Although this bag did not make it on my favorite bags 1.0 list, this is one of the bags that I use at least once or twice a week.

HOW I REVIEW:
As you might know from my „How I make a buying decision“ video: Rather than just looking at the pros, I like to evaluate the cons or flaws of an item and then evaluate if I can live with them. That is why in my video reviews I concentrate more on the cons of an item rather than going over all the features. Therefore everything shown is just a fraction of all the points that go into the verdict and score of an item.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A QUICKLOOK AND A REVIEW:
A Quicklook usually covers pre-production units or items that I only used for a short period of time. While Reviews cover final items that I have reviewed intensively.
AFFILIATE LINKS:
No matter if I like or dislike a product, I want to make it easy for you to check out the product yourself. Therefore I include a link of the productpage. If marked with a star *, that link is an affiliate link, meaning if you buy the product via the link you DO NOT pay more, but you will support the channel.

BROOOOOO love your vlog! Please tell me which bag is best for heavyweight lifters? My boyfriend needs a bag that can cary lots of weight but is like the AER Gym Duffle (lots of compartments)
@Youknowthebo
@Youknowthebo 6 жыл бұрын
+Larissa G. Hey Larissa. Thank you very much. Have you taken a look at the TAD Meridian case? There is a review on it on my channel. Not sure how much weight your boyfriend wants to carry, but since it is a milspec bag I recon that it can handle quite a lot. Further you can customize it with lots of compartments.

You are the only reviewer to have put a gi in one my shortlisted duffels, I'm glad its the Aer brand as they don't seem to be too bad with prices, especially compared to Ryu. I actually won a competition from Carryology and have the Boltpack, but I cannot believe that even with 30L, a good thick canvas gi and belt struggles to fit in with a dopp kit. This has just sold it for me (I believe I have to get the v2 though.
@Youknowthebo

Fitting a gi into any bag is actually pretty difficult. The thick material makes it so difficult to squeeze into bags.

@@Youknowthebo just got it today. Really happy with it, thanks for helping me with my decision. Good news, shoes, 3 x Crossfit clothes, skipping rope, wrist and knee pads, 1 x canvas gi, 2 x rubber training knives, dopp kit, med kit, powerbank all fit in with room to spare for a laptop. Amazing bag. Folding the gi into a Swiss roll and securing it with your obi really helps make room in the bag for other things.

Love it Bo. It's very similar to the AER Travel Pack. I think overall the Travel Pack is better since you can carry it on the side or wear it like a normal backpack. It also has the shoe compartment and wouldn't be of hindrance when riding a bike. Looking for a smaller bag for those more casual trips and I'm glad I saw this review before purchasing. Definitely worth considering before such an expensive purchase.
@Youknowthebo
@Youknowthebo 7 жыл бұрын
Well said, Daren. Totally agree with you. If you need to decide on just one bag, then I would definitely rather go with the AER Travel Pack. But if you have the freedom to get both or actually look for a bag just for gym clothing, then I would say go with the Gym Duffel because the mesh is great. I know a couple of people who forget to take their gym clothing out of the bag right after they come home. The mesh will remedy the smell if you leave your sweaty clothing in there over night ;-)

Good point. I took the AER Travel pack with me from Australia (Home) to Scandinavia for a month and it worked a charm in all sorts of conditions. Rain, Snow, Wind, Being thrown around. It kept my electronics and clothes dry with space on the sides for a tripod and water bottle. I'm surprised how much I actually was able to fit in there! As always, thanks for the videos!

I personally don't think that a duffle should be carried like a messenger bag while riding a bike, that's why it slips out. I feel that it has to stay low at lombar height, rather than high on the back. love your videos btw

Unfortunately not that many. I have the Northface Basecamp Duffel in my "Favorite Bags 1.0" video, the opperman london duffel and the Thule Rolling case Duffel review. But that's about it as far as I can remember. I rarely use duffels. Mainly only for gym or long distance travel (which I haven't much lately unfortunately)

How come you never put any links to the products in your video
@Youknowthebo
@Youknowthebo 7 жыл бұрын
agishan T For all my videos I decided not to include links for the products. Everyone is living in different countries and therefore has to deal with different shipping and customs fees. That is why I would advice everyone just to Google the product within their country to find the best deals. For instance: I live in Germany, It wouldn’t make sense to give you a German link while you might be living in USA or Asia. I hope that is understandable.

To me, one of the most important aspects of any item you may want to purchase, is the cost - so that's missing in a review for me. Also, as I've been a carryology reader for years, again I feel the desire to please mention your size in the Video. If I can relate to you because we are the same size, I know how big the bag might be for me as well, if not it's just a guessing game how tall you may be and if the bag makes me look like a turtle.
@Youknowthebo
@Youknowthebo 7 жыл бұрын
+Dean Grove hey Dean. Thank you very much for your feedback. I decided not to include prices I'm any of my reviews, because for every viewer outside of the US, they have to add lots of custom and shipping fees. Which I always have to pay for all my bags. Sometimes you can get a bag in your country, but then again the price would differ quite a lot. So I advice anyone just to Google the bag within their country to check the best prices. Regarding my height. As I mention in the "disclaimer" before the review: I only concentrate on a couple of things that I want to mention in the video for the sake of the length of the video. In some videos you can see my height in some you don't. But to help you with this particular video, I'm about 170cm tall 😉

I'd love to understand how some of these numbers are arrived at. You give the build a 6, for example, as well as the "Brand experience". I'd love to understand how the brand experience was scored low.
@Youknowthebo
@Youknowthebo 7 жыл бұрын
+John Kilpatrick hey John, To be quite honest, if it was just me I wouldn't have any scores at all. I would just give you the pros, cons and my verdict. But the scoring is based on a system developed by Carryology. The scores are of course measured by the subjective perspective of the reviewer but also based on the experience of the staff at Carryology. Something like "brand experience" is of course a very subjective matter, but in this case for instance it is also compared to lots of other brands to quantify it as good as possible. Best to look at this www.carryology.com/how-we-score/ for a detailed description. I hope that helps a bit. Let me know if you have any more questions

@Youknowthebo 7 жыл бұрын
+oOcitizenOo thanks, mate. I'm not sure if I personally would use this bag as a carryon. I know that the plastic carabiners would hold up, but as a travel bag I probably would load it with a bunch of stuff, that could add up in weight. Not sure how much stress the plastic carabiners could endure after a long time. Also when I'm traveling I would want my clothes to be as dry as possible. The mesh is cool, but probably not for travel
