Today I am sharing more about the homeschool math curriculum we have chosen for the year. I want to share how we feel 3 months in and also share a look inside this homeschool curriculum from Denison Algebra! This has been an answer to prayer in our homeschool and I am happy to share more about it with you!

Just started chapter 3 of PreAlgebra with 7th and 9th grader! Cannot even begin to explain how amazing this has been for both of them. They do the lessons together and tests separately. My 9th grader has a TBI and had begun to believe that she would never be able to complete high school maths. She has done a 180 and just made a 92 on her test today 🎉

I don't know how Denison isn't super popular. My kid loves math now. He's HAPPY to do it and there have been ZERO complaints or grumbling about math lessons this year. Such a blessing!

This is hands down the best math program we have ever used and we have used A LOT. Just keeping my fingers that they will do the elementary years one day for my younger kids 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I can’t begin to tell you how much stress math has caused me and my kids in our homeschool. Your video just popped in my feeds and after watching it I went right over to the Denison website. I previewed some of the video lessons and I immediately knew I had to purchase it. The way in which math is taught and the textbooks are written almost brought me to tears, and that’s tears of joy. Just wanted to say thank you for sharing about Denison! My 10th grader who struggles with math is a couple lessons in to Algebra 1 and it is going so well for her! I found Denison through your videos, and I really appreciate it!

I don’t really leave comments but I just had to this time, I saw this video a few months ago and decided to order Denison. I was SO excited as I had never even heard of this curriculum before! My daughter has tried multiple curriculums in the past and math has just consistently been a struggle :/ we’ve been doing Denison for a week now and she absolutely LOVES IT! For the first time ever she is actually ENJOYING math which I didn’t think was possible! So thank you so much for spreading the news on this amazing curriculum!

Thank you so much for uploading this! I tried purchasing this through my charter and because there was so little information on it (and my child is in 7th) there was a hold up on purchasing even though I linked the prerequisites to the order. Anyways, I will be uploading this video to my charter so they are able to see inside and I can get started on this curriculum. Super thrilled. Super excited. Super grateful. Much thanks.

This is a wonderful review. I hadn’t heard of Denison math until late august. I ordered it and we started after the rest of our schoolwork. I do not regret it at all! My son thanked me (no, seriously!) for Mr Denison’s math. I only wish I had had this for his five older siblings. We have begun with pre-algebra, but unless something drastically changes in the higher levels we are sticking with Denison!

We also just started it. My daughter is good at math but this math curriculum has been such a relaxed math. My daughter has anxiety, so if she got stuck and didn’t understand something she felt it was not explained well to her and got stuck. It may be a bit easier for her, but I’ve never seen her looking forward to math. If I took her out of public school so she could learn in a way that wasn’t overwhelming, I realized why not use something that works her way.

I’m so glad you shared this math program! I don’t have kids old enough to use it yet but absolutely know it’s what I’m going to use for their last 5 years of math. The curriculum I currently use goes through 6th grade so I’ll just have one year to find something different before moving into Denison!

Thank you for this video! I have a 12th grade student diagnosed with *severe* dyscalculia and wish I would’ve known about this math earlier for him!! I have 6th and 8th graders both using the 2nd volume of MasterBooks’ Pre Algebra course. My 8th grader is an average math student and my 6th grader is a math whiz. I am going to pray about using this for them both next year. I saw there is a 40% discount for a second student in the same course….still pricey, but I’d love to be mostly out of the picture for their math and be able to focus on my elementary school age children!

My non-mathy 9th grader was able to go right to Denison Algebra 1, even though she didn't finish her Prealgebra book (Saxon). I was able to speak directly with the author, and he was so reassuring! He said that he wrote this in such a way that most average 9th graders can go right into it and stay on track for credits, even if they are lacking in some Prealgebra (his background is as a high school math teacher). Needless to say, i was worried at first but took his advice, and she is doing amazing! She is so happy and hasn't had to ask me for any help. She used to deal with so much anxiety, but now she says she loves math 🤷‍♀️🎉!

I looked into and purchased Denison Algebra (the pre-Algebra course for my 8th grader). My 8th grader is not a lover of math. He has LOVED every single bit of his Math work. Like you, Denison Algebra has been an amazing addition to our homeschool and quite honestly an answered prayer! I have no idea how everyone doesn’t know about this! Denison Algebra is the only Math course we plan on using from Pre-Algebra on! Thanks for sharing! Your channel is one of my favorites that I follow for homeschool.

I’m switching both of my kids over to this because of your video! I actually asked on one of my homeschooling Facebook group pages last night what others are using for math for their high school kids who struggle and don’t like math at all. An over whelming amount of people commented that they use Denison Math and they will never use anything else again. So I was already looking more into it but I watched your video and I’m convinced now that this is the right decision to switch my kiddos over to Denison math. Thank you again so much for making this video and I’m so so glad I watched it! ❤

What level of teaching textbooks should be completed before pre Alger ra from your experience? And did going from teaching textbooks to Denison go well? Was a smooth transition? Teaching textbooks is working SO well for my fourth grader and I KNoW I want to use Denison when she is ready 👍

I so wish I had heard of this before! My oldest is in 10th and has struggled with math since 6th grade. We've tried just about everything and finally landed on Saxon. My daughter HATES it, but I've seen vast improvement, so I'm torn. I probably wouldn't switch her at this point being in Algebra 2, but I still wonder about next year for 11th grade. This does look amazing for my younger kids up and coming though. Decisions, decisions...a homeschool mom's constant dilemma. 😂

Hey Julia! Thanks for watching! It's so hard to recommend math curriculum (or any for that matter🤪)...without knowing your kiddos! However, Teaching Textbooks and TG&TB have been positive for our family in the past. A beka math was great for k-3rd! Just my opinion and not knowing the situation or your kiddo personally! ❤️

@@SimplyLivingItThis kinda of reminds me of “Learn Math Fast” maybe you can look into that for your younger kids. My kids are doing EasyPeasy 5/6 offline and I purchased “Learn Math Fast book 2” to help better teach them the concepts. But km definitely considering Denison for pre-algebra!

I have 6th grade twin girls currently doing Teaching Textbooks. Is the pre-algebra course better suited for a 7th or 8th grader? Math is not their strongest subject. Thank you!

Hello! My daughter has been struggling with math for years and she is doing so well. She’s in 8th grade but we could have easily started this in 7th grade. We are doing the Pre-Algebra and she can do it without any extra help. We love it!!!

Check out their website or shoot them any email with any questions! They are incredibly helpful if needed! 😊 My son is 8th, and we started with Pre-Al because I wanted him SOLID. It's been incredible for both of us! He will be right on track for Algebra in 9th.

Hey friend! So, that is totally up to you and the needs of your kids and definitely not a decision I'd take lightly or based off someone else's thoughts. 😊 I don't know your babies or your situation. We, however, did switch over from TT, and I'd do it the same all over again! Best decision we've made for OUR family! 🫶

Absolutely make the switch to Denison if your kids hate math and feel like they can't do it, or if they get upset about doing math, or making mistakes. I purchased TT pre algebra this year and my son was in tears on the first day. That same day One Blessed Mess Released a video about Denison math pre algebra. After researching it and seeing that Simply Living it also was using it, I made the switch and got a refund on TT. It's a night and day difference in our home. I'm so thankful for this curriculum. My son no longer is upset or grumbles over doing math. He actually looks forward to it and smiles and laughs at Mr Denison's silly comments. He does all of his work and corrects it each day. It's been going great. From the first lesson in pre algebra they talk about math anxiety, and feeling dumb, my son said it's like they are talking directly to me! He was hooked since then. Brain positivity is huge! Good luck!

There are really not other programs that do video lessons and have kids do pencil and paper answers?? That’s the way math should be done- just a former secondary math teacher thing😜! I have littles but will tuck this away for later. So glad things are going well!

My daughter has done Shormann for 9th & 10th grade, it is college prep & best for a really strong math student who may need more challenge than Denison. It takes her a long time to do math. I didn’t know about Denison when we chose her math, but I’m about to order Denison for my son.

Hey there! It depends! Usually between 15-30 minutes. Each day varies. We are using pre-al and also geometry. Some days geometry is super short and pre-al is longer...and vice versa! 😃

Totally depends!!! We have one in Geometry and one in PreAl. I can't really slap a time on them but we were using Shormann before...and this is SO GOOD!!!!! 🙌

@@SimplyLivingIt can I ask you one more question? Can you speed the videos up on Denison? We are used to CTC's very short lectures and even then sometimes my kids speed him up! I noticed on that the sampled video on denison is 17 min! My kids would want to press the 1.5 button for sure!
