So if you want some massive quads, you’ve probably heard me advocate for doing leg extensions paired with sissy squats, but to really get the most out of these 2 exercises, here are a few tips to keep in mind. Real quick, myprotein’s pumpkin spice is back in stock, it is one of my favorite flavors, and I highly recommend trying out. Any way, number 1, when you are doing the leg extensions, make sure to pause at the top of each rep for 1-2 seconds, if you can’t, lower the weight and start again. This time focus more on controlling the way up with your quads, as opposed to brute forcing as fast as possible. This will really target and fatigue the shortened or contracted position, since you’ll place significantly more tension in that top range. Then when you can longer bring the weight all the way up, you could opt for some lengthened partials, until the weight literally just won’t budge, or you can stop your set there and go straight on to sissy squats. If you’re doing more than 2 rounds of these 2 exercises, I’d recommend skipping the lengthened partials, otherwise it’s probably worth it to include them. Either way, once you finish the leg extensions, without a second of rest, immediately walk over to your designated sissy spot and begin your sissy squats. All you need is one hand wrapped around the side of a machine for a little support, then get as deep as possible while keeping your hips fully extended and your torso aligned with your legs. Now since this exercise focuses more on the lengthened position, this time you want to pause at the bottom, when your quads are stretched. This will then fatigue and target the lengthened position, which is why pairing it with the leg extension is so brutal. Because the leg extension will fatigue the shortened position, which leaves the lengthened position to have just a little bit more juice until you completely empty all the gas in the tank witht the sissy squats, leaving your quads screaming in physical pain. But a few things to keep in mind, do not rest at the top, give yourself 1 second maximum, and then immediately go down for another rep. Then on the way up, only use your supporting hand for balance, and try your best not to pull yourself up with that arm. Again, keep those hips fully extended the entire time, and think of pointing your little peanut up to the sky, leading the way back up to the top. And then, when your quads finally decide to give out, you could opt for some more lengthened partials, or you can just skip to the crying and end your set there. Again this just depends on how many rounds you’re doing. Personally I wouldn’t do more than 2, especially if you’re doing another quad exercise on the same day like a squat or leg press. But that is how to grow your quads. If you made it to the end, consider using code “MAXE” on myprotein. It really does help me out and you also get some delicious tasting supplements for 40% off, it’s a win win for everyone.

Firstly congratulations for 1M, you have come so far since I started watching you. But you totally deserve it. For the legs, I do squats, then leg extension and finally sissy squat. But if I combine sissy and extensions in one exercise, I am left with 2 exercises for the quads, that is 4 series for the quads in total, I think that's not enough. What should I add?

I do leg day once a week, 2 exercises per muscles (ham & quad). I start with calf raises and then Squat followed up by Romanian deadlift for hamstring! The last 2 exercise are basically extension and curls machine. BUT considering i do once a week isn't it too low? I see people do 6-8 exercise per session. Any kind of advice would be much appreciated 👍
@JC-hk5zy
@JC-hk5zy 7 ай бұрын
6-8 exercises Is overkill imo. Especially for legs. If you want to prioritize legs you could add another full body day or leg day and take out some upper body work to hit legs twice a week but I simply built some good legs and then switched to legs once a week to maintain since I’m not a big fan of having massive legs
@iamchino5524

To be honest, personally, what has worked best for me to increase leg size and strength is doing low volume high intensity, I am seeing much better results doing 3-4 exercises per session than the 6-8 that I did before, 1 hour or less, instead of 2 hours, better results and more pain. My current routine is pretty simple: Back Squat 3x3-5 RDL 3x5-8 Calf Raises 2x8-12 Bulgarian Split Squat 2x5-8 Since I haven't been to the gym for a few months, to train at home I do: Elevated Pistol Squat 3x5-8 One Leg Elevated Bridge 3x5-8 One Leg Calf Raises 2x8-12 Sissy Squat 2x8-12

could be muscle imbalances, maybe weak glutes and hip flexors compared to quads and hammies, or a lack of mobility in the ankles and hips, or really tight muscles that pull on the patella, or the worst would be damaged tendons/acute tendonitis. quickly check by pressing your patella or front of knee kinda hard but still gently. there should be no pain. if there is pain, rest from leg exercises that use knee flexion and extension then go to a physical therapist. what you don't want is to leave it alone, do nothing, and have chronic tendonitis, because that can cause damage that takes exponentially longer to heal from. make sure to ask the physical therapist if you have any mobility issues in your legs if you end up going. Most likely you don't have tendon damage, so check your single leg squat balance and strength. If you struggle to do a pistol squat or pistol squats hurt your knees or one leg is a lot stronger than the other, go to "Knees over toes guy" and "Squat university" on YT and check out their videos. You can kinda diagnose yourself, so try some exercises from their channels based on your diagnosis for a bit and if that doesnt work dont hesitate to go to a physio. Youll be suprised how quickly pain while lifting heavy can soon turn into injury or pain during household activities.

yes agree, was about to write that, i do leg extentions too but started to kinda skip the top part and doing 3/4 partials and going as deep in the strech as possible and it feels much better too. I think that the same thing counts for enhanced lifters too tho, focusing on the strech is the way to go for everyone i guess.
