Such a beautiful story. Bob was right, you wouldn't believe it. Absolutely in tears while writing this; rest in peace Bert. Such a powerful story from such a kind and warm person. Thank you for making your mark in so many things to do with life. It wasn't simply football but you attitude towards people that undoubtably tried standing in your way only to be won over by you amazing character. Gandhi once said people will laugh at you, get angry with you, fight you...and then you win. May you be blessed in the next life. I only hope I lead a humble life in the same way you did. after watching his story - as a German Man United supporter - I really need to say he was a great person and a great goalkeeper. he has truly done very much for the relationship between German and British people - and that's something only football can do - bringing people together with absolutely contrary backgrounds. rest in peace!

Excellent documentary. Bert stands out as a symbol of brotherhood in difficult times. It does not matter where you were born. It matters what you do.
