Picked up the blue, shipped within 48 hours to my doorstep. I am constantly looking at the dial and crystal, gets a smile out of me multiple times of the day. Oh and stepping out of the light... Sheesh! That lume! I've got a blue white stripe parachute strap on the way and a gray NATO too. Instant classic, I love it.

Adding the lume to the Arabic numbers sold me on the Islander vs the Hamilton. The screw down crown is also a big plus. Thank you for your attention to detail. Keep up the great work.

It would be interesting to align the counterbalance on the second hand with your logo to create an eclipse type effect..with a slightly large counterbalance so it fits flush inside your logo circle.

@Long Island Watch/Marc A few suggestions: In future previews, show off the AR coating in outdoor light if you can. The 'M' in meters does not need to be capitalized, or the entire word should be capitalized so the letters are the same height as the 100. Same for the word automatic, all caps or all lower case. The circular counterbalance on the second hand: it sure would be cool if you could cut out a triangle from it, or paint on a triangle, so it becomes the Islander watch logo. That said, I was looking for a black dial field watch. Now I am not. My Islander field watch arrived yesterday. I can see it becoming my daily driver. It has strap monster potential too. The timegrapher tells me +5 s/d and 0.0 ms beat error, a nice healthy watch. Overall, a very good watch, and one that I am pleased to have. The lumed numbers are a great detail.

I just bought and received this watch, in black. It's a great watch, and it truly is a great value! All these features for just under $200, before tax. I especially love the lumed numerals, and the sapphire crystals (both on the dial, and the exhibition caseback!). Perhaps my only gripe, and it's a really small one, is the lack of drilled lugs. But I'm sure you have your reasons, and while having drilled lugs would be nice, I can do just fine without them. Again, an excellent watch! I hope to get all 4 of these colorways eventually. I finally pulled the trigger and just bought the black dial version (ISL-41). I've been wanting to pick up a field watch for a while now and almost picked up a Seiko SNK809 but kept researching. I really wanted the Hamilton but it just seemed overpriced for what you're actually getting. I know the heritage but that tax is heavy. I'm glad that I kept looking because the value of this watch is kind of insane. I can't wait to finally receive this amazing time piece. Keep up the great work.

About 2 weeks ago, I insisted my friend get an ISL Spork instead for going for actual Seiko, Lol. He loves it, the time keeping is also excellent. extra screw driver included was a fantastic touch. I was comparing it to my SPB103 and the only thing Seiko have over ISL is the case finishing and the 6r35, besides that ISL for the win.

Love it! My only complain is the font on Automatic and 100m

I have been wearing the black version since the original release as a work watch. I pair it with a di modell carbonio strap (carbon fiber look). I get compliments on it all the time.

Lovely lumed arabics. Definitely wears larger than 39 due to slim bezel and long lugs. Looks perfect size for a field watch if you have 6 3/4 or above wrist size.

Nice looking watch, very good value for money. Just wish that L2L was shorter, from what I see on the video there was space to trim 1.5 mm from each side (at least what i could see and I am no watch designer by all means).

That is a great upgrade to the field watches. Unfortunately, I already have an original #ISL-43. I also echo the comment from Pratik Panchmatia. I would love to see another series using the Miyota 9000 movements. My #ISL-38 has rapidly become one of my favorites and sees a lot of wrist time.

Another feature that will definitely make this Islander much better are drilled lugs. It's a strap monster, having drilled lugs will make it much easier to swap the straps. Just my humble feedback though : )

I have, and really like, the white dial ISL-40. Looking at the dial in sunlight, I thought blued hands (instead of the black framing) would really pop. Also, as a next generation suggestion, engrave the model number on the case-back (e.g. "ISL-40" for the white dial version and so forth on the other models). Regardless, these field watches are sturdily built watches and am a happy owner of one.

So happy you did this as it makes the watch so much more enjoyable at night. I’m a lume snob, it just makes me happy! Any possibility of a Quartz? I know that may not be as popular, with collectors, but a lot of us like a field watch as a grab and go watch for weekends and trips that require your mind to be occupied by other gear that must be made ready for the outing.

You should come out with a line of bronze Islanders. They would sell out like the other bronze stock you carry. I just saying!

Ron Swanson's watch! Citizen AV0031-59A Eco-Drive Calibre 2100. The capacitor will eventually wear out, which is what I think you're experiencing. It's as easy as changing a battery, you just need to source the right one.

the Citizen has a capacitor issue. you can have it replaced and it will hold a charge again

Great watch! If there's one thing I'd change, it's probably just the "Automatic" font & maybe all caps. The taller capitalized A makes the text look slightly unbalanced

For some reason I like the brand logo on these field watches than on the divers

Had a similar issue with my eco drive. Those capacitors get too low and they don't charge properly. Leave it in the window for a week and it'll be fine again.

Am I the only person who thinks that the non-lumed arabics on the white look better? Some of you may have good vision, but given that I'm blind AF, it doesn't help me anyway. For those that commented on size: be aware that it sits high and wears large for 39mm. I'd describe the size as closer to my SKX than the Island-Just, but not as big as the Seiko FlightMaster. Stupid question for Marc: While the bands are insanely high quality (Mine's got some fraying/poofing from the stitching after less than a week of wear, but I suspect that's just a one-off and can be fixed with minimal clipping) have you considered offering these sans-band or with a simple $2 NATO strap? You allude that you plan on band-swapping in the video and with the very nice QR spring bars, but those things have to be costing you money. Personally, I would have gone white w/ battleship grey if I had an option, even if it was DIY for $10 or so more.

Just ordered my first Islander yesterday. Just couldn't pass up the value and the reviews and particular model/color. (PS my ecodrives do the same thing after sitting for a year, they get charged then drop fast, then upon next fill up, they stay charged. )

Sir any chance in developing a dress or field watch with a rotating bezel perhaps akin to friction kind like on Vostoks. I find that a rotating bezel is so useful.

are you going to offer them in grown up sizes or just the kid version? say 45 or 48mm? guys with bigger than 8 inch wrists can't really wear sub 40mm watches.
