I like playing Nami when filled support. Sure she's not as simple as the ones you listed, but the thing about Nami is that she's an enchanter that plays a lot like a mage, meaning my mid-lane mechanics transfer well while still being very much a supportive enchanter and not a kill stealing carry support.

I wouldn't mind a video about choosing a main lane. There are so many interesting champions all over the place and pros and cons to each position, so I find it hard to decide. If I had to say it's support and jungle for me (except jungle tends to be filled with extra flame if I don't do well enough).

Masters support player who loves playmakers (Pyke, Bard, Rakan) and I totally agree with choosing simple champions when autofilled. My off-role is jungle since both roles are both focused a lot on roaming and map control, so there's a decent knowledge transfer. I've found Sejuani and Hecarim to be really good options, since they give a lot of agency about when to engage while allowing you to focus on decisionmaking over mechanics (similar to Amumu). Tip for autofilled support players: if it isn't terrible with your team comp, play whatever type of character you're most comfortable with. If you main adc, pick Senna. If you main vanguards, pick Nautilus or Leona. If you main assassins, pick Bard or Pyke (you can't usually one-shot them, but assassins and catchers ultimately have a similar job: identify and punish vulnerable targets). It won't be the same, but you'll at least be able to use some of your pre-existing knowledge! Support is one of the most diverse roles in the game, so take advantage of it! Counterpicks won't work if you don't know how to play the role OR the champion, so just try to stick with what's most familiar.

I think it should just be good practice to play all roles in some capacity. Just to have basic knowledge of how that role performs. Not just because you might be auto-filled but because it can give you valuable knowledge of what everyone else will be doing. Maybe not run straight into a ranked match, but just sneak into a Normal at some point and mess around in the jungle or play support. It can only help you get better at the game.

How about a video on champs that fit in multiple lanes/roles? For example Pantheon works mid, support, top, jungle. Amumu can be played jungle or support. So on - helpful for a newbie to learn just one character's micro and be able to play multiple roles with a familiar champion

As a Leona main, I agree with you. While I do feel that Leona has a low skill floor, she does have 1 rule when it comes to her engages. Flash or Die. No inbetween. If you go in, you either win amd survive or you burn a flash to escape or you die so the carry can live. Only those rules.

Really like the ones you picked out and for those same reasons.. I main support, so whenever I get my secondary, which is mid, I play malazhar.. But it's really nice to know which jgl and top lane to pick when I get autofillee xD

i would recommend lulu over janna actually. Janna can easily lose teamfights because of her ultimate. I dont think that her ultimate is easy enough to use properly. As a shield bot, shes not better than lulu. Lulus mechanics are way easier than janna imo. Only thing hard about lulu is her w target selection (enemy or ally). I think thats way easier than cancelling enemy dashes.

Just pick Pantheon. That’s it.

Awesome Video :) One thing that wasnt mentioned is that knockups and knockbacks are better than stuns, charms and so on. They simply dont get reduced duration if enemies buy tenacity. That's also why I'd highly suggest picking Nautilus over Leona for example.

As an ADC player, my secondary role is support (I even play it as primary sometimes). Makes auto filling a lot easier since I already understand matchups and I know what a good support should do.

A solution that should be taken into consideration is a players role diversity. What I mean is the autofill system should pick for a filled role the player that has played that role most, outside autofilling (which the system DOES already keep track of). This would mean the most experienced player gets that role. This is after autofill protection and ignoring players not overlapping roles. So if you have 5 players with two taking jng and none taking support the one most experince out of those two would be filled into that position. I hate autofill, I know what the intention is but from everything I have seen the majority of the player base hates it. The issue is the declaration of roles prior to queueing in means that some roles are not equally selected. This is not exclusive to MOBAs or any multi-player online game. I remember many MMO times where I was not able to go in a dungeon because DPS was overwhelmingly filled and tanks or healers not. This is just how it is. In Rifts (back in the release years) as rogue you were never allowed in because the rogue class did everything and thus people were sick of the class. As said in this video, most people would rather wait for what they want then have an under performer. I would agree mostly to that, but compromises need to be made. Right now it is NOT a middle ground. It doesn't fix the problem but put a bandaid on it. The real issue is skill level in roles and value. Roles that do not shine and allow massive skill expression are not picked because not flashy, or roles that are far more complex to play are also ignored. What should be done is getting better treatment to the value of each roles position on the map. The other thing is the ability to pick any champion in any roll, which leads to many issues. It must be preserved, but in many ways this is something from the past where there was no meta. There was no roles, just champs vs. Champs. Hell, there wasn't even a dedicated jng position back then. I remember when people started playing dedicated jng and they were mocked. Now it is a thing and duo top is mocked. The game has changed, and much of it is better. However, there is still hold overs of systems that are very much dated and now causing problems when combined with modern LoL. Things still need to be updated and it will take time.

as a tank player my autofill picks are usually: top Malphite, jgl Taric/Skarner, mid Galio, adc dodge, supp Taric (main)

Its also a question about what champions have you played before. If you are top or mid laner you might get more done with pantheon support if you played said champion before. Karma top isn’t the most meta pick but if you have experience with her in either the support role or mid lane it might be a better pick than darius or malphite. Most midlaners know what a lux or xerath can do so playing them as support can be the right call. I think its always smart to pick a champ that is viable in multiple roles and at least know what they do. Swain, lux, karma, morgana, malphite, pantheon, karthus. Even though it might not be the most meta in general. It might be the mfta. Most familiar tactic available.

I’d say Seraphine is one of the best picks if autofilled in bot. Her wave clear is really good, she’s simple to play and she ends up doing a lot of damage. Even if you can’t do damage on her, her ultimate is insanely powerful. You can lane ridiculously safely with her and her utility is crazy

Another thing is to look for a possible champ that plays similiarly to your main role, as there is already so many champions designed to be an odd role for a lane and even if not particularly designed for it, there are plenty of options regardless

I was a Rengar one trick and on my way to my first diamond promos I got autofilled support all three promo games, and as much as Rengar 1v9 got me through the ranks it was Blitz support that got me into Diamond, so I wholeheartedly support your recommendation champs that are still useful when they're 0/15 are the best choice for autofill in roles you got no clue how to play effectively

sometimes, but not always, when filled jungle (since I play it secondary) I'll go xin zhao. he's pretty easy to play even if you've never played him before. he can get around the jungle easily with w and e, and while he doesn't have the same lockdown as amumu, his w and e can get him on top of targets pretty quickly. his ult also has a couple of uses as a sort of combo between mord ult and gwen w, and q knockup adds to his gank potential. plus he can build into either bruiser items or assassin items, letting you snowball early or frontline late. he's maybe not the most wonderful pick but he takes very little effort to play and gets the job done.

I think MF is a pretty good autofill adc. She doesn't have great mobility or CC but her passive helps her last hit and her ultimate is so strong it will win you team fighrs and games if you have basic game sense. The best thing about her ult isnt just the damage but the insane range, which lets you play a bit safer next to your support in the backline while still being useful a problem a lot of unexperienced carries run into.

I recommend Janna Over Soraka because it's a lot easier to pressure or peel with her than it is Soraka. You can make picks with your q and have great roaming potency bc of her w move speed, but you can also peel for your carry with her q, e, and ultimate. And as long as she can peel long enough with everything in her kit to keep someone alive it doesn't matter if she dies in a teamfight. Soraka on the other hand is much harder because of how she needs to be alive the entire fight to help her team. If she gets caught out or focused she cant use her w or q which means she's useless. She needs to be able to poke reliably in poke matchupd with her q or else her lane loses. If you're in risk of getting focused on I recommend going celerity and nimbus cloak with heal and shurelya. This makes you really fast and allows you to kite in teamfights when needed. but in safer fights when you're not at risk of getting engaged on moonstone will always be better.

Yuumi would be wonderful for someone just playing spectator mode and taking notes on how the game works. But the downside to this safe and less hectic gameplay is that if you get too into the no movement gameplay, one might not be able to adapt when they need to walk for the first time

there is a really cool ash build where you go full cooldown reduction and spam W, you will provide a lot of utility by slowing the enemy team plus your R is up every 20 sec

The best autofill AD midlaner is Garen. Great wave clear, great dueling potential and great skirmishing. Even if you don't play very well in laning phase, you still become a frontline for your team.

great vid as always, i only disagree on jungle (being a master jungler main until like a month ago) imo, Amumu being amumulike weak early on is where more experienced junglers, specially on higher elos, will feast on them. Not only that, but one of his worst matchups is Lee Sin and Lee is everywhere in ranked. Also, Vi is giga hard to play well, a fill jungler will literally solo lose a game on bad engages if it decides to play Vi and don't know how. I would recommend something strong early game with strong ganks and less margin for error, like Xin Zhao and Rammus

Galio mid could be considered a good autofill mid pick (I main him currently). Just push and roam or invade with Jungler/Support. His supportive kit gets more value the higher elo you and current meta JG/Support champs synergizes with him quite well. Most of his bad matchups can be ignored with his Q waveclear+Minion Demat and D-Ring start. He does good cc burst dmg and can always opt for more high AP high magic pen dmg carry builds if he gets fed or has allies with setup for his R.

I find it best to take time to learn a variety of champs, or at least those that can flex roles. I main GP, Ornn, Jhin, and Pyke, but I can play Graves and Voli if auto-filled JG, or I can flex GP into the midlane if auto-filled mid. However, it also comes with the need to spend more time learning each role and champ, and some of them may not exactly be able to fit the niche necessary for that specific match, so take what I said with a pinch of salt and consult your local GM player of said role or champ.

Very interesting that you say „avoid Kayn“ at 8:11, he would be one of my most recommended picks since he is insanely strong and one of the easiest, just go offtank and spam your abilities for good stunns and tons of damage.

I would also recommend Rammus for a simpler Jungle pick. He's got a rather simple but effective kit and revolves heavily around ganking, mobility, and survivability. All things we want for being autofilled jungle. He was my first jungler and I did just fine with him, at least in comparison to how bad I was in general lol

As a begrudging ADC Main, Ashe is unrivaled in her simplicity and ease of access. She's my most played champion just because I have fun with my friend who likes to play Braum with her. Though overall her laning phase is very safe, in the mid-game depending on your build you can deal some pretty considerable damage while still keeping the enemy on their toes with your Ult and W being able to cripple their momentum in a fight, and in the late game one even vaguely well placed ult can sometimes change the entire outlook on the fight. She's a great pick for both learning ADC and also for people who are stuck in that role.

Today I was autofilled support and since the enemy ADC banned pyke I first timed Yuumi. My laning strategy was: attach to MF, spam Q into the enemy carry, exhaust/ignite when they're low. We won the game.

Funny enough I just played vs autofilled Malz mid right before watching this video. I was playing Talon. I solo killed him lv2 and then made his team ff by roaming everywhere while he was "playing safe". Something I shouldn't be able to do vs a good Malzahar.

Since you talked a little about silence on malzahar, could you talk more about it as a whole, it would be interesting to talk about.

i have to admit i havn´t played for long but i can also recomand tristana for mid or bot, she gets god tower damage early on and whith her bomb is difikult to tive also you can often just jump out of dangers

A good and easy mid, top, jungle, and support pick for auto fill is pantheon imo. Very straightforward, even if behind is a beefy point and click stun bot, and is an ad mid laner which you skipped. Honestly a very versatile champ, with a good matchup spread, and good for auto fill.

Suggestion for adc. Veigar and Seraphine. One adds damage and some utility, the other adds a lot of utility and the safest waveclear of the game.

I feel like for midlane for AD pantheon is a great pick, solid engage, and scales well with simple yet strong abilities, he CAN 1v9 but its not usually what he is supposed to do.

I'd say most people should just pick whatever champion they are most confortable with amongst those who are viable in given lane. For example, a toplane main who plays juggernauts autofilled to jungle would probably give his team the most if he picked something like Mordekaiser, since he won't be overwhelmed with any new mechanics and can focus purely on macro.

Pretty much agree though I would add a couple champs. - First is mundo. You really can’t go too wrong with mundo. He’s very safe like malphite, but he sacrifices engage for sustain. Only situation I’d avoid picking him in is against high DPS comps. - Second is Warwick. Just build sunfire jacksho and ult a priority target. Similar to malz, its just really hard to be bad at him. - Third and finally ( skipping mid and adc) is Senna. She’s got everything you could really want from something autofill. Yes you may be more damage to your team, but the real important thing here is laning phase and late game; both of which are really easy on senna. Just play back and auto attack and you’ll probably be fine.

I agree with your main picks. But heavily disagree with some of the mentions. I would say jungle is my main role, but even I tend to feel useless on Fiddlesticks. Always feels like a “boss when unlocked as playable” meme. Amumu on the other hand, is very good for auto fill. He has a super simple clear, Q is intuitive and can be used for engages or wall hops, and he has one of the best and most straightforward ults in the game

Blitz is a dangerous recommendation if you're above silver. While the hook can apply a lot of pressure if you hit it, you are worthless if you can't. Nautilus should be the primary recommendation. Regardless id recommend something that is reminiscent of your lane, e.g. lux/xerath/brand if you play a mid mage, engage supports for tanks, pyke for assassins, can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

Ever since the addition of roles when queuing, which at this point happened who knows how many years ago, (as someone who mains top and has ADC as secondary) I've never been autofilled to Mid ONCE. Not a single time.

I que up as jungle almost every game for about 1000 ranked games, ive been autofilled maybe 10 times, and time when i feel like trying another role i get filled back in the jungle. But having played so many games of getting abused as a jungler, i completely understand why

Also a very important thing you forgot about Malz is how he is insane against untanky solocarries. No matter how good the enemy is, it can be a challenger Talon Smurf which is 20/0 while you are 0/10, just press E R and he will go low or even die because you have completely insane damage.

I main support, so when I fill jungle, I usually just go Ivern because I feel comfortable playing an enchanter, and although it's not pretty, it's not too awful. When I fill mid (almost never) or ADC, I just play Ziggs or Seraphine and hope it works out somehow and that I stay 0/0 for the whole game. When I fill top, I start crying uncontrollably because I can't with toplane.

So, in Wild Rift, we have role preference and I queue as ADC > Support > Jungle > Top > mid. I usually gets like 60% chance to get ADC and like 20/20 chance for support or Jungle. The thing is, my support pool is quite big, but I do often went with my 40% winrate Thresh than my 65% winrate Sona. Thresh is super fun but like super hard to get right. Just pick Sona or Soraka or Nami for easy time. Tanks, go Naut or Alistar. For Jungle, I ended up as a Vi one trick and she’s been working wonders. I do however tend to pick Yi if the enemy has only 1-2 hard CC to punish them since if Yi just scale and I trust my skill enough to dodge CC via Alpha.

I actually like autofill lol, it forces me to learn other lanes and a few patches back I kept getting autofilled into mid lane making me learn new champions and I’m thankful for that

6:49 i would say ww is even easier than amumu beacuse you can miss the q, but ww has the healing and the w to see where are the low hp enemies, and you can go tank too, also thx to his good earlygame, you can figtback if you get invaded

One thing I will say about malzahar most people don't know. You HAVE to land Q. Not a maybe. It makes up WAY more damage in your kit than people understand. Not only does it do high damage itself, it resets your E duration so it's nessecary to maximize your damage. And while it's a big skillshot, it's not necessarily the easiest to land. I think Annie is easier personally. But good video.

If you want an AD Midlaner who isn't just a 1v9 champion Tristana is decent! She can play aggressive early but her range means she can also just farm and scale - I think she's good for autofill!

i don't recommand blitz mana cost is a thing and positionning in lane too its like annivia straight forward mechanics but high kwonledge of positionning and mana-gement

I would recommend farming junglers that are not to prone to gerninvaded early to autofill players All you have to do is just farm camps when they are up thus always getting value.

Of course the top main would say to not pick a ranged top ;) Top, Bot, Mid, and Support: Teemo/Ashe/Senna (utility + ranged damage: get some omnivamp/Senna Q going, stay out of the way, and pray) Jungle: Nautilus (riftmaker + burning + spirit visage = hurting while not helping + healing while not dying)

throw lulu in imo, point and click peel x2 and if you ever played against her as assassin or with one as a carry you (playing against her as a kayn and with her as a darius or twitch you remember your job to repeat the same hell or heaven) should know exactly what your role is on the team

I don't recommend AD midlaners either, simply bc there's a high chance your toplaner and jungler will pick AD, and if u have only an enchanter support to deal magic damage later on, the game for you and your whole team will be much harder if enemy team realize that, even without tanks.

Would have choose Nunu with Amumu too. Started jungle with him, realy fun, and he's stronger in early game ganks, so you're a better "support" jungle than amumu to feed ypour team.

I do think sona should be on this list. Only skill shot is her ult which is pretty powerful and the size and range is big enough that if you point it in the direction of the enemy team will likely stun at least 1 person. Self and partner sustain, ok damage, move speed to entire team and ok shielding without having to really think too hard on your champion. Yes passive can change a 2v2 into a win if it’s a w passive instead of a q or e passive but even without that you can still play her at 80% effectiveness and still have good results.

Primary support, secondary jungle. Have never been autofilled once and have been assigned jungle rather than support only once, too. It's so bizarre to think that other roles actually have to take autofill into consideration at all

I don't think Jhin is a good autofill adc. He has 2 hard to hit skillshots and his E needs a lot of planning to use to its fullest potential. I agree Ashe is good option but I think Tris much better if you have a good support. With Tris you just need to press WE and you get a kill every time as long as they don't have exhaust. And if someone engages on you, you can just away or ult them away. And she has very good wave clear as well as jungle clear so she farms super easy to get even stronger. With Ashe on the other hand you need to be very good at spacing to be able to trade in lane, and in midgame you need good kitting as well as very good threat assessment and positioning if the enemy team has engage/assassins. So even though Ashe has so much utility as ADC she still needs to be able to do dmg, and doing dmg on Ashe is hard a lot of time.

i think as support main when i get autofilled top i will pick shen and when i autofilled jungle i will pick ivern and mid and adc i dont have for now

personally, i would say to avoid playing fiddle cuz he plays the game very differently from other junglers, you need a bit more of an understanding with vision control and ult nuance, either for dmg or for cc, and he's easy to fall behind on without good jungle fundamentals.

if you play any champ with waveclear you can run them support just permashove wave xd

Laning with an autofilled supp makes me want to rip my hair out. I have never seen a good autofilled blitz in my life. They always seem to miss hooks until its to hook the enemy leona right into my face for an engage... As for most autofilled enchanters, they either sit behind you 24/7 or play a little too aggressively and end up getting poked out of lane or straight murked before you have a chance to do anything.

Hey, I haven't played league in ages and have 2 questions. 1) Is it possible to select more than 1 role when u queue up? 2) Does riot give u some kind of bonus if u select all roles/click auto-fill? I think other games give starting gold or wards if u do.

As someone mentioned, if you are autofilled choose a champion that follows a similar style to what you're used to playing in that auto-position. If you main assassins all your life, don't choose a tank jungler or support. If you main enchanters don't grab an all in assassin and think your skills will translate. And remember, when you're off-meta the enemy is as well, as in you aren't their normal match up. Take advantage of that and be as annoying as possible because if you tilt even one person on the enemy team they may choose to hate you more than your carry (burning ults and abilites that should be saved for higher threat targets). If your enemy types, "COME BACK AND FIGHT ME!!!" While your actual carry is still alive, you've won your lane and you need to pat yourself on the back.

Personally, I think Ornn is an extremely good top lane pick if you arent sure what ur doing toplane. Just play really passively in the laning phase and you should do just fine. You wont be able to bring out Ornn’s full potential but thats not really the point here. Ornn is just a super bulky guy thats hard to kill, has good CC, and decent damage. Being able to upgrade mythics means even if he isnt doing amazingly himself he is still a good asset for the team. He is also one of the only champions where a 0-0-0 laning phase is a good outcome. Just sit near tower, farm minions, and dont engage unless your jg is with you. You wont carry, but you will still provide a lot of late-game value to the team.
