I truly love how "not snob" your KZfaq channel is. I lot of us would love to have a great luxury watch collection, but can't afford it (even though we like to watch the videos and dream about it). You dont mind talking about Casio, Orient, Seiko, etc. Kudos to you. Keep the good work.

This guy even gave us the courtesy of including the "lug to lug" measurement. Something even retailers and watch sellers don't bother to do most times. This measurement is just as crucial as diameter in my opinion.
@GBO76
@GBO76 3 жыл бұрын
They don't bother anymore because people would realized 90% of the production don't match the wrist size of most mens. When I see so called "watch enthousiasts", wearing watches where lugs are not even touching their tiny wrists...it's like loving nice suits, and buying them no matter what size they are. It ruins it all.
@ElectricSwordfish
@ElectricSwordfish 2 жыл бұрын
@@GBO76 yeah there's this concept called the "70% rule" that states the watch should be no larger than 70% of your wrist.

Teddy, thanks for thinking of us bigger wristed people, and including 40-42mm sized offerings too. I also appreciate you still covering the entry level automatics for those that are likely just getting into watches, or just don't have the budgets some of us wish we had (or can get buy off on from our significant others hah!). I would be curious to see a future video covering trends you're seeing as far as styles/sizes/colors of watches after you've been selling all these watches a bit longer. Even a blog post would be interesting, if that fits better.

I have a Seiko Presage 'Negroni" (absolutely beautiful dial), an Orient 'Helios' with blue dial, and a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto. The Seiko is such a beautiful watch I only wear it on special occasions as I'm afraid of scratching it (I'm kind of hard on watches). The Orient was my daily watch for a while. Very comfortable, beautiful dial, and kept very good time. Then I got my Hamilton and since then, it's hardly left my wrist outside of the shower. Just a very attractive an d comfortable daily wearer. It doesn't have the striking good looks of the Seiko, which has drawn attention when people see the play of light across the dial. The Hamilton also falls at a perfect size on my small wrist: not too small, not too big. I was able to find it in the low $400s for the Automatic, which is easy to do with minimal shopping online.

Nice list. I have the first one on the list : Save the Ocean Turtle. Such a great watch and you’re right - amazing dial. But rather than waves, apparently (according to the Seiko blurb) the lines on the dial are meant to resemble the ventral pleats of a blue whale. Which I think is rather cool. Super interesting dial for such a relatively affordable watch!

I was hoping to get your opinion on Jack Mason watches. I just found them recently but from I can tell, they have great quality watches only downside is obviously no in-house movements because of how new the company is. I was wondering about your thoughts on some of those watches. The Canton Day-date looks good I thought and they have other sub $500 automatic sapphire watches. I keep seeing the same brands in every video, which is fine but it would be interesting to see a video about good upcoming watch brands. Anyway, great video as always 👍

Earlier this year, I ended up buying a Mido Baroncelli Heritage off Jomashop for $600. Great value, elebore grade ETA 2892-A2, 39mm diameter with 43mm at the lugs, only 7mm thick, 20mm lug width, and beautiful eggshell textured dial. Spent an addiitonal $100 for a shell cordovan strap and I've been using it as my daily. Ran 7-10s/d depending on how much it was charged and I started storing dial down for the last couple weeks - runs 5-6s/d now. The Mido Chronometer-grade Baroncelli are actually below $500 on Joma now.

Great collection. Just waited waited waited and wanted to post as another alternative the Tissot Heritage. And there it is :) actually you get nowadays mint pieces in used condition for a good price. The Seiko Dress KX is a great one. I have the black version but with the brushed/matte bezel. I think it looks even more elegant since the outer bezel is again shiny polished and this playful design continues on the case as well. Looks more valuable than the pure polished options. Laco Augsburg definitely a great one, look out for the Blaue Stunde 39mm with that beautiful blue dial. Orient Kamasu, exactly the best value for money automatic diver you can get plus it is much more elegant than other Japanese divers in this category.
