Fun fact: Peter pan is actually a psychopath who lures kids into Neverland and kills them so they can never escape. Captain hook is actually one of those boys who escaped, that's why Peter was so obsessed with him and fed his hand to a crocodile.

4:50, Coma. Was a great movie in another language but dose have English dubs. I think its French or Russian originally. Was a really good movie me an my bf enjoyed it. Got a few others to watch it an they liked it to.

Coma was sooooo drawn out! It's like it was struggling to figure where to go next. Which is a shame because it had some really great action and special effects + a interesting story.

They rely on special effects because no one know how to tell a story anymore. No one is allowed to tell a story and be original without selling some kind of propaganda BS. It’s all remakes or some BS no one can follow and they rely on special effects and gimmicks to try and keep people mesmerized to the point you don’t even think about a plot or story line....

Holy shit, Coma looks fucking cool!!!! It reminds me of one of my fave book series, Mirror Dreams (books 1) and Mirror Wakes (book 2). It's about another reality, created and populated by dreamers from our world who create little kingdoms from similar dreams (like flying for example), that you can travel between, but there are also dreams created by our nightmares.... and the native residents who live there all the time are all people that were dreamed up by people in our reality, who then gain consciousness of their own. Sounds convoluted when I write it out, but mostly its about this cool as fuck magician from the other reality, who can warp reality from the void around him, and all his crazy adventures with "dreamers"...

That does sound pretty good. Who is the author and when was it published? Also sounds oddly like a story I wrote a hell of a long time ago, at least without the magician(s) coming from some other reality.

I definitely dig the whole fairy-tale-esque-urban fantasy-new weird axis of fantasy, though it also attracts a lot of people whose pretentiousness exceeds their talent. One precursor to these subgenres I recommend to almost everybody is Peter Straub's Shadowland. If you consider novels as a question of structure, this is quietly the most brilliant work of genre fiction I've ever read. EVERY scene, and practically every line, matters forward and backward in the novel, to the extent that the narrator standing in for the author tells you, in talking about the main character as a boy, exactly what he's doing in the novel...yet still manages to pull off a surprising ending that's impossible to fully predict before you read it and inevitable in retrospect. :)

The problem of modern Fantasy: To much CG, while the worldbuilding is often poorly made. That concludes in a movie without a soul....my once beloved genre is now nothing more than a cash grab......like anything else..... :(

I always watch movies I've read in book form with a grain of salt and try to let them stand on their own. Artemis Fowl was so badly done, It couldn't stand on it's own, but it was so far from the book, that the books didn't help either. I love the book series, but it was as bad as Aragon or Avatar, the Last Airbender, as far as live action adaptation goes.
