What's the difference between 2nd gen Rav 4 & 3rd gen rav 4? They both have the same engine but different gear box... as much as you'd advice for a 3rd gen Personally i have seen/witnessed a 2nd gen rav 4 manual with over 400,000km ODO and the plastics hold up very well for a 2004-2005 rav 4. 1AZ & 2AZ are widely used engines and some of the vehicles you just mentioned including wish, harrier, noah/voxy, premio/axio the list is endless... I think that the 2nd gen rav 4 is underrated.

Erick, is the Subaru GH2 not in this bracket? It has a sporty look, fair fuel economy with it's 1500cc engine, not hard to maintain and it's performance is quite good. I'd wanna hear your opinion on this.

Erick. With the Serena it's true they have a gear box problem. I have one I had a problem with it for some time but there is also a solution. There is the aftermarket gear cooling system . We I fixed it on mine I can drive to nairobi eldoret non stop with out any power cut issues on hills . The car came back to life.

On the mini MPVs you missed out on Mazda Premacy.Quite a hardy car.On the 4x4s,please talk about Pajeros.Its very easy to come across a clean Mk2 pajero of even a Mk3 diezel with around 900.Especialy those that came with a 4m40 engine.Also, how about Mazda Bongos on the commercial side of things?
