I love how chess has been around so long that every move has a name. I wouldn't be surprised if there was one called the Napoleon's Left Buttcheek Gambit.

@alexandrutheodorbileca42668 ай бұрын
@@christopherheckman7957 You see, most people that play 1.d4 play it because they dislike 1.e4. You can give a lot of dutch defense players a rough time by going 2.e4. Its a very sharp line, but its 0.00 . Alteenatively, you can push for the tiny 0.6 advantage by going c4 / another engine move.

@@alexandrutheodorbileca4266 When you decide to play 1. d4 or 1.e4, you have to consider all of the opponent's replies. They're not going to play the opening that YOU want.

This line is not new, it was played by the German master Karl Mayet in 1839. Tassilio von der Lasa, little remembered today but one of the top players of his era, found the refutation 3...d5! Your students need to prep for this move in case they run into someone who knows what they're doing.

Stockfish and Leela are not impressed. 1.d4 f5 2.h3 Nf6 3.g4 they prefer d5 (slight advantage for black). In case of fxg4 4.hxg4 they still prefer d5 (white is better). After Nxg4 they say 5.e4 gives white bigger advantage. Even after 5.Qd3 g6 they (after some thinking) prefer 6.Qg3 over 6.Rxh7 Rxh7 7.Qxg6+ Rf7 8. Qxg4 d5 9.Qh5 Qd6 10.Nf3 Qf6.
