when you said "what did I do on the mantel last year".. I actually take pictures every year of the kitchen table, the mantel, the tree , the decor , the drink station, the porch. So every year I get out the little holiday bag with all the pictures thru the years , and sit down with a cup of coffee in early November and see what sparks my creative mind . I love it .. its a relaxing, cozy morning . And yes, I am probably the only one who gets actual photos printed out. At least when I am gone my son will remember how Moms house looked during Christmas and having happy memories. BTW, he is 48 now!!!!

I literally have a day by day plan for November and December. Things I need to pick up, baking jobs, elf on the shelf plan, trip planning, packing lists, gift shopping list! Makes for a stress free holiday season ❤️

I start buying presents for family EARLY!! I have a shelf in one of my storage rooms where I keep them . I wrap them as I buy or receive them (if ordered online). Then they are on my shelves…ready to go…and I’m not running around like a crazy 😜 🧝‍♂️ elf in December! I don’t add my pretty bows and package decor until closer to Christmas. Saves me time and anxiety!

I start filling Rubbermaid totes with gifts. One tote per person that's alot of buying and 1 extra tote for last minute gifts. I have full by Nov 15. Then i wrap and drop off Dec 1 st.

I wish I had a cold basement to keep everything. We have attics and no basements in Texas. So everything is stored in containers in outside garage attic. No way to get up there on a ladder and go through them in hot humid July. Remember your trip to Waco? Ha. I’m just reminded of what I have when I pull it all down in November. :)

I always decorated the day after thanksgiving but now I do it early because my granddaughter does my tree. We usually have Thanksgiving at my sisters because she has a huge 1800’s farm house and we have such a large family we have over 60 some people. I always set everything early and put my dishes I am going to use for food out with the serving spoons .

Great tips.. Setting table and preparing food is always a must for me. I make a Christmas playlist. I buy Christmas cards and forget to mail them. LOVE THE PDF YOU PROVIDED.

Every year I hope to be better organized, operative word "hope" but it just never happens. Life happens, work, family, etc. BUT I'm going to try this gear as this has motivated me. You're great and !I've your channel and thoughts!

Such a great video! I love to add gift ideas on a list on Amazon. I get automatically notified when things go on sale, or they have similar items. I can add all year, and buy as needed. Same with mine and my daughter's list. Add throughout the year, buy what I want as I need it or want it, but there are options for when people ask what we need, so I don't forget! One of my favorite "traditions" at the end of the holidays is my mom writing a quick note to herself. After everything is torn down and ready to be put away, she writes a note of encouragement to herself and noted the awesome memories from the holidays. We always read it together when we bring out the first box for Christmas decorating. A note from the past sending us well wishes for the decorating days ahead, and sweet memories to cherish as we enter the season again. :)

Love these types of video's keep them coming leslie. I have no problem getting stuff early. I've gotten a few things already from qvc their selling Christmas item now and it's called Christmas in july. Hobby lobby already putting Christmas stuff out and if I see something I really want I'm not waiting for their sale. I loved your Christmas decorations last year and I can't wait to see what you do this year.

Loved your video! Great ideas. Yes I have always decorated the day after Thanksgiving. And doing any craft ideas or making wreaths is really helpful getting it done early. I made some new wreaths right after Christmas last year for this year's Christmas!👍🥰

I LOVED this!! For years, I’ve done much the same as you! Early in the year, I do a room to room walk through and decide how I want to decorate that particular room or space that year. I make so many list…a list for everything! 😁. Christmas is my favorite holiday and I love love to decorate for it…..and I decorate big! To give myself plenty of time, I usually start the day after Halloween….this also gives me time to enjoy, before taking it down and packing away!

We always go to my sister’s home so my list is short - gifts, cards, and a dish. Also decluttering - only dressing the fireplace and tree (and a wreath).🎄

You have a great advantage over me in your storage area. My decorations are in the attic, storage buildings, pantry and a cabinet in the kitchen. Takes forever to transfer to the house. You are blessed.

I like to plan in July also. Not only deciding your theme, but go through ALL your Christmas cartons. The things you haven’t really used in 5 years, I donate. Make sure when you donate, it’s not a family heirloom! Loved your ideas. God bless you!

We just moved in this house in December 2020. I barely had time to unpack from moving to decorate, BUT, I did put up my tree. I’m looking forward to decorating my new house this year.

I am a planner, so Im already working on my stuff too. One thing I do and my husband and I just love it. November 1st I put up my Christmas tree but I put all fall things on it. The tree is gorgeous . I actually love it more than my Christmas stuff. lol

Seeing this video made me so excited. I found your channel last Fall and I love your holiday decor. My holiday tip is to shop for Christmas gifts all throughout the year. I’m always keeping an eye out for things I know my children and family will love, especially when I see them on sale. I also get about half of my gifts during Amazon Prime Day. I store them away once they arrive and sometime in Nov, I take inventory of what I have and usually have very little to purchase after that.

I'm trying to deal with the heat by watching Christmas videos in July. I enjoyed your suggestions for planning & having less stress!! With wreaths for my outside doors, I buy fresh evergreen wreaths. I have saved big loopy bows made with ribbon I love. So I put the bows on the fresh wreaths. Hope you are staying cool & enjoying Christmas In July!

Christmas use to be one of my favorite holidays but now that I have children both of my families want us to go to their houses on Christmas Eve which is when both my family and in laws celebrate. Meaning we have to stay the night and all, it became too stressful so now we are going to host it here at our house and oh boy if everyone comes over that will be one packed house lol. These tips already made me feel better and determined!

Lol, I decide around December 1st if I am going to drag anything out to decorate. Lately, it has been a little tree and it is surprising how much more I enjoy that than the tons of stuff I used to have to clean up after Christmas. Probably in the minority here but my little tree and my Nativity is all I need. p.s. little tree must have lights!

I learned from my mom to sign /address christmas cards in july/august if possible. Then we do the bulk of our baking in a sprint for 2 to 5 days in october. Anything that will keep in a freezer for 2 or 3 months gets baked, labelled, and wrapped. Then in december all we have to do is pull them out and throw on a little frosting!

Thank you for the tips and the PDF file!! One tip that I incorporate into my decorating plan is - outdoor lighting (if you plan on using outdoor lighting) Hang ALL of the lights in October before it gets too cold. Nothing is worse than trying to hang lights while shivering from the frigid temps!

You are so like me it takes my Hubby and I at least a week or more to decorate.

This was a nice show. I'll take the chandelier LOL some days you're running around getting everything prepared and other days you sit quietly and explain and show a few things happening in stores. I like that. that's a good cross section of what needs to be done and said. I like the balance

I shop and wrap in October, bake the beginning of November and freeze, start decorating the day after Remembrance Day, (takes about two weeks to decorate my home 🙄). Then I relax all of December and watch Hallmark movies!🤗 Love love love Christmas but hate the stress so I plan and get to work early. 🤶🏻

I love decorating for Christmas but mine spills over to the whole house. I have a tree in the den, sitting room, dining room, kitchen & one in the upstairs window. I just go at it like a crazy person starting on the day after Thanksgiving and hope for the best :)

I love to send photo Christmas cards of the whole family. Book your photographer early! They fill up fast!

I swear Leslie your just like me with the getting things done early and organization piece . However , I do start earlier with the decorating because I put up a very large Dept 56 snow village . It’s the heart of me and seeing my grandchildren’s eyes lit up especially the carnival 🎡 portion . And I also put up a train . every year I buy a new price or two lol so that takes a few days then I decorate Living room and kitchen the tree is another portion I have many ornaments from my children that they made and lots of others that I purchased at Xmas fairs I never ever change that but I do change long stemmed flowers and leaves after my tree is complete I stick them in lol so I love to have that all done by thanksgiving . Then only thing that has to get done is baking cookies and delivering I make about 12 Tins for my priest family members etc and CHRISTmas cards i still love to do even if I don’t get any in return I just love to send out cards . And I shop mainly on Amazon for Christmas gifts early early i wrap as I buy no waiting last minute lol my mom hit text her soul would wrap her presents on an ironing board so her back never hurt her boy I miss her so much love you Leslie 🌻🌻🌻

Make sure you have down time so not exhausted when you start entertaining.

I always only shop decor not earlier than week of holiday.

My husband plans all the outdoor lights early so it's not freezing when he puts them up. Our home is small so I decorate everything inside in one day.
