TC turned some heads with their ampworks pedals. For me, the JIMS 45 seems to be the most versatile, but maybe I am crazy.

I don't see how this is too much. There are drive pedals that are more expensive. The important question is what you as a guitar player need. If you want to play direct and you don't need midi + a third channel this might be the right pedal for you.

@Mitch-6-Strings Жыл бұрын
The Strymon Iridium has become a classic pedal and some are hailing it as the next ‘Klon’. It’s no wonder, given that it will take up less space on your pedal board than this trio. To be honest, to me, these TC electronic pedals sound inferior in every respect. The UA trilogy pedals sound good, but again take up far to much room on your board if you have all three and you won’t get much change out of a small holiday.

Just got mine. I've also got a JTM45, so i've had fun comparing. The TC's tones are not a bad emulation: the bloated bass, recessed mids and top end fizz are all there (for good or bad!) as is the compression if you turn the input gain way up. And, YES it has a headphone output ! But the 'feel' isn't quite there, and i honestly don't know how to describe exactly what's lacking. But hey, it cost me £135 compared to over £2,000 for the JTM45 and 4x12 cab. So I reckon its a real bargain for those who don't have the money or space, or have neighbours, or children sleeping upstairs.

Amazing video as usual! So you can place time based effects AFTER the DI out? That was my only hold up on this - without an fx loop, I wasn’t sure if delay, reverb, trem, etc. would work if using the DI out, or if I’d have to use the regular out and have to buy a separate DI box after my time based effects.

I might be crazy, but... I want one of these, just to use with my Eyemaster, and then blend with another amp in a box pedal I have (a Joyo Oxford Sound, which I boost with a Joyo Argos Drive). In case you can't tell, I'm a metal guy... I found a video of a Bugera 1960 being pushed with an MIJ HM-2 and have been in love with the sound ever since. I currently use my eyemaster with a Joyo Jackman, and run the Argos into a Joyo Meteor, but when I go DI/quiet stage I use a multi-FX pedal to run a 1959 or JCM800 amp sim along side the oxford sound, or else I use an IR/DI combo pedal in the loop and just use the headphone out on the Joyo amps, or the XLR out on the pedals, but I want to free up the multi for post FX on the Orange side of things.

A word of caution: This pedal is not for everyone. Its not a "high gain" face melter for shredders or disciples of "Djent". This pedal has the capability to deliver the warm, tubey and overdriven tones of the classic JTM45. Also, if your understanding of how to EQ a signal is limited to the three band EQ on the pedal, you're probably not going to have a good experience, especially when using the pedal in "amp mode". In this mode, the low end can get very flabby very fast and the high end can tear your head off. This is a very bright pedal. So, bear that in mind. When the pedal is in "gain pedal mode" and connected to the amp's main input, its tonal response is far more manageable. In this mode, it works exactly like a two stage gain pedal. Between the amp's EQ and the three band EQ on the pedal, much of the shrill highs and flabby lows can be dialed out. But, not all, especially if you're using high output pickups. This pedal favors lower output pickups, especially single coils. I also find the low ends tightens up a bit when playing a guitar that has a longer scale length over 25' like a PRS or a Strat. However, if playing a Les Paul or other guitar that has the shorter 24.75' scale length, the lows especially can get quite flabby. I would recommend this pedal for studio use, content creation and recording to a computer etc. Generally, any application where precise control over the entire signal is possible is a must here. Yes, you can get a decent to good tone out of the pedal, as is. But, this pedal is capable of outstanding tones. However, to get there, it requires a precise EQ (I'd recommend a parametric EQ) and a good amount of experience to get there. Cheers!

I really prefer a 1959 Super Lead circuit with the big 5n bright cap on Volume 1. Gives you that intense punch and bite at around volume 3-7 that the smaller 100pf capacitor on a 45 can't do. Wish they'd done a 1959, or at least had a switch or software option for the 1959 bright cap. That small mod makes a huge differences.

Allrightythen! This one has now won me over more than the DC30. Although, for just a bit more ($199)? One could get themselves the NU-X Amp Academy, which has 12 amps/IRs, and a crap ton of more features (FX loop/MIDI/Routing & Re-amping). I also believe the NU-X Amp Academy maybe utilizing a superior DSP technology & higher resolution IRs? Don't quote me on that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ These are definitely nice sounding modelers IMO tho, and super simple by comparison. I just wish (like with all digital amp pedals) that it were possible to run two in parallel or wet/dry in phase. Alas, DSP round trip latency will always prevent that from happening. At least for now anyways. Fantastic demo Henning! I seem to have enjoyed your improvisational riffs & noodles on this one the most : ) Stay safe & well! ✌Auf Wiedersehen ✌

When trying to record pedals like distortion, overdrive etc. into a Tascam DR-40X, the signal barely registers in the Tascam. So, I have been using Art Tube MPs to get the signal up to where the DR-40x can hear it. So, are these TC Ampworks pedals capable of bringing the signal up without needing a pre-amp like the Art; or are these TC Ampworks more like 'just another pedal' in that regard, and the pre-amp will still be necessary?

I was excited to see these upon release but after hearing them all on several channels I’m not so sure. They’re still good, and for the price they’re great. But not at all what I’m looking for. The vintage realism is probably great for people who want to use this by itself for a familiar experience in low volume environments… but I want to put it on a pedalboard so lots of headroom from a modernized version would be better. So idk. Meh for me but maybe not for thee.

The person is saying that it's completely ok to create your guitar sound in the box. Latency nowadays should not be a problem anymore and so are failures. You should be safe to use software in studio and live performances. There are enough pro guitar players doing this to prove that it is legit to go this route. I personally don't trust software too much either, but I guess that's what the person wanted to say.

Wished something like this existed 10-15 years ago when I just needed to run an emulation of a Plexi and nothing else when it wasn’t feasible to take my actual Plexi for whatever reason. I wouldn’t have paid for another emulation of say a Fender or Vox or whatever. Only thing that would be nice would be to the option of the various non-MV Marshall’s I guess.
