My favorite themes 👉 ed.codes/tools
If you're choosing between Shopify Themes on the official theme store, you might be wasting your time... because they are in fact the same theme.
I'm talking about Dawn, Sense, Crave, Taste, Ride, Craft, Studio, Origin, Publisher, Refresh, Spotlight, and Colorblock.
These themes have:
- Exactly the same code
- Exactly the same settings that you can customize
- Exactly the same sections and blocks available.
My recommendation? Choose the one that's closest to your branding and the aesthetic you are going for. But don't overthink it.
And if you're thinking of switching from Dawn to another free theme - there is no point.
After all, it takes less than an hour to make any of these Shopify themes look exactly like any of the other free themes.

For the trust badges, I would like to know how to keep the icons centered under the add to cart button when adjusting the desktop media width between small, medium and large. Can you please advise on how to make the change?

Love your videos!! I just have a question... I use the dawn theme and when I add a multicolumn or photo with text, the text box has kind of a shadow to it and I can't figure out how to remove it. Anyone has an idea?

Hei, I saw you video about Personalized Gift Card image by e-mail notification. Now.. my concern is about variables. I want to add 5 different design, for San Valentine, and add a variable that use different image design to send by e-mail but also that show up in the balance gift card page, according to the product that was bought by the sender. I'm not sure if I made myself clear... When someone by a gift card product as a gift, with a specific design, the recipient must receive by e-mail, that specific design, and see it also when they check the balance. My question so, is.. where should I look for this? Any idea? I will struggle with the AI to implement the variables, but I need to know where to find the coding file related to the gift card product selection.

Firstly, I want to thank you for such helpful content with in-depth explanations about Shopify. I'm so tired of seeing these shopify dropshipping bros make shopify "tutorials" that are actually glorified product reviews so they can plug their affiliate link. What a breath of fresh air! You just made a new subscriber out of me. Secondly, you mentioned we can install an official premium theme, tweak the design and try it out first. I was wondering if you don't have money to purchase an official premium theme right away, but you do want to design it for when you are ready, but use a free theme in the meantime, if I were to uninstall the premium theme to put in the free theme while I save money, would the changes I made to the premium theme be saved until I decide to reinstall it and pay for it?

Thanks! Yeah I know what you mean about those dropshipping channels haha, I feel the same way. You don't need to "uninstall" the premium theme to use the free theme. The free theme will be your live published theme, and you can have up to 20 unpublished themes on your store. Nothing will happen to them. There is no need to uninstall/reinstall. You can work on an unpublished theme and then purchase it when you are ready.

I'm not sure if there is much to say/teach in such a video. It's not something you can follow along to code yourself. So currently, the only practical way is to use a sections app like Design Packs, or a hotspot app.

Love the video! 😄 The hook, pacing, b-roll, explanations ALL perfect. I think Shopify created all these Dawn duplicate because they knew users won't be able to use Dawn at its full potential.

Hey Amine, thanks for the feedback! Yes I agree there is a need for these duplicates but but maybe it could be more clear that this was a "style" rather than a different theme. I have seen stores who wasted time switching from one free theme to another, when they could have just tweaked the settings. Also, I wish Shopify would release some free themes that are totally different. This was the case a few years ago, before Shopify 2.0, with themes like Brooklyn, Debut, Simple, Boundless and others.

your content has helped me so much! could you help me with something I'm currently working on? I'd be willing to pay for some custom code! I want to let my customers name their price for a product. They can choose whatever they want. 40% of it will go to charity. Is there an app or an easy way to add some code to the product page so that the customer will see how much of their named amount will go to charity? Basically when they type into the price field "10", I need an additional field that shows up as "amount going to charity: 4"
