I like to feel like the cynic in me wins every darn day forever.... And then I did Character meals.... BY. MYSELF. :) Garden Grill I found myself actually showing Pluto pictures of my dogs. This is how I knew I was lost forever. Tusker House character meal was fantastic as well. Loved them both and I will probably plan more character meals the next time I go and I don't care that I am there by myself as a full grown adult. ;-)

I totally agree! Tusker House and Crystal Palace were our favorites when we were there for Christmas. They're really fun!! Tusker house breakfast/brunch is great, and The Crystal Palace had a great variety of classic fare for early dinner. AJ isn't lying when she said that the characters at these 2 places spend A LOT more time with each table. Even my 13yr old had a great time!

Lunch or dinner at Akershus is rough. There are princesses but food wise, you're better off at IKEA (especially paying out of pocket). The Tratorria al Forno meal actually tastes super yummy & has great characters & you aren't as rushed or squished in as they're trying to flip tables, as is the case at Akershsus.

my first trip to Chef Mickey's was an almost 9pm (closing) ADR. It did take awhile for the characters to get to us, but once they did we had them at the table for quite a bit of time AND while leaving all 5 characters were walking and messing with us. I cannot say that is how it is every time, but it was quite fun for us

The Donald at Tusker House was incredible with our autistic twins. The boys loved seeing the characters and were fascinated with them... from a distance (up close? They freaked the boys out!). Donald would wave and crack them up with antics particularly to them from a safe distance. To this day, he was the only character to fully (and so quickly) "read" exactly what these special boys needed... Without even a word. They LOVED him.

I returned a few days ago and the only family style/buffet meals we did were Crystal Palace, Ohana (both for dinner) and Hoop Dee Doo. I think just in terms of food, Ohana was probably my favourite, but the entertainment at Hoop Dee Doo is so good I think it takes the top spot overall for me. I wasn't a huge fan of the food at Crystal Palace. It wasn't bad, just not really my thing. My friend who I visited with was a HUGE fan of this place. We also discovered here that we're not character dining kind of people!

We recently ate at Garden Grill in July for breakfast. Having an autistic child with sensory issues makes dining tricky at times. We can only do the breakfast menu there. We had such a great time!!!! The character interaction was fantastic, plus it brought back memories of my childhood before the restaurant changed to Garden Grill. Also, we love Chef Mickey’s - it’s a rare place where I can get my son to try new foods, which is a feat itself. We go for dinner every trip. We also always go to Crystal Palace breakfast every trip, because it’s another place I can feed the whole family (as a table service meal). We all adore the Pooh’s Puffed Toast. Mmmm... Thanks for all of the amazing videos and content. The whole family loves to watch together, which is awesome. ❤️☺️

We went to Garden Grill in March. It was delicious. It only looked ok on the plate, but it was really good upon tasting. I would say that it may not be for picky eaters who don't like their food to touch as it all comes in a skillet to share. Our waiter was hilarious and the meal took about 55 minutes, which was exactly one rotation of the restaurant. We love O'hana for dinner ( book it at fireworks time as you can see it and hear it in the restaurant). The Luau is really good also. Also, our family has preferred Crystal Palace over Tusker House in the past. It is so magical seeing that castle in an empty park in the morning. Thanks DFB for all of your work! You helped make our last trip magical with your suggestions! We just love watching Disney YT videos at our house!

We did Ohana and Garden Grill on our trip. Ohana was a must do, because I love Lilo and Stitch (yes, those character meets were as much for me as the kids!), and I was pleasantly surprised at how much it had improved since I last went some 15 years ago. Food was great, we got some decent time with the characters, and Stitch loved my handmade Lilo and Stitch hoodie. Garden Grill was at the suggestion of my parents (we planned our trip to coincide with theirs) and we all did dinner together. Chip and Dale kept messing with my husband and brother, Mickey kept coming back until my youngest was comfortable enough to hug him, and the food was AMAZING. Easily the best food we had at the park.

Boma is not just for adventurous eaters! I went for breakfast and they have plenty of standard fare for picky eaters, too. My favorite dining experience at WDW so far! One tip you mentioned in a different video pertaining to Tusker House: If you time your visit close to the end of breakfast, you can enjoy both the breakfast options (which tend to be mostly traditional breakfast buffet foods) AND also sample the items from the lunch selection, which has more unique and adventurous choices. Best of both worlds!

I used to work at Trail's End that is a really good buffet and it is the cheapest buffet on property always a carved meat for dinner and sometimes you even get a buffalo dish be it carved buffalo roast, buffalo sausage, and buffalo short ribs and in my opinion the best turkey gravy you can get anywhere not just at Disney World. My favorite buffet on property has to be Garden Grill I've been there many times with my family and wife, who sadly are no longer here so lots of great memories there, hands down some of the best food and very relaxing.

AJ could you and the team do a video that does table service/family style restaurants that caters for guests with disabilities?
@MightyBiffer
@MightyBiffer 5 жыл бұрын
This can be difficult to accurately do unless you have a disability or are regularly traveling with someone you is disabled. I go to WDW most every year and travel with people that require wheelchairs to get around. We have tried several restaurants that Disney claims are accessible and able bodied reviewers agreed - but when we showed up our experience proved otherwise. We have found that even those restaurants that are accessible (barley) they are not handicap friendly. Cast members are more than pleasant but the layouts of the locations do not accommodate chairs at the table or passage through the restaurant.

Disney’s restaurants have a huge challenge in that they serve thousands of people every day. It always amazes me that the only food on the buffets that is just warm not hot are the fried potatoes and they don’t stay hot long even at home , just top them with hot cheese and they are delish.

gail handshub I don't know what you are talking about. I have yet to be in a table service restaurant in Disney that is mobility friendly. Sure they can "accommodate" a wheel chair but to get to any but that outside tables requires asking people to move. And most of the table are so close that fitting a chair between them is difficult - It can be done but it is far from friendly. And no, I am not talking about EVCs or scooters but an actual wheel chair.

Spirit of Aloha was a good meal for us because we did it the first night we arrived (no parks that day), so we went straight there from our resort and we had teenagers with us who enjoyed the show and could patiently wait for a couple of hours. I also remember the old Luau show from 20 plus years ago and the food at the Aloha show was a vast improvement, particularly the pulled pork (Kalua pork?). My then-fifteen year old son had probably about five helpings of it! Agree completely on Garden Grill- it's usually a must-do on our EPCOT day and I've yet to have an even mediocre experience there. Food and character interactions there are top-notch.

Hi AJ, we LOVE your work and it feels like you are part of our extended family. But on this one... Garden Grill was by far the worst dining experience for us last year when we did our week at WDW. Felt very unwelcome and the server was rude to us and our son. The service was terrible, the food was bland and average. In our experience our best all you can eat was Tusker House, great range, amazing service and excellent access to characters, a perfect way to end our day at Animal Kingdom. We also really enjoyed Chef Mickey’s. We also rated Crystal Palace Breakfast at Magic Kingdom as a way to start our day.

For ANY Character meal, you're going to get a TON of Character time if they recognize you from the Utilidoors. When I went with family while I was still working at the Magic Kingdom to Chef Mickey's, the characters came to the table, them excitedly made gestures that they recognized me from the Magic Kingdom Tunnels. Soon, all the characters were crowding the table, doing group photos and making sure my family got everything they wanted.

We ate at 1900 Park Fair for breakfast a few years back. It was so fun and the food was actually pretty good. The most memorable part was the Mad Hatter. My husband was gone from the table getting his food and the Mad Hatter came over, sits in his chair and saw my husbands ears and he’s all “who’s Chris?” I laugh “he’s my husband.” “ well where is he? Doesn’t he know I’m here?” “He’s getting his food.” Then he yells “CHRIS!” Then restaurant falls silent “CHRISSS!” My husband comes over like wtf and the Mad Hatter was like “ there you are!” It was hilarious.

I've only been to Crystal Palace, and it was years ago (2002), but the Pooh characters were a must for me. We went for lunch on a Saturday in March. It wasn't terribly crowded and the characters were out for a long time, almost the whole time we were there, and they all came by our table multiple times! Back then the food was great, we had no idea what to expect but were really impressed. I remember having some really good salads and steak medallions with roasted mushrooms. It was just my mom and me and it was one of our very favorite Disney experiences.

I love 1900 for breakfast! I find they have several good options that you don't find at the other breakfast buffets. And I love that strawberry soup! But I hear ya about Chef Mickey's. We do it every time because my kid loves it but it's too loud and chaotic for me and the food is just okay, for me. I find it far more chaotic than 1900 Park Fare, but then, I found Tusker House far too busy as well. Totally love Garden Grill though!

I'm actually doing this for my trip in December. Last trip I focused on character hunting. This trip I have ADRs for Raglan Road, Tiffins, Skipper's Canteen, 1900 Park Fare, Garden Grill, and Storybook Dining at Artist Point. I also have a reservation for Oga's Cantina and sampling food from Festival of the Holidays. Still a bit of character meets involved but definitely more about the food this time.

Oreo bon-bons are back at Cape May! Not quite as good as they used to be, but still good! Akershus is also good for seafood lovers, and the princesses are great too. At Garden Grill I once had the characters come by FIVE times when it wasn't very busy. Too much of a good thing....

My family and I love Chef Mickey's! It's a must do everytime we go to Disney. We did not care much for Ohana though. My boys (7 &5) are picky eaters so there wasnt much there that they were willing to eat.

i’ve never had a bad experience at chef mickeys - might be because we often go very late at night so the characters tend to keep coming back to our table, although i haven’t been in about 5 years

We did 1900 Park Faire last month and we LOVED dinner! We had a 4:30 reservation and it was mostly empty. The food was good and Anastasia was our best character interaction of our entire 2 week stay! If you get there for the Princess Promenade you can go straight up to the restaurant afterwards and they let us in early.

I'm so happy you included the Spirit of Aloha as worst. After going to the show every Disney trip for years we had an awful time a few years back where mid show it started down pouring the rushed us food and rushed us out and I ended up with food poisoning from it! We haven't been back to Spirit of Aloha since. However, we can't have a Disney trip without going to Ohana at least once!

I don't know if I would do Ohanas again. I had to wait an hour past my reservation time. Problem I think is families waiting to see every character so they weren't leaving the restaurant and they didn't cater to parties of 2.

Thanks so much for this list, it’s really helpful and has given me some ideas for the next trip. I do just want to give some love to Chef Mickey’s though. We were there a few weeks ago and there were seven of us which included two teenagers and a special-needs young adult. Not only were the characters so sweet and kind with my special-needs nephew (who apparently totally is in love with Minnie Mouse), but they took the time to fool around with my teenage sons and help them to enjoy the experience and get me what could be some of my last pictures with grown boys and Disney World characters so I am forever grateful to them.

I love how you do these best and worst videos. You give more of what we need to know, rather than your opinion. Of course your opinion is there because of which list you put it in, but it make sure to say that it may work or not work for ones family. Most others would mostly give there opinion. I love this channel!! You guys are the best there is!!❤️

Agree for sure on Ohana. That's my son's favorite and we go there every trip for his day. My daughter always picks Chef Mickey's for her special breakfast. Agree that it's a bit chaotic and not as relaxed as Ohana. We loved 1900 Park Fare the few times we did it. The catfish was excellent as was the prime rib and several other dishes. I guess it depends on what you're looking for in food. I thought it was one of the best meals we had in Disney on that particular trip. Tusker House was a big thumbs down. Worst experience we've ever had at Disney with food. The menu options were not good. The food was not good and the seating was horrible. The lighting in there stinks for pictures so it was very hard to get photographs with the kids and the characters. That is one we will not have on our to do list ever again. I mean ever. Zero stars for that place. Back in January so we'll see what we find this trip!

Going to Ohana for dinner was one of the worst Disney decisions I have ever made. the food was bland, dry, overcooked and reminded me of freezer appetizers/meals I would find at Trader Joes. We hardly ate at all.

@@kimmccarthy7747 there are 2 places to eat in the building, the one on the main floor (The Garden Grill) and one downstairs. (on the same level as Soarin' I don't know the name of that one) garden grill rotates very slowly so you probably wouldn't notice if you walked by it!

We were just in Disney last week. Did 1900 Park Fare on our last night. The food was not bad, but the sisters were not there and it was so loud that we couldn’t even hear what Prince Charming was saying to us. Definitely felt frenzied as well and not enough room. Servers kept bumping into Cinderella! However, the character interaction was fun, a few menu items were surprisingly good and we made it back to the Magic Kingdom in time for the fireworks

Tusker house was great for character interaction and the food was lovely too. My friend was at the buffet so Goofy sat down opposite me at the table haha. Then daisy danced with Goofy and Donald was NOT happy. It was so much fun and because it was quite quiet and not very busy we got to see all the characters lots and lots!
