I know this is a year old but since I own this set up, I thought I might comment. I agree the opening design could be better, and actually my bar has sagged, bent a little from the use I've given it. I could replace it with a slightly more robust bar in the future. Today. in 2024, many of the main doide laser manufacturers are now offering their new units with enclosures and their collective reasoning is safety. I can attest to not having used my glasses while framing a project and not closing the awkard front cover is probably a major factor. I agree too, the 3 inch exhaust design is problematic with the hose being too short and 3 inch instead of the more common 4 inch. With all said and done, this enclosure works. I was able to work around both of these flaws, even training myself to take the time and "Close the F'n Lid,!" One thing tho, its not tall enough for a camera mount, as precribed for this unit. It's about 13 inches off the bed that I have, where apparently I require 15.5 inches, plus 2", for a recommended usb camera to function. As an upgrade to an new, enclosed unit with all the bells is about $3500, I'm planning to keep this enclosure and work with this fantastic laser as it is. Definitely an easy fix and an important upgrade for any open frame laser.

you got that bad daddy boss laser already, what do you use the diode laser for?

Hi Justin, I wish you the best with your new channel. So far I have been dragging my diode lasers outside to do any kind of work with them. It is a pain but it is my only choice right now. I am looking into enclosures but I want to make sure they work before I buy one. I have a one bedroom apartment and do all my crafting in my room. I do have a window. As you know leather smells horrible under a laser. The problem is I could be working on my crafts as I am using my laser if I had it in my room instead of sitting outside keeping an eye on my laptop and equipment. Do you think there is any enclosure that will actually work well enough to keep my room from smelling and endangering my life from fumes or should I just keep bringing my lasers outside? Thank you, I am aware you can't be positive but since you have one of the enclosures I was thinking about getting I figured I would ask. :)

Comgrow do a better enclosure, sturdy tubular skeleton not the thin wire frame leaving a floppy skin. The skin on my Comgrow is tight, better to look at and imo more efficient and less costly.
