Since the video really should have been 10 seconds, here are the key takeaways: 1. Measure your room and get desk length that is roughly 50-75% of that number 2. Ensure desk is adequate deep. Two feet / 60cm is minimum and 32" / 80 cm is ideal 3. Invest in a good chair (Herman Miller if you can afford it), buying the best thing you can afford

I love IKEA! Its actually a huge day for me when I get to go and pick up something we need. Putting the flatpacks together is therapeutic for me and i find it very zen. It's kind of like big lego sets!

I highly recommend getting a monitor stand, helps for us taller folk and just makes the desk look cleaner.

Even if you can adjust your monitor to be higher, monitor stands are still a better solution as when you extend your monitor, it looks unstable and even a bit ugly.

Just an FYI, if the point of sound proofing ur room is to stop noises from going through walls so the sound is trapped in ur room, those panels won’t help. The only way to sound proof ur room is to install soundproof drywall using GREEN GLUE, (very important ). That is the only way.

u can make a hole in ur dest to hide mouse keyboard cables and then cover with mouse pad to look setup cleaner

hey, awesome vid! im worried that the 80 or 85cm depth on a worktop will over hang the alex drawers units which are only 58cm in depth, did u have any issues with that at all?

@@SuedoTTV bruhh.. Its funny u asked, im going out today to grab all the parts. It's taken me that long to decide/commit 😅 -all at IKEA. The worktop will either be the SÄLJAN or the EKBACKEN worktop (246cm x 90cm) 2 ALEX drawers (70cm x 58cm) 2 NÄRSPEL trestles (70cm x 30cm) 1 OLOV adjustable leg for the rear center (anti sag support) My work around for behind the Alex drawers will be the ikea NÄRSPEL (70cm x 30cm) installed horizontally. They are the same height as the ALEX drawers. Measurements all add up with these worktops. Alternatively u can use the OLOV legs instead behind the drawers is what I've read some have done. Can update you throughout the week as I put this headache all together lol

@@zanzatec Brother! The timing on that is crazy hahaha! I would seriously appreciate it if you did keep me updated. Unfortunately the nearest Ikea is in the state below me and 3.5 hours away. So if everything does work out, I'll make the long trek down there and buy everything. I just have yet to pull the trigger on it because of how far the drive is. So you did decide to go with the bigger desk and the Alex drawers, but you're putting legs behind the Alex drawers for the overhang? Thank you for all the details as well! Names, dimensions, etc, I'm looking everything up as I'm typing this.

My parents bought me a new desk yesterday. My dad broke my other desk when we were moving. I've been using a foldable picnic table for months now. I got an "eSports Gaming" desk. It has an optional headphone hook and cup holder that screw into the sides and built-in RGB LEDs with a Carbon Fibre top. It's pretty groovy.

Is there a way to also have your computer reflect what is displayed on your screen? I mean with RGB fans, ram, SSDs, CPU coolers / water blocks and lighting strips to work with it might make a really nice effect. It would make immersive gaming feel a lot better than just having some vapor wave theme 'breathing' next to the screen while the rest of the room is appropriately lighting with the game.

There's all sorts of modes on it, you can get it to change colours when something happens in the game or reflect the monitor etc

I got my desk from the same place... I got a solid oak 150cm x 62cm x 4cm... and got myself a nice dark oak stain as it's a cheaper alternative than buying a naturally dark wood top

That rats nest of cables under the desk is distracting from the desk itself. Cable management does take a bit of work but it is totally worth it. I recently built myself a custom hardwood desk (Acacia) and some cable runners and some cable holders and ties does a lot of wonders. Absolutely zero chance kicking a cable by accident under my desk as not even a single cable can be found under it. We got the exact same mousepad though! I did decide to add a pull out keyboard tray and said tray was custom made to be wide enough for that mousepad and is at just the right height for me. My desk is strong enough where it doesn't even buckle or bow even with over 300lbs being put on the desk. It certainly was not the cheapest desk as hardwood is expensive but since it is built like a tank it should last me a good long time.

Hello my dear PC Centric! One question, This American walnut worktop as you said is 2m x 80cm right? or the depth is 85cm? I am afraid with Alex drawers as base (depth 58cm) 80mm depth desk is the limit right? or you can go deeper to 85cm? or it hangout too much and risk to unbalance? Because I am custom making from Worktop Express the desk starting from 2Mx960mm and I don't know how much I should cut from the depth to fit properly with the depth of the Alexes. Thanks!

I do have a question on lighting but its more pc lighting than room lighting. So i want to use corsair ql fans in my build because they look great and im good at burning money i dont have, but i hate how corsair AIOs look. Is it possible to replace all the fans in a nzxt AIO with corsair QL fans and sync them or am i out of luck?

I actually find mesh office chairs best for long period sitting simply because they will never wear out on your back and are more breathable than any chairs out there.

Solid advice! Quick question though. How did you get the table top to fit on the Alex drawers? When looking at the dimensions and your recommendations, wouldn’t there be a lot of overhang? If the table top is 30”+ and the Alex drawers depth is only about 24”?

Loved your video, very articulate and great fluidity in speech. so nice to hear with no umms and errs, quite a skill even with great editing. Can you tell me how you connect you desk to the wall please ? Do you just rest it on the draws and just screw to the wall with L shaped brackets or is there more I should know. I think I will copy what you have here instead of buying a desk its much better. Many thanks. IB

Used dining tables make for good and cheap PC desks lol. Many of them are crafted with solid wood.

I have an Ikea Malm with pullout side myself, it has it's limitation but the price it's fantastic. Still using a Fractal R3 case, I don't think I will ever go for an RGB mad case, I agree with better lighting for the room itself.
