Hey Dan, the south coast sounds more by level and better for me. But, I’m planning a trip over August/September this year, so it will have to be Arugam bay. I’ll be doing a 2month trip, so I don’t really want to spend the whole time at the baby point. Are there other bays that are close by to arugam that work for beginners/intermediates?

I'm a beginner surfer and going ro sri lanka in April/May. Is welligama a good spot to surf then or just the east coast? (because the east didn't look that beginner friendly😅)

When exactly were you there last as of late I haven't heard the most promising stories in the larger towns small beach towns are fine any thoughts on this there has been travel advisories in 2023👍🤙

Hey Michael!! To be honest, I felt safe and everything was fine when I was there. I know last year, they had a few issues where it wasn't so safe. But I wouldn't worry about going now :))

Hey man, would you say Sri Lanka is a nice place to visit? Like, between the tuk tuks, honking of the horns, and general level of development, is it nice? Are these beach towns busy hustle bustle, honk honk honk, bus trying to run you over, or are there beach spots that are somewhat more chilled to be at? Thanks

I've been there last year February and it has definitely relaxed places and BEAUTIFUL nature. You will find many places where you can relax and chill apart the hustle and bustle which is on the roads

Hey mate!! Yeah, there is a lot of that too be honest. The roads are pretty crazy and there is a lot of hassle, as you said, tuk-tuks and being hassled all the time to go in cafes, take taxis etc... That said, the beaches are still beautiful, people ARE friendly and the national parks are pretty sick!!
