctors but mere drug peddlers.
