Mixing up fun with competition, we did a blind camera comparison with the best camera phones of 2022 - and all the results came with the votes casted by you - our great community! In my opinion these test should have more samples than one photo. Sometimes camera won't catch that what we are looking for, so we get worse quality photo, and on the other hand seccond phone will catch this moment with we looking. Thats why sometimes "better camera phone" lose vs "worse camera phone". You should take at least 5 photos to compare and then sum points and pick winner with will go to another bracket. This will make these blind tests more realistic :)

A simple way to improve the test. Only in the final you just take 5 extra photos from slightly different angles. If all 3 phones consistently process the 5 extra photos the same way, then the test winner won bigtime.

Good comparison. But the one problem is you only took photos in a single situation - Sunny day. It only tests the dynamic range. Provide more situations including videos - Yes I know, social media compresses the videos but that is where most people would post this.

Love the P6P camera, but even after getting a warrantied unit, it still overheats and still have poor cell reception compared to my S22U. Have no choice so far but to use the S22U

How about night/low light photos? Usually daylight photos won’t be much of a problem since you can edit it and it won’t look so bad.. Night/lowlight can be tricky because the photos can easily be grainy or too much noise..

Nice I picked my own phone as the winner 😀 Although it was difficult for me to choose the final winner because it looked so close to the P50 Pro, but color and dynamic range were just a tad better on the 6 Pro in my opinion. Thanks for the comparison guys, I really enjoyed it. Hopefully there will be a low light comparison too.

After the first round, I chose Pixel, Magic4 and X80Pro. They have different approaches, but they are good nevertheless. And since this is a point-and-shoot test, I think the other phones can perform better even to the top 3. It now depends on who takes the shot

It was fun to watch and participate during the blind test. I believe all the results I picked ended up winning. Surprised to see s22u get knocked out so early. But not surprised to see pixel coming in first. If I didn’t have this iPhone 13pro I’d go with a pixel phone for sure.

Most people would go for HDR-y photos or brighter photos with a bit saturated colors. Xperia nor the Xiaomi 12s Ultra (Leica Authentic mode) won't stand a chance in this kind of blind test comparison

Awesome comparison, Google is on another level with processing, while Huawei keeps it's magic going on, i even downloaded Gcam for a midranger and the quality of photos are flagship level, totally other phone while comparing to stock camera

I have the Xiaomi mi 11 ultra and the Google pixel 6 pro and can say they are both brilliant phones which take amazing photos .. Literally be difficult to separate them ..

Google's image processing has always been ahead of the curve. Imagine pairing the mi 12s ultra 1" sensor with google processing. That'd be the best. Pixel 8 should definitely use that sensor.

What the hell are you even talking about. Only the last photo from the Pixel looks semi decent. The color science and white balance in that phone are beyond retarded. Everything is pale blue and cold most of the time and the processing makes the image flat all the time trying to overcompensate for the shadows and highlight resulting in completely washed out image.

It is possible 12S Ultra will be eliminated in the 1st round, nowadays daylight pictures are so similar and it is more about the color tune, it is just hard for the top hardwares to show the difference.

Yes since the photos are posted on social media where it's heavily compressed and you can kiss goodbye the details, textures and chroma. If these reviewers put in more effort to post full res samples or cropped parts of the photo, we'd have a much better view at how the cameras perform. Instead, it all comes down to which photo has better dynamic range and looks "lively" on social media.

In that last pictures Vivo was much better than other two. And this come from Huawei user. Exposition on face, which is most important in portrait shot, is fantastic on Vivo. Other two are at least stop and a half underexposed in face area.

The problem with these tests I see is that the phones perform heavy processing on the image to adjust for the best viewing experience. Maybe if shot in "pro mode" without any processing and providing just a raw DNG image would have been a better choice? This way, the processing can disturb the difference between highlights and shadows, while obscuring the reality of the dynamic range that's being captured by the camera itself. The tests need more control as well. You would put a fixed ISO value and shutter speed/aperture to ensure consistency. In auto mode, these are adjusted based on the sensor and we know that each phone has a different technology, including the lenses.

The video is actually purely based on entertainment, and doesn't mean that one phone is actually better than the other in regards to taking photos. The problem with RAW is that the vast majority of people just use point-and-click. That's why we use the same method when comparing photos, because manual editing is just going to differ from the skill of a person to person.

Excellent hard work done by versus team... Hats off you guys.... After taking consideration of your sound knowledge i bought vivo x80 pro... As i my 1st choice was pixel 6 pro.. But unfortunately pixel 6 pro is not available in my country so i have no choice other than vivo x80 pro....watching video on my vivo x80 pro.... Guys from india can surely buy this smartphone without doubt at the price it's available... Compare to European market x80 pro much cheaper in india...

My fav phone is the HUAWEI p50 pro, it heated my expectations too, yet you have to consider the huawei p50 pro cause its Lil an old phone beating latest phones, but still I'm proud of the results.

You can't compare this smartphones with just one shot. For example, the galaxy s22 Ultra, the zoom is way better than the zoom of the iPhone, pixel, oneplus, oppo, vivo etc.

Your comparison is good but still not right. It like a beginner photographer that always preferred Automode while professional photographer always preferred manual mode. Huawei P50 Pro has another option called "Aperture Mode" which is the same as professional camera such as cannon or sony alpha that allowed the user to change the Aperture from f16 down to f0.95. Furthermore, it also has three different Leica Lens which allowed you to shoot a beautiful photos based on the object and landscape. Other phone brands didn't have these options yet (not sure about Xiomi 12S) including Samsung and iPhone. So all of these phone will produce similar photos if you consider on Automode. Therefore, based on my experience as a professional photographer and also a Samsung and iPhone user I can say that there is no any phone in this comparison can come close to Huawei P50 Pro in term of professional photographer.
