I feel like Zamboanga is the epitome of the Filipino collective culture. More than Manila and other places in the archipelago. It is a beautiful dance of our hispanic-asian collective identity coupled with islamic influence. It is a mestizo (mixed) culture which is what Filipino culture fundamentally is.

I've said it before and I will say it again, Erwan should have a travel+cooking show on mainstream TV! Loved this feature! Can't wait to travel to Zamboanga, Sulu, Basilan and Tawi Tawi in a few weeks. Truly, Mindanao is beautiful! I want to immerse in their colorful culture, language, food and traditions! The mellow colouring with those vivid pops, soft focus plus the acoustic music in a lot of the scenes in this video makes it seem as though I’m watching personal reminiscent memories... really beautiful. Thank you for this video. My Lola was born in Zamboanga in 1924 and just passed away Dec 2018. I don't know that she's ever been back since leaving for Pampanga as a teenager. Just to see her birthplace is a special blessing and explains so much about her.
