If you ever get the chance, please take a listen to the InEars Prophile 8S - reference type tuning but with switches to give a small boost to hi or low end. For me, they are the standard by which all others (ALL others) are judged.

@@engelhaft Just read a review of the mini. It still seems a farcry from the MEST though as I've read. Hoping other companies take a look at the MEST, reverse engineer it and make their take on it on a more budget friendly package :)

Would you say the MEST outright performs on another level with the Solaris 2020? While I do like the Solaris, it can be fatiguing at times for me. I do enjoy the balanced and warm aspect of it. It’s very musical.

LUNA and ODIN are both elevated late mid early treb. Those (aside from bass) are more alike than the MEST is to either. The treb and mids on MEST are better for my library

I just heard Odin & Mest yesterday, and the Mest is clearly superior , being more alive and energetic. But I find there is better than Mest. For me, the "vision ears Elysium" had more soundstage, making the Mest a bit edgy and hyper in comparison. The Elysium had the closes soundstage to an actual summit-fi headphones. The Mest is excellent beyond others but still doesn't do best soundstage , although deep and satisfying, but there is a hyper, non-relaxed attributes to it. Sorry for disagree with you as Mest being absolute best..

If they put intl tuning in JP shell on request..I'd request that. The mid bass is identical. I graphed again. Sub bass is more on Intl and late treb is more on JP ver

Don't you agree that there is a serious discrepancy that warrants further investigation? Surely this information is of supreme importance to anyone considering this set and that trumps and related direct references. That said, I will remove them if that is against your policy, and repost it below with the direct references removed. I think this is critical information that every serious person in this thread would like to know. I honestly thought you'd be all over this and would have been like, "damn, I've really got to look into this, thanks"... "Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. What I am suggesting is that it's possible that what you've done is graphed the JP-tuned drivers in two different shells - the JP shell & the Int'l shell, and have not graphed the Int'l drivers at all because you are not in possession of them. If you check the charting done by other reviewers online, they look nothing like yours. The tracking on theirs falls off a cliff at 6K, while your peaks remain the same all the way from 2K to ~11K. I actually did more analysis, and indeed can see that their mids track flatter than yours as well - your 2K, 6K, 8K & 11K peaks are almost identical (that's a HUGE range), while their 6K peaks dwarf everything else. Also, the reason you may be charting slightly elevated sub-bass in the Int'l shell, could be because it has one less port hole, therefore more bass may be getting retained. Another possibility is simply loose tuning quality control - as can be seen in one of the charts, there is a 1.5-2db gap in the sub-bass between the L & R channels alone. 2db is a lot - I can tell that difference in sub-bass easily. It's clear that the drivers they are charting are tuned very differently from the drivers you are charting. The only overt similarity is the late treble spike at 14K. The JP-tuned drivers were intended to bring out female vocals more - interestingly, this is the range where there is the biggest difference between the other reviewers samples and BOTH of your samples. It would be a shame for people to spend big bucks on customs, only to find out after the fact that they are tracking like the other reviewers samples. For this reason, I think I am going to play it safe and order the customs with the JP-tuned drivers installed as originally planned. I am going to run all this by Andrew as well, and ask him to speak with the UM engineers to get to the bottom of this. If they have somehow modified the tuning on the Int'l recently (the only other explanation), then we need to know about it before dumping $1700 on customs with two driver-tuning options."

They said that they tuned the jp ver in the way Japanese people would like, and as a japanese I really want the custom jp ver. I guess I will keep waiting for them to make the custom some day.
