I'm always on the search for the perfect camera bag. This time, I've been looking for the perfect EDC camera bag. In this video I compare the Peter McKinnon Luma bag by Nomatic with the Brevite Jumper and I can't believe which bag I actually chose to use!

I beleive you described them both in the best way possible, the Luma is most definately a Camera Bag while the Brevite is an EDC Camera Bag for the more casual shooter, I own the Brevite Jumper and I also got another “new Kid on the block” bag, the Shimoda Urban Explore in 20L. surprisingly the 18 liter Jumper is roomier than the 20 liter Shimoda and while I agree 100% with you on the dividers (they absolutely suck becasue of all the reasons that you described) I happen to like the front pocket of the Brevite a lot!! In fact, I wish more camera bag designers would use it as an example of how to design the front of a camera bag insted of just offering a deep front pocket with no organization. Thank you for your excelent and unbias review.

Oh I love the pockets and everything, I just wish the front pocket folded down all the way if that makes sense! Thanks for the comment and the kind words! I do want to try out the Shimoda at some point!

I've had the jumper for years and have been thinking about getting the luma. I love the way I have my Brevite set up, and it's very similar to how you have it. Great job explaining them both.

As someone who’s obsessed with green, esp Sage green, I dig the overall vibe of the set and this video. Well done!

I've been waiting for someone to compare these two backpacks for awhile now! Thank you for this comparison! I actually have that Brevite backpack for years now and I ALWAYS end up choosing it for EDC AND travel. When Shimoda came out with the Urban Explore series I got excited and purchased the 20L but after receiving it I felt buyer's remorse. It was too boxy looking, rough, and big on me. And like you said the practicality of the Brevite backpack works so much better for me too. Just wish the dividers were better and wish it came with the mesh in the straps and back since I've noticed because of the material of the Brevite, after wearing it for a while I start to sweat. Maybe with the mesh material in those areas will help with that

Dude thanks for your comment! I looked into the Shimoda but just wasn’t sure it would fit my needs. The dividers on the brevite are for sure my biggest pain point!

This is the exact review I was looking for! I have the Brevite in red and I kinda regret my color choice because it’s a bit flashy. Now I’m considering the Luma because my disability issues make it hard for me to adjust those puffy Velcro dividers. That and for some odd reason I kinda feel like Brevite doesn’t fit me all that well

Well hey the luma is a great choice! Like I said I still love it and will be using it for things other than EDC!

Love the video! Do you carry your keys and wallet in your backpack or just your pants pockets? If you do use the bag, do you prefer easy access or security??

Typically I keep them in my pocket. If I do put them in my bag its usually more for ease of access than security.

I wanted to like the Brevite, stealthy looks and some nice colors but there are two things I couldn’t get past. First was the Velcro pads, they are not sturdy enough for me to trust that my gear stayed in place. But the shoulder straps are seriously in need of improvement. My shoulders are in rough shape and these are about the worst I’ve tried since my early 80’s jansport. The luma beats the Brevite in every metric except price.

do any of the zippers on the Brevity have a way of locking them together to prevent theft?
@filming_fatherhood
@filming_fatherhood Ай бұрын
You could probably loop a lock through the zippers but Idk if that would truly keep someone out. I think their big deterrent to theft is that it doesn't look like a camera bag

The brevite dividers are SOOO BAD. We need bottom velcro on the dividers!
