If you get stuck in Grand Rapids Michigan for a while there was a motel made into a restaurant and on each floor they had a different cusine and I think they had 5-7 floors , my brother picked me up and we went there it was some awesome food.

Glad you guys are taking the time to enjoy life while still young. I look back on all the years I drove OTR and I doubt that I could name any particular place that I was able to really go around and see the local sights. If I wasn't waiting to get loaded or unloaded I was sleeping 😴. Talking about the heat just be glad that you aren't in Georgia. The heat along with the humidity is unbearable 😫. I was gonna say you might wanna try that out. You get to a place that's got a few trucks there it can't hurt to talk to the guy and say "hey man, any chance if I toss you 20 bucks to buy your lunch if you can get me out of here quicker" Most shipping and receiving people aren't on a strict schedule. They'll load and unload at their leisure. When you look at saving 2+ hours of drive time a 20 seems like a toll booth. Just think your gonna save a portion of that from just not idling while waiting. You scratch their back and you know they'll scratch yours lol

At least your truck seems to be trouble free now. That's good, but I'm kinda missing the rants. LOL

Grand Rapids Michigan had a nice Mobil truckstop where I stayed when I hauled pork to, to get hotdogs made into and the truckstop had a great diner and stuff in the coolers and off the shelves if you didn't have the time to eat at the diner.. I was there every week on a Friday morning to unload Pork butts for hotdogs and I ended up hauling apples out of Grand Rapids Michigan to Oklahoma and deliver Monday morning.

When you guys stopped at the McClures on US 31 you're right they are reconstructing the road they are turning it to a freeway from south bend to indy. The state is doing away with all the stop lights in between and building bridges. Suppose to be done at some point in 2024. Supposedly they will bump the speed limit up to 65 once it's all complete
